Only three more monthly meetings left before our June 10, 2008 Conference, “Innovation and
Inspiration for 2008.” Planning is going very well and it promises to be even better than last year!
So mark your calendar to be to be sure that you do not miss this great event. Enclosed with this
newsletter is the invitation and schedule flyer. We will also send out a separate copy directly to
each member. Invitations will also be going out to all Chamber of Commerce members of Jefferson
and Lewis counties, the SHRM chapters in Central NY and St Lawrence County as well as the
Iroquois Health Association membership.
This year we will be offering a limited number of partial scholarships to help offset the costs for
Professional Members of NCHRA whose companies do not pay for conference attendance. Please
contact either Tim Ryan (Treasurer) or myself if you are interested in applying for this scholarship
opportunity.
Please join me in welcoming three new members to our chapter this month:

Chris Boulio – Watertown School District
Paula Nuzzi – Timeless Frames
Heather Sellers – Interface Sealing Solutions
This month Bob Penski, President of Penski Staffing, and John Wicke, General Manager of Penski
Staffing, will be speaking to our group about recruiting and retention in the workplace. As HR
professionals, this is one of the most important aspects of our job. You do not want to miss this
very important presentation! Both Bob and John bring over 25 years of experience human
resources operations.
The chapter website is just about complete; I would anticipate that by this time next month it will
be up and running. The site will have SHRM and HR-related links as well as chapter specific
information such as program and registration information as well as a secure password protected
“members only” section with membership information. Of course, once it is up and running we will
be very interested in your feedback as we refine and improve the site to meet our member’s
needs.
Finally, I mentioned last month that we are putting together our plan for a smooth chapter
leadership transition this summer. Both the President and Treasurer positions as well as one open
board member position will up for election. We are looking for energetic and motivated members
to serve in these key positions within the Chapter. Membership on the Board does not take too
much time (we have a 30 minute board meeting once a month to plan for each of our membership
meetings). Kathleen Scheible will be directing our nominating committee. The committee will be
contacting each of you in the next month to see if you are interested in serving on the Chapter
Board. But you do not have to wait to be contacted if you know that you are interested – call
Kathleen now and let her know that you want to play an important part in the Chapter.
Seeing you all at our March 19th lunch meeting at the Best Western Tiffany Room.
Gil Pearsall
President, North Country Human Resources Association
