OCTOBER COUNT
Very Important!
Each weekend in October, a count is made of the
attendance at the Masses. These figures are
forwarded to the Diocese to help determine future
decisions in the organization of the parishes and
alignment of clergy. It is important to the
parish that we all attend Mass here and
not elsewhere during October.

Survey of Parish Life
Dear members of our Saint Mark Parish family,
We are strong and on the move, like Jesus in
the Gospel of Saint Mark, and we are planning and
working for a future that ensures we continue to be
vibrant, healthy and sustainable. To that end, we
need everyone’s help.
To assist us in our planning efforts, our Pastoral
Council crafted a survey to help us gauge ourselves in
the five essential qualities of parish life: 1)
Eucharist; 2) Evangelization; 3) Catechesis; 4)
Formation; and 5) Stewardship, as per Bishop
Zubik’s Pastoral Letter, The Church Alive!
Therefore, the survey is to be distributed at
the Masses on October 13-14, and October 2021, to those in attendance. We also are offering an
online version of the survey(www.saintmarkdiopitt.org)
for anyone who may want to complete the survey
electronically. I encourage online completion for
those who are able to facilitate the tabulation of our
responses. Online version is available from 13
October to 21 October.
To assist us in every way necessary,
members of our Pastoral Council are making
themselves available at each Mass on those
weekends to individually discuss this survey and
answer any questions we may have.
Finally, in advance of our completion of the
survey, we ask that we all take some time for
prayer and reflection over the five essential
qualities of parish life, asking the Holy Spirit to help
us put aside any distractions, in order for us to
accurately gauge the quality of life for our Saint Mark
Parish family.
Thank you! And God bless our Saint
Mark Parish family!
Five Essential Qualities of Parish Life
as per THE CHURCH ALIVE!
Eucharist: How the parish comes together to express its life
in Christ – the way we recognize and celebrate God in the
Mass and in the celebration of the Sacraments.
Evangelization: How the parish continues to spread the
Good News of Jesus Christ so to bring God to others (and
others to God).
Catechesis: How all parishioners are educated in the
Scriptures and Tradition of the Church – to live our Faith, we
need to know our Faith.
Formation: How the parish promotes a lived faith which is
bold, courageous and effective – our lives express and reveal
our relationship with Jesus Christ.
Stewardship: How the parish offers thanksgiving for the
many gifts of God and shares those gifts through acts of
service – we give of ourselves in loving self-sacrifice for the
greater glory of God, the betterment of one another (now and
future generations) and for our own salvation.

APPEAL for SUPPORT
Graduates of our Religious Education Program are
speaking about their experience in our Saint
Mark Parish Religious Education CCD
Program at all Masses the weekend of
September 29th and 30th.
They are describing how our program enriched their
Catholic Faith formation and taught them that to live
their faith, they need to know their faith. We are asking for your financial support to help our children
become who they are supposed to be; the future of
Saint Mark Parish.
Support envelopes are in the pews for your
contribution to our program. Your generosity is an
investment in OUR children's Faith formation.
Thank you! And GOD bless you!
To live our Faith, we need to know our Faith!

To live our Faith, we need to know our Faith!
Year of Faith:
11 October 2012 to 24 November 2013
"…They called the Church together and reported what GOD had
done with them and how He had opened the door of faith..."
(Acts of the Apostles 14:27).
"The 'door of faith' (Acts 14:27) is always open for us, ushering us into the life of
communion with GOD and offering entry into His Church."---Pope Benedict XVI, Apos-
tolic Letter Porta Fidei for the Indiction of the Year of Faith.
Pope Benedict XVI announced a special “Year of Faith” to help Catholics appreciate
the gift of faith, deepen their relationship with God and strengthen their commitment to
sharing faith with others.
The Pope said the observance would begin October 11, 2012 – the 50th anniversary
of the opening of the Second Vatican Council - and conclude November 24,
2013 – the feast of Christ the King.
He said the Catechism of the Catholic Church, first published in 1992, is to serve as
the handbook for helping Catholics rediscover the truths of faith and deepen their understanding of church teaching.
Throughout the upcoming year we are providing a variety of information based on the
Catechism designed to help us explore, deepen, and celebrate our faith.
THANK YOU! I Praise God for YOU!
Although my horses “Workin’ Together” and “Takin’ Care of Business” did not win at our Night at
the Races, the entire weekend was a huge success! We truly worked together as a parish family
to take care of the business of cleaning and rearranging our classrooms for Religious Education
and prepare for the Music/Liturgical Ministry and Food Bank rooms. For all who helped
prepare, plan and assist with all of these parish family activities, I thank you and I praise God for
you! Rejoice and be glad, God loves us with a mighty and tender love!!!
