Woodstock Jamboree Delivers Premium Bluegrass to
Northwest Georgia
The Jot 'Em Down Boys entertain at the Woodstock Bluegrass Jamboree on June 7, 2014.
Just off I-575 in the northwest Atlanta metro area, the
Woodstock Bluegrasss Jamboree continues to provide an
outstanding entertainment experience. The concerts occur
on the first Saturday of the month and are held at the
acoustically-friendly Woodstock Community Church on
Rope Mill Road in Woodstock. The events feature a guest
band to open at the show at 7pm and are followed by the
Jot 'Em Down Boys as the feature act at 8pm.
Many of you are familiar with the venue – SEBA
hosted our annual meeting there last year and the Marrietta
Chapter meets there monthly. The Jamboree leverages the
great amenities and sound system at the church to provide
a memorable event for listeners and performers alike.
The Jot 'Em Down Boys started the tradition with a
performance at the church in 2011 and continue to anchor
the Jamboree events today. Their high quality

songs, impressive original pieces, and excellent

banjo, Bob Putnam on guitar, Cliff Tyman on mandolin,
and Danny Bermel on fiddle.

From the Editor’s Desk
Welcome back for another edition of the Breakdown. Thanks to
y'all for your patience as I scrambled to get the last issue of the
newsletter out to you on short notice. This month, we have a bit
more news content, but we are still lacking broad-based input
from the membership that can help maximize the quality of our
publication. With that in mind, I encourage you to sumbit ideas,
pictures, and articles about bands, venues, events, etc. that will
interest our bluegrass community. Meanwhile, I'll continue to
seek out and showcase SEBA members in action and report back
to you.
Have a great July and don't forget to take advantage of the
festivals, jams, and other bluegrass events that are coming to
your area this month.
Mike Wood, Acting Breakdown Editor
Until next month keep posting those events at

FROM THE PRESIDENTS DESK
Well Folk's summer has arrived and with it some of the best Bluegrass Festivals and Events around.
Bear on the Square was a great success and I would like to thank the following folks that gave up some of
their time to work the SEBA tent at this event. Thanks to Joe Matteson, Dr. Carol Falck, Tony Mass, John
Brown, Danette Kellner, Rebecca Lawson, Joe Surowiec, Mike Wood,John Stockard, Charlie Robinson. Also
Thank You to all the folks that stopped by the SEBA table and visited and we appreciate all the new members
that decided to join SEBA.
Speaking of Festivals, What a great time was had by all at the Armuchee Memorial Weekend Bluegrass
Festival. The campers began to arrive on the Monday before the festival and kept coming in all week long.
Also the jammin started on Monday night and continued every night on through the week. We had a large
crowd for the covered dish dinner on Thursday night and the stage was filled with a fine lineup of bands for
the weekend. It was a pickers and listener’s delight because you could not walk through the campground
without finding good bluegrass every where you looked from the stage all the way through the campground to
the bottoms. As you might have guessed I have been a part of this festival for many years and it is very special
to me because I get to see all the bluegrass family I have been blessed to know. I call it a pickers reunion
festival .
We owe a Very Special Thank You to Mr. Chuck Langley and Family for keeping this festival going for the
past 43 years, and I am proud to be a part of it. I would also like to thank Helen and Jerry Burke,Paul
Flood,Albert Blair,Gene Tatum, Phyllis Cole, Teresa Rose, Meghan Swanson, Stan Pinion and all others who
helped to make this one great. And I hope to see each and everyone of our Bluegrass family at the Labor Day
Festival this year.
I also want to remind everyone that we will need volunteers to help with a workday before the Labor Day
festival. Please send me an email at president@sebabluegrass.org if you would like to help. We will announce
the date as soon as we have all the information.
This year SEBA will be celebrating our 30th anniversary at our annual meeting and I need your ideas to help the
board make this a great event. Anything you can think of that would help us in our planning would be helpful.
Food suggestions, entertainment suggestions, location suggestions “must have kitchen”, let us know what you think.
Just put them in a email and send them to President@sebabluegrass.org or you can mail them to our regular
address SEBA PO BOX 20286 Atlanta,Ga. 30325 “attn Dan” or you may call me if you like 770-900-7472
I greatly value every members input and hope to hear from you soon. Thanks for your attention to this matter.
In closing I hope to see you at an upcoming event soon and get to jam some or just visit a bit. And until then.
