With approximately 100 people in attendance, JustWorld International Executive Director Jessica Newman introduced the ‘Donors with a Difference’ concept with further explanation from Rhonda Rioux, Chair of the ‘Jump for a Just World’ Advisory Board and member of the JustWorld International Board of Directors, and JustWorld International Programs Director, Dr. Susan Perry. The unique ‘Donors with a Difference’ concept allows JustWorld International donors, following training, to travel to project sites and witness first-hand the immense impact of their generosity. This opportunity, rarely seen in the not-forprofit world, allows donors to fully understand the difference their donations make in the lives of the underprivileged children that JustWorld International seeks to empower. The life-altering journey continues even after the trip has ended, as donors are encouraged to participate in strategic planning sessions, giving direct input into future programming and ensuring that the resources of JustWorld International are well spent. Friday, January 21 At the Wellington Home of Howard and Maria Newman Cambodia project site on two occasions, and Anne Speiser, who had accompanied two JustWorld International junior rider representatives to Honduras, as they shared their personal experiences illustrated the life changing impact that JustWorld International makes in the lives of underprivileged children in these developing countries. Speaking from an insider’s perspective, Titi Mills, a rider representative from Honduras, further explained the invaluable role JustWorld International plays in her own country. All those interested in becoming a ‘Donor with a Difference’ are invited to attend a training workshop in humanitarian aid on March 14 in Wellington, FL, in preparation for making a future project site visit. In addition to a number of planned visits to Honduras throughout the spring of 2005, a ‘Donors with a Difference’ delegation will visit the JustWorld project site in Senegal this June.
