We should familiarize ourselves with as many
phrases and words, and try to build a large
vocabulary in Japanese.
This book deals with the techniques ofKusarifundo and shuriken-jutsu with regards to the
Masaaki ryu.
Charles Gruzanski was one of the fIrst foreigners
to travel and train extensively in Japan in the
older budo arts.
The first part of the book covers the history,
development, special characteristics and
advantages of the manrikugusari. Also covered
are proper gripping of the manriki, kamae and
various kata. There is also a short chapter on
Kyusho (vital points) and one on building a
manriki gusari (also called a Kusari fundo).
The second part of the book deals with throwing
and handling the bo shuriken (throwing spikes).
Explained is the history of Masaaki ryu dealing
with shuriken, gripping techniques, throwing
manufacturing your own shuriken. There is also
a very short chapter on hira shuriken (throwing
stars).
I've given this book a four-shuriken rating.

True victory relies not upon you, but on your

You have only to wait for it to happen. Do not
search for victory or seek gain, allow it to
happen naturally.
