Resources for Students and Parents in the
College Shopping Process
Compare schools using the College Score Card.
Students can narrow down their school choices using individual preferences and
the results will not only give you admissions requirements but financial aid
resources including expected costs by family incomes.
The Financial Aid Shopping Sheet (PDF)
6.pdf) is a consumer tool that participating institutions will use to notify students about
their financial aid package. It is a standardized form that is designed to simplify the
information that prospective students receive about costs and financial aid so that they can
easily compare institutions and make informed decisions about where to attend school.
Consider completing the FAFSA worksheet
(https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/sites/default/files/2015-16-fafsaworksheet.pdf?ep_mid=11178908&ep_rid=37517578) before filling out the online form. It
will make the process much easier. More questions? Contact your student's counselor or
better yet, call a local college or university's financial aid office. They welcome your
questions now as it tends to make things easier for them down the road when potential
problems may arise.
Both Parent and Student need an FSA ID.
Getting an FSA ID
You’ll need an FSA ID, a username and password combination that allows you to sign your FAFSA
electronically. Your FSA ID also can be used to sign loan contracts and to access certain information online. You
can get your FSA ID as you fill out the FAFSA, but you also have the option to get it ahead of time. Find
out how to get an FSA ID (https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa/filling-out/fsaid) and what to do if you forgot your FSA ID.

Community Announcements
Caledonia Community Schools Says Thanks!
Caledonia Community Schools and Aramark Food Service would like to
thank you for participating in our electronic deposit system
http://www.sendmoneytoschool.com, and maintaining your students
account with positive balances.
As a means of saying thanks, Caledonia Community Schools is going to
absorb the bank administrative fee of your transaction for the month of
January 2016. This is also an effort to save our families a little bit of
money, especially after the holidays. As always, our electronic deposit
has alleviated the amount of cash the students have to carry internally to
pay for their food.
The program also allows you as the parent to see what your student is
purchasing and eating on a daily basis. If you do not have an account you
can create it in a few minutes by going to the web page listed above.
Questions on opening your account can be directed to the Food Service
Office at (616) 891-0227. We try to do our best to promote healthy
eating and provide quality meals, which include fresh fruit and fresh
vegetables
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in your students’
life.
