Please remember that all monies received over the goal are returned to the parish to assist us with our

PRO-LIFE CORNER –
“Nothing we do to defend the human person, no matter how small, is ever
unfruitful or forgotten. Our actions touch other lives and move other hearts in ways we can never fully
understand in this world. Don’t ever underestimate the beauty and power of the witness you give in
your pro-life work.” Archbishop Charles Chaput
FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Dear Parishioners,
I was recently informed that Bishop DiMarzio has assigned a new priest to assist us in the parish.
His name is FATHER EDWIN LOZADA. He comes from Colombia and was ordained a priest in
November of 2013. Father Lozada belongs to the religious community of the Misioneros Contemplativos
Ad-Gentes, which sends priests to work in different parts of the world. I know that all of you join me, all
the priests of the parish and the parish staff in welcoming Father Lozada to Our Lady of Fatima. We pray
that his priestly ministry here will be joyful and fruitful!
Msgr. Mahoney
Queridos Feligreses:

Church Regulations Regarding Fast and Abstinence
Abstinence from meat (beast or fowl) is to be observed by all Catholics fourteen (14) years old and
older on Ash Wednesday and on all Fridays of Lent. This obligation prohibits the eating of meat,
but not eggs, milk products, or condiments of any kind, even though made from animal fat.
Fasting means limiting oneself to one full meal on a given fast day.
Catholics between the ages of 18 and 59 are obliged to fast on Ash Wednesday
and Good Friday.

EASTER GIFT TO THE CHURCH
Next weekend the Second Collection will be for THE EASTER GIFT TO THE CHURCH. As you
know, our church and rectory buildings are over 50 years old and there are always projects that
need attention such as roofing work, carpeting replacement and furniture repair. Unfortunately,
our regular Sunday collections do not come close to covering these and many other maintenance
expenses. We are asking, therefore, that ALL PARISH FAMILIES TRY TO EXERCISE GOOD
STEWARDSHIP AND GIVE A TRULY SACRIFICIAL OFFERING IN THIS YEAR’S EASTER
GIFT COLLECTION. IF POSSIBLE, WE ASK EACH FAMILY TO GIVE A MINIMUM OF $50$100 IN THE EASTER GIFT COLLECTION. THIS IS YOUR CHURCH AND WE NEED YOUR
GENEROUS SUPPORT. THANK YOU!
GRACIAS!
