What a wonderful achievement it was for our eventers to win the team silver medal, and then beaten only in a nail-biting finish that could so easily have given us the gold. They took it right down to the wire, and they did us proud, continuing our amazing tradition in the eventing world and leaving us a nation to be feared. The dressage - there is no end to the potential of our riders here. We have the talent and we have the horsepower to push on towards the medals - we achieved our highest-ever placing with 8th in the teams, and with just 2% in total between 6th and 8th place, we’re closing in on the top riders all the time. There is no doubting that the breeding we have here in Australia is simply equal to anywhere in the world, and our time is coming! The showjumping? Three Aussies in the top 25 and age is no barrier. Never give up, there’s Laurie Lever in there debuting at 60 years of age, achieving his Olympic dream, proving that anything is possible for the Aussie battler that will never say die. And here at home, at Auction of the Stars, we are building the foundations for future Olympic dreams by bringing you a simply incredible collection of horses bound to help you on your path to success, in whatever field that may be and to whatever level you wish to achieve. We can offer you a youngster with incredible potential, the kind of horse that you would never have thought it possible to find inside the boundaries of our country, but now you can … a schoolmaster to start talented juniors on the right path to excel at those higher levels … a jumping machine to propel you into the Olympic arena or around the crosscountry course … a broodmare to open the door to a future top-quality partner in your ambitions. There is no limit to what Australia can do, and no limit to your own visions. We are here to help in every way, with vendor finance available on many lots to make sure it happens for you. Ladies and gentlemen, we wish you every success in your bidding here today. Regardez Moi has already made what we think is Australian history by scoring a perfect “10” for his piaffe. You have seen him coming - after all, Regardez Moi was Australian national medium dressage champion in 2004, blasting through the ranks to FEI wins of up to a tremendous 74%, NSW 2005 State FEI small tour horse of the year and winner of one of only two gold medals awarded by Dressage NSW for three performances over 70% Now, Regardez Moi is a legend in the making and we feel he won’t just be an Australian legend, but one that is honoured the world over. His sire Rubinstein is clearly one of the world’s leading sires of Grand Prix dressage horses while his dam is equally brilliantly bred, by Consul out of a mare by all-time dressage great, Donnerhall. Now rider Jan Brink has chosen the Briar son Biggles as his next international GP horse. Briar 899 has won numerous international medals. He has eight different breed society approvals, and has sired no less than five approved sons with two winning Sweden’s national stallion tests scoring 10s for rideability and gaits. He is famous for a quote from Olympian Kyra Kyrkland, who said: “I would give my soul for this horse.” On the dam line, Byalee Briar is out of a Bernstein mare. Bernstein is a Swedish warmblood stallion, sire of many approved stallions, again with a pedigree that has proved itself in the ranks of Grand Prix in Europe and the US. Bernstein also sired Madonna, the winner of the national Swedish finals for four-year-olds, and won the Breeders’ Trophy for 5- and 6-year olds. He was himself stallion of the year in dressage in Sweden in 2001. Together these bloodlines have now produced what we expect to be one of the most exciting young stallions to be brought into Australia. Byalee Briar has a soft, regular trot, he has inherited Briar’s incredible uphill canter with strong shoulder and knee action, and shows that ever-essential correct walk.
