2014 REPORT TO T H E C O M M U N I T Y Lander Campus Steve Erixon, CEO SageWest Health Care At SageWest Health Care, Contributing to our local tax base our goal is to deliver the best healthcare available in Central Wyoming, as we seek to make our community healthier. With the help of dedicated physicians, employees, volunteers and board members, along with your support and encouragement, we continue our passionate pursuit of excellence. Last year, SageWest Health Care paid $387,772 in taxes which helped support our city, county and state. This included state sales taxes as well as property taxes. These dollars help maintain local schools, fund the development of roads, recruit business and industry, and provide other similar services vital to support and sustain a thriving economy. Delivering quality healthcare close to home is the single most important contribution we make. But there are many other ways we make a positive impact on the communities we serve. Here are a few of the ways we are making a difference. Nearly $2.9 million in capital improvements In 2014, we completed the addition of a new telemetry system. We also added new equipment and made a number of quality improvements to our state-of-the-art facilities including a 64-slice CT scanner, upgraded information technology systems in our women’s health units and added a wound care and hyperbaric oxygen treatment center. In 2015, we will begin major upgrades of the admission areas, the emergency department and the behavioral health unit. In fact, we invested $2,888,580 in our facilities last year which, in addition to the above, included technology replacement, information technology additions/updates, and important facility upkeep and maintenance. Helping those in need SageWest Health Care is committed to ensuring the delivery of needed healthcare to all members of the community, regardless of ability to pay. Last year, the cost to SageWest Health Care was nearly $5.8 million to provide services for those without the ability to pay for their care. Adding new physicians During the past year, SageWest Health Care added five new physicians to our highly respected medical staff, including specialists in anesthesia and interventional pain, emergency medicine, family medicine, and general and bariatric surgery. One of our community’s major employers With an annual payroll of $30,449,331 and an average of 440 employees, SageWest Health Care is one of the largest employers in the region. This means that our staff and family members attend many of the same schools, shop at the same stores and volunteer their time and resources for the same organizations as you do. We thank you for choosing us for your healthcare needs. With your support, we can continue making our community healthier. 1320 Bishop Randall Drive • Lander, Wyoming 82520 • (307) 332-4420 • SageWestHealthCare.com 2100 West Sunset Drive • Riverton, Wyoming 82501 • (307) 856-4161 • SageWestHealthCare.com 2014 REPORT TO T H E C O M M U N I T Y Riverton Campus Board of Trustees – 2015 OFFICERS Joe Quiroz, Chairman Business and Organizational Management Consultant Jo Anne McFarland, PhD, Vice-Chair Retired, President, Central Wyoming College MEMBERS Bill Alley Retired, School Administrator Scott Bender, MD General Surgeon, Wind River Clinic Dennis Christensen Owner/Operator, Dennis Christensen Farms Tom Dunaway, MD Vice Chief of Staff OB/GYN, Lander Women’s Care Steve Erixon CEO, SageWest Health Care Alice Ferris, Emeritus Homemaker, Community Member Janet Frost, MD OB/GYN, Rendezvous Women’s Health Roger Gose, MD, Emeritus Retired, Internal Medicine Mike Jones Independent Business Consultant Cielette Karn, MD Chief of Staff Pathologist, SageWest Health Care, Riverton Susan Pearson, MD Family Medicine, Lander Family Medicine Lorrie Pozarik Injury Prevention Consultant Dianne Tippets Principle, Tippets Appraisal Travis Walker, MD General Surgeon, Walker Surgery and Endoscopy COMMUNITY BENEFIT REPORT Charity and other uncompensated care...........................................................................................$ 5,765,652 Includes unpaid cost of Medicaid as well as charity care and other uncompensated care Community benefit programs......................................................................................................................$ Financial contributions............................................................................................ $ 40,401 Professional development.................................................................................... $ 58,548 Tuition reimbursement........................................................................................... $ 17,179 Community health services................................................................................. $ 60,000 Physician recruitment.............................................................................................. $729,556 905,684 Taxes paid.............................................................................................................................................................................$387,772 Property and other taxes..................................................................................... $279,772 State sales tax.............................................................................................................. $108,000 2014 TOTAL......................................................................................................................$ 7,059,108 SPONSORSHIPS AND DONATIONS SageWest Health Care and our employees are pleased to have been able to support the following activities and organizations during the past year: • American Cancer Society – Relay For Life • Central Wyoming College Department of Nursing • Child Development Services • Community Entry Services • Fremont County 4-H and FFA • Fremont County Fair • Fremont County Solutions Committee • Hats Off For Hope Gala • Help For Health Hospice • Injury Prevention Resources • Kiwanis International • Lander Area Chamber of Commerce • Lander Arts Center • Lander Care and Share Foodbank • Lander Children’s Museum • Lander Country Club • Lander Nordic Ski Association SageWest Health Care is part of LifePoint Health, a leading healthcare company dedicated to Making Communities Healthier ®.
