Dear Parents, Students and Staff,
Wow! Thank you, thank you for participating in our Student
Council sponsored T.E.P.E. (Totally Essential Products Extravaganza)
this week! We are going to be able to help so many families! What a
blessing for our students to see the impact they can make in helping
those in need, and what a blessing for the many families who receive
these gifts! All items and/or WalMart gift card orders must be turned
in by 8 a.m. on Friday. May God bless you for your generosity and
may God bless all of the families helped through TEPE and Giving
Tree!
Great season for our Holy Rosary Speech Team this fall! Congratulations to Ana Lansink, named Holy Rosary Speaker of the Year!
Our speech team members logged so many hours practicing speeches
this season! We are appreciative of all our parents, teachers, and other volunteers for listening to speeches after school and judging at the
meets. We literally could not run our speech program without your
time and talent! Many thanks to Miss Liz Greenwell, our Speech
Coach, for all she does for our speakers and the detailed paperwork
she does in the background to make our students eligible for meets!
Way to go, Speech Team Rams! (See speakers and photos in this
newsletter!)
Today we’ve had some wonderful visitors in our building…
Holy Rosary Catholic School is accredited through the Indiana Department of Education and through AdvancED. Today we participated in
an Internal Review as part of the AdvancED accreditation process. The
Internal Review Team who spent the day at our school included
Michelle Priar, Assistant Superintendent; Theresa Berendes, Resurrection Principal; Darin Knight, Mater Dei Principal; Kalyn Hermann, Sts.
Peter and Paul Principal; and Vickie Wannemuehler, St. Matthew Principal. We are grateful for the time these five administrators gave up
from their own buildings/responsibilities to visit Holy Rosary and let us
share our program with them! We look forward to sharing the results
of this review with all of our stakeholders as we strive for continuous
improvement at Holy Rosary.
You’re all invited to join us for Mass on Tuesday, November
24th for Thanksgiving. We have so much to be grateful for at Holy Rosary! On behalf of our faculty and staff, I want our students and families to know we are so blessed to be a part of this faith and learning
community. Thank you for sharing your children with us and for being
our partners in passing on our faith and caring for kids at Holy Rosary!
God bless you!
Happy Thanksgiving!! We are out of school
Wednesday through Sunday, November 25-29!
With gratitude for the community of Holy Rosary,
Joan Fredrich ☺

Just Thinking by Jim Schroeder, Ph.D.
This month’s series addresses the following questions: What does it (and does not) mean to be “presentminded”? How is present-mindedness connected to health, wellbeing, and parenting? How do we increase our capacity to be
“in the now”?
November’s Just Thinking takes on the ever timely topic of “living in the moment.” The article, “Now: The
Opportunity of a Lifetime” examines this idea on a
closer level. In the midst of our busy, crazy lives, it
goes in search of a better understanding of how the
present, and our ability to harness it, may have more
to do with happiness, health, and harmony than we
ever realized.

I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for
your interest.

IMPORTANT ADVENT PROGRAM INFORMATION!
Dear HR Families,
You are invited to attend the Holy Rosary School Advent Program entitled
“What Christmas is All About”, which will be presented in church on Wednesday, December 9 at 1:00 and 7:00 pm. All students in Grades K-8, including band students,
will be participating in this program. The fourth and fifth grade students will perform recorder music 10 minutes prior to the start of each performance. The Holy Rosary Band
will perform only at the 7:00 pm show.
Students should report to their homerooms between 6:30-6:40 pm on the evening of the performance. Supervision by homeroom teachers will be available starting at
6:30 pm in the students' homerooms.
Please plan on staying for the entire program because “What Christmas is All
About” will feature a grand finale in which the entire play cast as well as all the students
in the school will participate in singing a closing song. Students will be dismissed
through the regular dismissal procedure at 2:45pm following the afternoon performance. Parents and guardians are asked to pick up their children from their homerooms after the evening program has concluded.
Program attire: Students are asked to wear nice dress clothes. Jeans, sweatpants, mini-skirts, or tee-shirts with writing are examples of clothes which are not appropriate attire for students performing in this program. Students should wear their dress
clothes to school on Wednesday, December 9 as they will be performing in the 1:00 pm
show. Please feel free to contact your child’s homeroom teacher or me if you have
questions regarding acceptable attire.
The Advent Program will feature a play entitled “What Christmas is All About”
which will be performed by students in the Eighth Grade Class. This play, written by
Mrs. Maggie Arabia and Miss Abby Kunkel with original music by Miss Kunkel, will
serve as the framework around which each class will sing songs and perform music.
This year’s Advent Program tells the story of two young children learning about the story of Jesus’s birth and the realization of what Christmas is all about.
Thank you for encouraging the developing faith of our
students through your support of this program! We look forward
to seeing you on December 9!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Maggie Arabia
Mrs. Bonnie Ambrose
Miss Abby Kunkel

Breakfast with St. Nicholas
December 5th – 9-10:30AM
St. Nicholas
O good holy Nicholas,
you who brought joy to children,
put in my heart the spirit of childhood
about which the Gospel speaks.
Teach me how to sow
happiness around me. Amen.
On December 6th Catholic families the world over celebrate in honor of
Saint Nick for all his wonderful blessings.
To honor this patron saint of children, our Holy Rosary Family
traditionally comes together to celebrate St. Nicholas’ feast day as well.
This year’s 15th annual Breakfast with St. Nick will be held on
Saturday, December 5th from 9:00am – 10:30am in the Holy Rosary
School cafeteria.
In addition to serving breakfast we will have crafts and a special story
time for the children. St. Nicholas himself will be on hand to tell the story
of how he came to be a saint and a picture of each child with St. Nick is
included in the cost of the event.
Finally, in the spirit of St. Nicholas’ devotion to the
poor, we will be accepting donations of food or
household items to give to those in need. We hope that
each child will consider bringing a canned good or
other item to donate.

