The Church in the United States is preparing to implement a Revised Roman Missal on the First Sunday of Advent, November 27, 2011. This is the fourth in the series of information sheets explaining how the Roman Missal will be changed to reflect more closely the original Latin texts. The race is one of the major fundraising events for the Bethlehem Project. Please mark your calendars as a day to participate, have fun and raise money for those in our local communities who need our help to prevent homelessness. The Bethlehem race grows each year. In 2010 we had over 250 runners and are expecting even more this year. We need T-shirt sponsors for the race. If you would like to advertise your business or simply be a sponsor in memory or in honor of someone, the Bethlehem Project Advisory Board would appreciate your participation. Catholic Charities Golf Outing Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Greensburg invites you to participate in their Tenth Annual Golf Outing, August 19, at Chestnut Ridge Golf Resort and Conference Center in Blairsville, PA. This fundraising event is designed to supplement the profit of the Communities of Salt and Light Award Dinner in providing assistance for basic life necessities for the people living in our diocese. Catholic Charities has experienced sell-out crowds for this event in the past and has relocated to provide two courses of play. The first 36 foursomes to register will play Tom’s Run. Altar Server Trainings There is only one more training session this month for current altar servers and for those who are interested in joining this important ministry. The last session will be held on July 31 at 12:45 PM. Please call the parish office to register for this last session. Senior Group Trip to Riverside Inn & Dinner Theater on August 3 The Cathedral Active Seniors Group is coordinating a one day bus trip on Wednesday, August 3, to Riverside Inn and Dinner Theater in Cambridge Springs, PA to see “Honky Tonk Angels”, which combines classic country music with a hilarious story line. The cost of the trip which includes bus fare, lunch and show, is $61.00. The registration deadline is Friday, September 16, 2011. Weekly Financial Report Sunday July 17, 2011 For seventeen years PATHWAYS has served to inspire adults to examine more deeply the intersection of their lives, their faith and their world. We invite you to add your name to the list of more than 1200 participants throughout our diocese who have chosen this particular path on their journey of faith. Regular Offertory Other Income In order to meet our budgetary needs, Blessed Sacrament Cathedral requires an average of $18,000.00 per week in the regular offertory collection. PATHWAYS also fulfills all of the requirements for basic catechist certification. Beginning this October, PATHWAYS is scheduled for Tuesday evenings at Mount Saint Peter Parish, New Kensington and Thursday evenings at Our Lady of Grace Parish, Greensburg. Registration forms and a complete calendar are available at your parish and on the diocesan website. Two workshops and six sessions are scheduled between October 1 and November 22, 2011. A workshop, six sessions and a retreat are scheduled between March 6 and May 5, 2012. Participants have four years to complete the attendance requirement in order to obtain a certificate of completion. Diocesan Lenten Appeal To Date Missions Collection $131,520.00 $3,789.00 Golden Jubilee Mass Bishop Brandt invites all couples celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary during the calendar year 2011 to participate in a special Golden Jubilee Mass to be held at the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 3:00 PM. The Jubilarians, their children, relatives or friends should contact their local parish office to register couples for this celebration. Even though they may not be able to attend the Mass, they will receive a scroll signed by the Bishop commemorating their anniversary. Liturgical Ministers Schedule $13,277.00 $ 5,980.30 Living with Christ This Week July 30 & 31 Our Eucharistic celebration reminds us that God is gracious and always supplies what we need. The Old Testament readings for this week describe the Hebrews’ celebration of God’s presence by building a tent for meeting God and designating special feasts to celebrate God’s presence with them. There will be games, clowns and a jumping machine for the kids. For the adults there will be Chinese auction baskets, bingo, games of chance, a peddler village flea market, entertainment, baked goods (including our famous St. Vincent bread), specialty foods, jewelry, used books, a vendor fair, as well as a car show. There will be a chicken dinner beginning at noon on Sunday at a price of $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for children under the age of 12. Fun for all ages!!!
