Obsessive guilt is not the message the Scriptures offer us. Think of the prodigal son, the good thief on the cross or the woman caught in adultery. Over and over we are assured that God is forgiving and that we have only to come with a contrite heart and we will be washed clean from our past failures. “Being washed clean” means that there is a fresh, new start without the residue from the past. God offers us a new beginning. The problem is that too often we think God couldn’t possible forgive us for this or that thing we did. We doubt the generosity of God’s heart. I arise today through the strength of heaven; light of the sun, splendor of fire, speed of lightning, swiftness of the wind, depth of the sea, stability of the earth, firmness of the rock. I arise today through God’s strength to pilot me; God’s might to uphold me, God’s wisdom to guide me, God’s eye to look before me, God’s ear to hear me, God’s word to speak for me, God’s hand to guard me, God’s way to lie before me, God’s shield to protect me, God’s hosts to save me afar and anear, alone or in a multitude. Christ shield me today against wounding. Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me, Christ in the eye that sees me, Christ in the ear that hears me, READINGS FOR THE WEEK Monday: Dn 13:1-9, 15-17, 19-30, 33-62 [41c-62]; Ps 23:1-6; Jn 8:12-20 Tuesday: 2 Sm 7:4-5a, 12-14a, 16; Ps 89:2-5, 27, 29; Rom 4:13, 16-18, 22; Mt 1:16, 18-21, 24a or Lk 2:41-51a Wednesday: Dn 3:14-20, 91-92, 95; Dn 3:52-56; Jn 8:31-42 Thursday: Gn 17:3-9; Ps 105:4-9: Jn 8:51-59 Friday: Jer 20:10-13; Ps 18:2-7; Jn 10:31-42 Saturday: Ez 37:21-28; Jer 31:10, 11-13; Jn 11:45-56 Sunday: Lk 19:28-40 (procession); Is 50:4-7; Ps 22:8-9, 17-20, 23-24; Phil 2:6-11; Lk 22:14, 23:56 [23:1-49] I arise today through the mighty strength of the Lord of Creation. Amen. The stone probably didn’t feel that heavy when it was first picked up. But it was a stone, not a pebble, and there were many of them. They would do damage, especially when hurled in self-righteous anger. Perhaps it helped the people to believe that no one stone could be blamed for her death. This was an act of the community, all of them in it together, standing up for the Law of Moses, and bringing down God’s wrath upon an adulteress. While things were starting to heat up, no one was paying much attention to the woman. They were all watching Jesus. What was with the crouching down and drawing in the dirt? You really couldn’t tell whether he was writing or drawing or maybe he was just stalling for time. Some said he had tricked them, worked some kind of magic, proof that he was indeed in league with Beelzebub. The more thoughtful ones were silent. One even said he thought Jesus was praying. Where else could his words have come from, words that redirected their gaze from the woman to themselves, words that caused stones to drop and feet to shuffle off? His words continue to echo any time we find ourselves about to cast stones of condemnation at one another: “Let the one among you who is without sin . . .” After taking these words to heart, we might hear more clearly Jesus’ final words, meant not only for her, but for us: Go and sin no more. 6 _|àâÜz|vtÄ `|Ç|áàxÜá áxÜä|Çz tà à{x _ÉÜwËá àtuÄx Lectors Eucharistic Ministers 6:30 am Clinton Boullion Brenda Hooper, Patricia Greene, Matilda Johnson Brenda Hooper Mar. 19 12:05 pm Margaret Young Daniel Habetz, Charmaigne Lawless, Linda Ancona Margaret Young 6:30 am Jeanette Leger Deacon Tommy, Flo Broussard, Rita Monceaux Rita Monceaux Mar. 21 12:05 pm Dolores Deville Angela Rosteet, Peggy Lake, Daniel Habetz Helen Boudreaux Robert Simoneaux Mar. 18 Mar. 20 Altar Servers Sacristans Mar. 22 6:30 am Paul Molbert Dr. Neal Duhon, Clarence Arsement, Liz Deaville Mar. 23 4:00 pm Luke Beslin, Allison Gray Deacon Dan, Barry LeBlanc, Gale Prejean, Edward Prejean, Peggy Lake, Barbara Nugent, Tammy LeBlanc Leeann Gray, Madison Gray, Grant LeBlanc Cathy Breaux Mar. 24 7:00 am Becky Miller, Clinton Boullion Deacon Denis, Michael Bellard, Patrick Miller, Sylvia Alleman, Darrel Dugas, Georgette Richard, Betty Bellard Christopher Comeaux, Lane Comeaux Michael Doucet 10:00 am Faye Jeffers, Paul Molbert Deacon Tommy, Eva Simon, Al Anderson, Kathy Breaux, Linda Arceneaux, Jared Lawless, Jonathan Broussard, Jonathan Hebert Matthew Molbert, Michael Johnson, Timothy Johnson Melinda Leger 5:30 pm Sarah Ledet Deacon Tim, Randy Bertrand, Blake Breaux, Denise Breaux, Adrienne Dailey, Lance Abshire, Beth Goins Alyssa Picard, Jude Thibodeaux, Heidi Guilbeau Flo Broussard 6:30 am Clinton Boullion Keith Vienne, Randy Bertrand, Mona Vienne Brenda Hooper Mar. 26 12:05 pm Margaret Young Linda Ancona, Daniel Habetz, Mary Guidry Margaret Young Rita Monceaux Mar. 25 Mar. 27 6:30 am Jeanette Leger Barry LeBlanc, Dean Thibodeaux, Rita Monceaux Mar. 28 7:00 pm Holy Thursday A SIGN-UP Mar. 29 3:00 pm Good Friday SHEET Mar. 30 8:00 pm Holy Saturday WILL BE Mar. 31 7:00 am Easter POSTED FOR 10:00 am Sunday THESE 5:30 pm MASSES “We’re breaking in a new organist!” CHURCH NAME AND ADDRESS St. Joseph Church #467550 401 S.
