East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office October 2014 SHERIFF SID GAUTREAUX BAILS OUT OF JAIL SUPPORTING MDA Inside this issue: Deputy Of The Month 2 Congratulations 3 In The Community 4 Birthdays 5 Upcoming Events 6 Thanks to the generous donations of many EBRSO employees, Sheriff Sid Gautreaux bailed out of jail by raising more than $1,600 to help children and adults with muscle disease in our community who are supported by the vital work of the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). All funds raised by the MDA Lock-Up assist the Association in providing lifesaving research, a nationwide network of medical clinics and accessible summer camp experiences to individuals and families affected by neuromuscular diseases. Together we'll Make a Muscle and Make a Difference in the fight against muscle disease. Thanks to everyone that gave! DEPUTIES OF THE MONTH Belinda Chemin, of the Criminal Records Division, has been named the Administrative and Support Services Deputy of the Month. Mrs. Chemin was hired by the Sheriff’s Office in November of 2013. In her short time with the EBRSO, Belinda has shown great professionalism and has learned a great deal. She is currently training new employees in the Division and is doing an outstanding job. Corporal Danny Major has been named the Uniform Patrol Deputy of the Month. Deputy Morris was hired by the Sheriff’s Office in February of 2006 and joined Kleinpeter Substation in October of 2007. Major was promoted to the rank of Corporal in April of 2014. Since that time, he has displayed a great desire to assist his Lieutenant and Sergeant with daily duties and has quickly developed into a valued and trusted supervisor. His outstanding leadership and cooperation has been admired by his supervisors Deputy Laura Stagg, of the Parish Prison, has been named the Corrections Deputy of the Month. Deputy Stagg has been with the Sheriff’s Office since November of 2012. She has effectively maintained care, custody, and control on assigned posts that others have struggled with. Deputy Stagg recently discovered synthetic marijuana while performing a shakedown. The outcome resulted in the inmate being placed on lockdown and the contraband being removed from the line. Sergeant William Brown, Burglary, has been named the Detectives and Special Operations Deputy of the Month. Sergeant Brown was hired by the Sheriff’s Office in October of 1992. On September 17, 2014, Sergeant Brown became involved in an interrogation regarding a bank robbery suspect that had been ongoing for about an hour. He began to question the suspect and through his continued efforts, Sergeant Brown was able to obtain a confession and the name of another suspect in an additional robbery. Elaine McBroom has been named the Civil Deputy of the Month. Mrs. Mcbroom was hired by the EBRSO in July of 2000. Elaine has represented the Sheriff’s Office in numerous foreclosure sales. Her sales are performed in a timely and efficient manner and always in accordance with the law. Her professionalism and accuracy have not gone unnoticed. We thank Mrs. McBroom for her tireless efforts. Page 3 East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office Congratulations Promotions NEW HIRES Leonardo Patino-Gonzales-Uniform Patrol John W.
