Detectives in Upper Keys CIU are really getting in to
the holiday spirit complete with seasonal ties and
office decorations.
Members of the Sheriff’s Office attended a ceremony to
dedicate the Purple Heart Trail to recognize veterans who
are recipients of the prestigious Purple Heart medal.

The annual Leadership Monroe bike drive collected 98 bikes for
kids this year. Thanks to all who helped with this effort. Special
thanks to the following: Pam Albury, All Keys Gas, Jo Socha, Waste
Management, Boondocks, Parmer’s Resort, DJ’s Clam Shack,
Teamsters Local 769, Aramark, Armor, Doug and Sue Harrison,
Keefe, ICSolutions, Keys Federal Credit Union, Eric Griffin, Kim
Jones, Debra Mason, Gretchen Holland, Mac Consulting and
Services, Jeff Olsen and Touchpay, the entire MCSO team and
a special thanks to the Bureau of Corrections for all their effort.
Special shout out to Nestor and Alex in maintenance for teaching
the inmates a new skill as they put together bike after bike.
From Sgt. Linda Mixon: On Thursday Lt. Patrick Major,
Corrections Officer Denise Dery and Deputy James
Hager unloaded hundreds of toys for the holiday helpers
giveaway in Marathon. I want to thank them for their
consistent commitment to our community and to the
Holiday Helpers program. I especially want to thank Lt.
Major for transporting them all from Key West to Marathon.
You’ve all helped give Christmas to over 200 local families.

Marathon held their annual formal inspection last Friday at the Marathon Hanger. Everyone passed with flying colors,
despite Major Caputo’s efforts to the contrary....and they all feasted together afterward.

staying in school,
getting good grades
