Diabetes
Scholars
F O U N D A T I O N
empowerment through education
The Diabetes Scholars Foundation is a unique organization that
awards college scholarships to students with Type 1 diabetes.
We also fund conference scholarships for kids with Type 1 and
their families.
Since 2005 we have awarded over 150 scholarships for families to attend diabetes
education conferences (childrenwithdiabetes.com). These specially designed
programs elicit enthusiastic response from participants—“this was life changing for
us” and “we feel like we’re part of a new family.”
In 2008, we initiated our college scholarship program. Since then we have awarded
almost $300,000 in college scholarships. Being the only foundation with a scholarship
program open to all students in the United States with Type 1 diabetes, we are
especially proud of our scholars as they pursue higher education at prestigious
schools. Some of the schools our recipients are attending include Harvard, Yale,
Dartmouth, Stanford, University of Chicago, Northwestern, Duke and Boston College.
