2nd Sunday of Easter
"Jesus came and stood in their
midst and said to them, 'Peace
be with you.'" The disciples
were paralyzed by fear. After
the Crucifixion, they had
locked themselves in a room and were keeping a low
profile. They didn't want to end up how Jesus had
ended up. But the Lord stepped right into this paranoia
and dispelled it in an instant: "The disciples rejoiced
when they saw the Lord." Although these first
Christians were very concerned about preserving their
lives, the fact is that living holed up in an attic wasn't a
life of much freedom or joy. Jesus wanted his followers
to have the fullness of life, but this required trust in him
and his promises. As today's Gospel puts it, through the
belief that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, "you may
have life in his name." When we come to really accept
who Jesus is, there is no more need for a life of slavery
to fear--whatever that fear may be, whether it's fear for
our health; fear for our reputation; fear for our comfort;
or even fear that our sins are too big for forgiveness.
Today as we celebrate the feast of Divine Mercy, we
remember that God's love is strong enough to conquer
the greatest of all human fears: death itself. This
confidence leads us to a renewed joy. As Pope Francis
wrote in his declaration of this, the Year of Mercy,
"Mercy is the force that reawakens us to new life and
instills in us the courage to look to the future with
hope." Once we are firmly established in this hope, we
are called to be witnesses of mercy to others. The Holy
Father continues with a challenge for all of us, "Jesus
asks us also to forgive and to give. To be instruments of
mercy because it was we who first received mercy from
God."
Prepare for Divine Mercy Sunday,
April 3rd, by putting mercy into
action. “I demand from you deeds
of mercy which are to arise out of
your love for Me. You are to show
mercy to your neighbors always and
everywhere.” (Diary 742). Please
join us for a very special Divine
Mercy celebration at St. Mary’s in
Bath on Sunday, April 3rd from 2:30
– 3:30 p.m. with Exposition, readings from the Gospel
and St. Faustina’s writings, and the Divine Mercy
Chaplet. The hour will close with Benediction. All are
invited afterwards for a reception downstairs.

around the world. You will see how your donations to CRS
Rice Bowl benefit others. If you did not participate, consider

April 10: Donate food or financially to a food bank, food
pantry, parish social ministry program, or Catholic Charities’
Farm for ME program. Volunteer to prepare or serve free
meals at food kitchens in your parish or in your community.
April 17: Do you know someone who is spiritually hungry?
Keep an eye out for faith-sharing groups or faith formation
opportunities in your parish and invite him or her to
accompany you to one.
April 24: Is a family member, friend, or neighbor craving
companionship? Invite them out to lunch. Consider

working closely with lay
leadership mapping out future
plans for our parish. The next step in our strategic plan is
building a much needed MULTI-PURPOSE FACILITY
on the campus of St. John the Baptist. This school gym,
cafeteria, and church hall will provide space for St. John
School programs and activities, to host a variety of Parish
social events, sporting activities and even provide room for a
new Adoration Chapel.

THE REGULAR MONTHLY
COLLECTION FOR FUEL AND
MAINTENANCE, WINTER HELP.
I am eager to see this project come to fruition, but before we
begin the process of raising funds we need to conduct a
campaign planning survey. This review of the entire Parish
will assist us in preparing for our capital campaign by
providing information such as, prospective campaign
leaders, campaign volunteers and allow us to establish a
realistic campaign goal. The study is scheduled from April
4-21 and everyone through various ways (interviews, mailed
surveys, and in pew surveys) will be asked to share their
thoughts about our upcoming campaign. The Steir Group,
our professional development firm, will compile the
information and present their findings to parish leadership at
the end of the month.
I believe that this process is extremely important and I
encourage every parish family to participate. Your input is
valuable as we plan for the future of All Saints Parish.

