Have you been thinking about becoming Catholic? RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS Each year thousands of adults choose to become Catholics. They come from different backgrounds for different reasons: • Some are already Christians from other traditions attract- ed by the teaching of the Catholic Church and by the example of individual Catholics they know. • Some are from another faith or no faith at all who have heard about Jesus, His claim to forgive sin and His promise of eternal life. • Some are non-Catholics who have been coming regularly to Mass for years with their Catholic relatives. They wish now to become full members of the Church. • Some have had no previous contact with the Church at all but have this inner calling to discover the truth about the most important questions of life. • The program is also for Catholics who missed out on the sacraments as children. If any of the above situations applies to you, then the RCIA program is for you! Please contact John Valenti, Pastoral Associate at 217-3476240. Attention . . . The Oblates were founded in 1936 with the Mission of serving seminarians and priests. Their central belief is that holy priests will help the people of God be holy! They offer their lives, prayer and work for the sanctification of priests. The Oblate Sisters live in twenty different convents around the world, thirteen of which are located in Mexico. We also have houses in Rome, Ecuador, and the United States. Children's Liturgy Children’s Liturgy will be starting again in September. We are in need of some volunteer teachers and helpers. To the thirty-five (35) volunteer Ministers of Holy Communion and all those involved in the Eucharistic Ministry who bring Jesus to our parish family, a heart-felt “Thank You!” We serve over one-hundred (100) parishioners residing in twelve (12) assisted living and nursing home facilities. We also bring the Eucharist to eighteen (18) home-bound parishioners weekly. This ministry includes outreach providing love and care through the Eucharist to the sick at home, hospital, nursing and retirement communities. I am grateful to our pastor Father Chris and to Sister Jane for everything they have done to make this such a vital ministry. Pro-Life Corner Thoughts from Pope Francis… It is important to insist that legislation help facilitate the adoption process, above all in the case of unwanted children, in order to prevent their abortion or abandonment. Those who accept the challenge of adopting and accepting someone unconditionally and gratuitously become channels of God’s love. For he says, “Even if your mother forgets you, I will not forget you” (Is 49:15). (Pope Francis’ apostolic exhortation on love in the family titled “The Joy of Love”, released 4/8/16) In Her Cherished Heart Women's Conference, Saturday, September 10th, 2016 in Springfield. Speaker Lisa Hendey will present on her book, "The Grace of Yes: 8 Virtues for Generous Living." Mass, Goody Bags, Confession, Lunch, Adoration. Mother's room for children under 1 year.
