Emmanuel Newsletter July • August • September 2016 The Gypsy Choir from Boldesti-Scaeni, Romania Emmanuel Baptist Church in conjunction with Precious Life Ministries will be hosting The Gypsy Choir from BoldestiScaeni, Romania. They will be ministering at Emmanuel on Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31! This unique group of young adults (ranging in age from 18-37) have been singing together for six years. Under the direction of Eduard Teodorescu, they will bring a large repertoire of music to Emmanuel, ranging from Italian Opera, Romanian hymns and worship songs, some traditional Roma music and even some English songs that you will recognize. You will not want to miss this musical extravaganza. Their musical expertise in only surpassed by their Christian character and commitment. All of these young adults are either employed or in school. Joined by their pastor, Viorel Oprisan, their great desire is to raise some funds to return to their village and build a new church with a medical clinic in it, in order to minister to their gypsy community. Two of the young women are nurses and one is finishing her medical degree and they plan on working in their new facility. They will also be ministering at Faith Chapel on Sunday night (July 31st) and Memorial Baptist Church on Monday night (August 1st). It’s ok to hear them twice, because they will probably never be this way again! We would love to be able to minister to you and your family during this difficult time. DO NOT ASSUME THAT THE HOSPITAL LETS THE CHURCH KNOW! RUN HOME CAMP This July 18-22 , FCA will be hosting the Annual Run Home Camp for abused and neglected boys, ages 912. Run Home Camps brings hope, healing, and honor to local children through a week of positive memories that hopefully lasts a lifetime. For this special week, the boys are treated like All-Stars! They learn baseball and are celebrated as individuals with a special birthday party and a trip to a ballgame. For many of these boys, this will be their first time attending a baseball game. By the end of the week, the boys will have experienced a loving, Christian family environment and will have had the opportunity to run home to their Heavenly Father. The hope is that these boys will store their camp memories deep within their hearts and hold on to the One who holds on to them. Not that its about them but the gifts that God has given them, each new show has been focused on the work of just one artist. The year began with the paintings of Gary McClemens. The most recent show to depart was the inspirational photographic/graphic design work of Mark Polaski (814.823.5762). Mark is from the Johnstown area and received a Bachelor’s of Fine Art in Applied Media for Edinboro University. The newest show is by artist Sandy Vigna. Painting since the age of 12 she paints mainly on wood. Self taught, Sandy would say, “her technique has its roots in tole painting”. God has also lead her to have bible verses incorporated into her art, “ as a blessing to us and to our COMMUNION Saturday, July 2nd @ 6pm Sunday, July 3rd @ 9 & 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 6th @ 6pm visitors.” Take a walk down the gallery!