Coordinator. She will be
responsible for the
management of the daily
office operations of our
Parish. She will also be
supervising the maintenance staff, providing human
resource support and managing parish contracts for
building construction and repairs. Charleen, her
husband Paul and children Sarah and Aidan reside in
Wiscasset and have been members of the St. Patrick
Church Community since 2007. Charleen is a 1998
graduate of Bridgewater State College, with a
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. She is an
active member of the Damariscotta-Newcastle Rotary
Club and also helps to solicit for donations for the St.
Patrick Knights of Columbus’s annual golf
tournament. Her passion is to give others opportunities
that they may not otherwise have. She is excited to join
our parish team and looks forward to helping All Saints
Parish to grow in our relationship with Jesus. Please
give Charleen an enthusiastic welcome and offer your
help and ideas with respect to all the many areas of her
responsibilities.

We had a very successful
Lenten supper series this
year with wonderful
weather and crowds of
wll over 300 people on average. It could not have
happened without the help of the many volunteers who
participated and made it possible! The set-up crew, the
kitchen shoppers, cooks, and servers, the dish and pot
washers, the hall servers, busers and clean up crew
made the work look easy and streamlined. What a
wonderful exhibition of Lenten sacrifice for the sake of
our community organizations. Thank you all, Roger
Brodeur and Marcy McGuire, SJP co-cordinators.

participants this time from Easter to
Pentecost is a post baptismal catechesis time
– also called MYSTAGOGY. This is a time
for the neophytes (newly baptized) and those
coming into Full Communion in the Catholic
Church, along with the members of the
parish, to come closer together as a faith
community, to examine more deeply the
Gospels, to share in the Eucharist, and to do
works of charity. During this joyful time,
their enthusiasm can inspire you, the
parishioners, who in turn can share your
experiences of faith with them. This is a
wonderful time to share your ministries with
the new parishioners – give them the courage
to begin
working with
you through
Jesus Christ.

St. John’s Catholic School is committed to providing a quality,
Catholic, Christian education for each child, who desires to grow.
News from Second Grade with Mrs. Williams: Spring is on its way! We
are very excited for longer days and what we hope will be warmer days!
We can't believe in our room that we are about to begin the third and final
trimester of the year! We have just celebrated our First Reconciliation and
are now putting our focus on First Communion and Confirmation. We will
be celebrating these milestones in our faith journey at the beginning of
May.
In math, we have started multiplication and we are all very happy about
that. We have started with our ten facts first. We are also adding up to
three two digit numbers, subtracting 2 digit numbers with borrowing,
working with money, time, and fractions.
In writing, we have studied the correct way to write a letter with a date,
greeting, body, closing, and signature. We have worked on letters as a
whole class and done some individually. We are going to be starting a
wonderful writing project for the third trimester. Stay tuned to see what
that is! We are working really hard at building our fluency and
comprehension skills in reading. We are taking our time and reading our
stories slowly. We are working on telling more than just a simple fact
about the story. We are using more details so our readers know what is
important with our stories.

Maine Catholic Women’s Conference Set for April 9
at the Hilton Garden Inn Auburn Riverwatch in Auburn.
The theme of the conference will be “Feed My Lambs.” Fr.
Leo Patalinghug will serve as the keynote speaker. Fr.
Patalinghug is the creator of “Grace Before Meals,” an
international apostolate which helps strengthen families and
relationships through God’s gift of a family meal. He is the
host of “Savoring our Faith”on EWTN, co host of
“Entertaining Truth” on Sirius XM Radio, and has appeared
on The Food Network’s “Throwdown! with Bobby Flay.”
The conference will feature a Mass celebrated by Bishop
Deeley, music, demonstrations, vendors, and much more.
The cost is $60 and scholarships are available. The cost of

of Power is coming to
Brunswick! Join All Saints parish
and Bowdoin's Catholic Student
Union for an Hour of Power on the
third Friday of each month at 7 pm. All are welcome
for an hour of Eucharistic Adoration, praise and
worship led by Meaghan Quinlan, and the opportunity
to receive the grace of mercy in the Sacrament
of Reconciliation. Come spend time with our Lord in
