Biography
The British Beat is a musical group that honors an era and its culture. A theatrical,
concert performance made up of five (and sometimes up to seven musicians if requested) who
get it, as The Ventura County Star said, “these guys deliver…”
Featured at fairs, concerts in the park, senior centers, civic events and corporate parties,
the British Beat is a unique and essential component that adds vitality and energy to any
stage.
Founded by lead singer and original keyboardist (Stewart Sher and Robert Simpson) in
2007 the idea was to maintain the soul and vibrancy of British Rock and Roll and its
impact on the world. Their audience includes Boomers, Gen Xers, Millennial, which
is a huge market and cross section of today’s concertgoers.
The British Beat is not simply a one off tribute act…it’s more. It is a variety show in
the truest sense. The British Beat brings to life visually and sonically the period known
as “the British Invasion” and what followed. The musicians:
Peter Harrison (Bass/Vocals) has toured with notable acts including: Jerry Lee Lewis, The Boys,
Glen Campbell, Cult of One, The Motels, Concrete Blonde, Everclear and more. He has also performed
with members of the Beach Boys and Bill Ward of Black Sabbath.
Reed Walsh (guitars/vocals) worked with musicians from Jethro Tull, Blues Image and War--An
L.A. “house” musician for years.
Dan McNamara (drums) has recorded and/or performed with The Beach Boys, Brian Wilson,
Stephen Bishop, Phil Collins, Roger McGuinn, David Crosby, Mickey Dolenz, Davy Jones, the Indigo
Girls, Jan and Dean, The Coasters, Leslie Gore, Mark Lindsay, The Cowsills, Papa Doo Run Run.
Ken Dayton (Keyboards) is originally from Chicago and is a multi-instrumentalist with an extensive
background as an LA keyboardist and drummer.
Joe Sublett (Sax) Grammy and W.C. Handy Award winner, started his career as part of the 1970′s
Austin blues scene playing tenor sax with Paul Ray and The Cobras alongside a twenty-one year old
Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Stewart Sher (vocals) whose passion and knowledge of the British music scene is second to none.
Scott Mitchell (Sax) an L.A. Session player for years.