Father Daughter Dance
A daughter may outgrow your lap but she will never outgrow your heart.
Put on your Sunday best and make your princess the “Belle of the Ball.” Show her how much you
care by giving her a special night with the most important man in her life. Join other fathers and
their daughters for a Winter Wonderland dance at the Old Post Office in downtown
Evansville. Give her a night to remember as you make incredible memories - we suggest treating her
to a special dinner, flowers or even a heartfelt, handwritten letter telling her how special she really
is. A photographer will capture a posed picture ($8-5x7) of you and your princess and remember to
take advantage of the photo booth for those silly, creative and fun shots. So, dust off those dancing
shoes and give her the experience of a lifetime!!

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
Eucharistic Adoration is the worship, praise and adoration of
Jesus Christ present in the Holy Eucharist.
Spending time before the Blessed Sacrament, in prayer and devotion,
is the same as spending time before the living God.
Adoration can include Scripture readings, hymns, prayers and time for silent adoration.
Holy Rosary’s Eucharistic Adoration Chapel offers a peaceful environment. It is our
goal to provide two scheduled adorers during each hour of Eucharistic Adoration.
Please review the current schedule and consider signing up in a time of need.
May God surround you with his warmth and love and may your life be full of
His peace as you seek to have a closer relationship with Him.

Competitor Divisions and Team Composition
The competition will consist of three divisions: Professional, Amateur, and Youth.
Professional: The Professional division consists of individuals or teams that are involved in the culinary arts in any
capacity. Examples of this would include: Current or past students of culinary arts programs; chefs, cooks, bakers or
pastry artists of restaurants, bakeries, cake shops, dining facilities; individuals who have a named business that sells
pastries or cakes. Amateurs may also compete in the Professional Division if they feel their skills are comparable.
Amateur: The Amateur division consists of individuals over the age of 18 who are NOT involved in the culinary arts
as a profession or who does not have an education in culinary arts. Amateurs would include individuals who bake
cakes or pastries as a hobby only. Also, an amateur team may consist of an adult and up to two youth members
(any age, as long as they are properly supervised).
1
Youth: The Youth division consists of individuals or teams that are in 4th to 12th grades (change from past years).
Adult supervision is necessary for youth that are younger than high school age; adults may only supervise and
cannot contribute to the building or design of the gingerbread piece.
Team Composition: An individual who competes solo in the competition should designate himself or herself as the
team leader on the application. Teams of up to three individuals may compete as well. Thus, teams of one, two or
three people are acceptable. In the Amateur division, a team can consist of an adult and up to two children, two
adults and one child, or three adults.
If a potential competitor is unsure of the division to choose, please contact Shari Gesser at Aurora at
sgesser@auroraevansville.org or 812-428-3246.
The identified team leader on the application will be the point of contact for all communication from Aurora.
Competitor Sponsorships & Fees
Each team is required to be sponsored by an individual, group, school, or business.
Benefits of team sponsors:
 Alleviates financial burden of entry fee to the teams. Teams are only responsible for buying their supplies.
 Teams get event t-shirts for free!
 Increases participation of community partners and businesses.
 Promotional opportunity for businesses, groups and schools at a VERY affordable price (compared to other
event sponsorship opportunities).
 Wider audiences are reached because businesses/groups will promote.
 Increase revenue for Aurora in order to continue its mission to end homelessness
What does this mean for competitors?
 Competitor spots will be filled much quicker and applications should be submitted as soon as possible.
 Competitors will be assigned a sponsor UNLESS the competitor already has one. If this is the case, notify
Aurora as soon as possible. For example, owners of a bakery would want to take advantage of sponsoring
their own team in order to market their business to potential and existing customers.
 If you own a business and you are competing but are not sponsoring your team, you are not allowed to
display any advertising materials.
A committee of staff and volunteers of Aurora are working to secure sponsorships for each of the 70 teams, BUT
we could really use your help. We encourage businesses, groups, and schools to find a sponsor or sponsor
themselves to take advantage of this great marketing opportunity—reaching 1000+ people from the local and
regional area --- and support Aurora while doing so.
Team Sponsorship includes:




Payment of Entry Fee for the team
T-Shirts for Competitors, including your Company Name on the back—TEAM “YOUR BUSINESS”
Advertisement at the event: Table banner and/or other small signage on competitors’ tables, brochures,
flyers, and business cards
Program and event sign listing
Professional Team Sponsor - $300
Amateur Team Sponsor - $200
Youth Team Sponsor - $100
If interested in sponsoring your team or multiple teams, contact Shari Gesser at 812-428-3246 or
