JESUS CHRIST IS RISEN TODAY,
ALLELUIA, ALLELUIA. Today we
celebrate with great joy the day
of our Lord’s Resurrection and His
victory over sin and death. Today
we also begin the Easter Season,
our 50-day meditation on the mystery of
Christ's Resurrection. Our Gospel today tells
us about the disciples' discovery of the empty
tomb. Each of the four Gospels tells us that
Jesus' empty tomb was first discovered by
women. This is notable because in firstcentury Jewish society women could not
serve as legal witnesses. In the case of
John's Gospel, the only woman discovering
the empty tomb is Mary of Magdala. Unlike the
accounts in the other Gospels, John's Gospel
does not describe an appearance of angels at
the tomb. Instead, Mary is simply said to have
observed that the stone that had sealed the
tomb had been moved, and she runs to alert
Simon Peter and the beloved disciple. Her
statement to them is telling. She assumes
that Jesus' body has been removed, perhaps
stolen. She does not consider that Jesus has
been raised from the dead.
Simon Peter and John, the beloved disciple,
race to the tomb, presumably to verify Mary's
report. John arrives first but does not enter
the tomb until after Simon Peter. This detail
paints a vivid picture, as does the detail
provided about the burial cloths. Some
scholars believe that the presence of the
burial cloths in the tomb offers evidence that
Jesus' body had not been stolen because
grave robbers would have taken the burial
cloths with the body.
Today’s Gospel passage concludes with the
disciples not fully understanding Jesus’
Resurrection. In the passage that follows,
Mary of Magdala meets Jesus but mistakes
Him for a gardener. In the weeks ahead, the
Gospel readings in our liturgies will show us
how the disciples came to believe in Jesus'
Resurrection through His appearances to
them. Our Easter faith is based on their
witness to the empty tomb, their later
encounters with our Risen Lord and their
ongoing relationship with Him.

Early Registration Information
Please register early! This enables the school to
better plan for next year to give your child the very
best we can. The registration fee after March 24th
until the last day of school is $100. After the last day
of school until June 30th the fee increases to $150.
After June 30th until the start of the school year the
fee increases to $200. If you have any questions
about the registration process, please do not hesitate
to contact Principal Joe Carlson.

challenge of also seeing and believing the resurrection
that comes through our own lives of self-sacrifice which
brings new life to others.

fellowship with friends and family. There will
be games, silent and live auctions, bucket
raffle items, 50/50 drawing and public raffle.
The winner of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee will
also be announced at the Spring Fling!
The annual Spring Fling is the school’s
largest fundraiser of the year and a great
source of revenue for the school. The money
raised will help fund tuition assistance for
the school families in need, as well as other
projects that benefit the school and its
current and future students.
Scholarship applications and
information about them can be picked
up at the Parish Office or the Faith
Formation Office. The applications
must be returned to Father Fran no later
than May 2, 2016. Please feel free to call

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS NEWS
TOOTSIE ROLL DRIVE
No, the Knights of Columbus has
not taken to selling Tootsie Rolls.
The Nickname is due to the nature of the fundraiser,
in which Knights distribute Tootsie Rolls in exchange
for donations used to support programs geared to
improve the quality of life for people with disabilities. The drive will be held April 1-3 at local stores
and parishes.
Brother Knights and Ladies Auxiliary, there will be a
Social Meeting on Monday, March 28th at 7:00 pm.

YEAR OF MERCY PILGRIMAGE
TO THE MARIAN SHRINES IN WISCONSIN

This three day/two night pilgrimage takes you
to the three Marian shrines in Wisconsin
where you will get the chance to obtain the
Plenary Indulgence for the Year of Mercy and
participate in the celebration of the Holy Mass
at each shrine with Bishop John Doerfler of
the Diocese of Marquette serving as the
principal celebrant. Bishop John will lead the
pilgrimage which will visit the Shrine of Our
Lady of Good Help in New Franken, the
Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary Help of
Christians at Holy Hill in Hubertus and The
Shrine of our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse.
During your pilgrimage you will see some of
the unique aspects such as the gravesite of
Adele Brise at the Shrine of our Lady of Good
Help and the scenic tower at Holy Hill. Free
time on your own will be available to visit
devotional areas, grottos and gift shops. Tour
Cost: $563.00 for single occupancy; $399 per
person for double occupancy, $343 per person
for triple occupancy and $313 per person for
quad occupancy. Reservation deadline is June

CAN TABS FOR OSF HEALTH WATCH
We continue to collect can tabs as an
endeavor. The tabs can be dropped off at the
Faith Formation Office or left in the greeting

A DAY AT THE MOVIES
FUNDRAISER
FOR PREGNANCY SERVICES
OF DELTA COUNTY!
Willow Creek Cinema in Escanaba will be showing a
special screening of God’s Not Dead 2 on Saturday, April
2nd at 10 am. They will be donating 50% of the proceeds
from ticket sales to Pregnancy Services! Cost for the
matinee showing is $6.00. Spend some time with family
and friends, and support this vital ministry at the same
time. Spread the word! This Christian movie is rated PG.
The Delta County American Red Cross Disaster team is
offering a new smoke detector program. They will install
new 10-year smoke detectors free of charge. This program
is open to anyone 50 years of age & up. There are no other

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY
PRAYER SERVICE
NEXT SUNDAY 2-3:00 PM

Next Sunday, April 3rd, a prayer service
will be held here at St. Anne’s from 2:00 to
3:00. The service will include Adoration of
the Blessed Sacrament, Opportunity for
Confession, Prayer Time, Scripture Meditations, Reciting of The Chaplet of Divine
Mercy, Benediction and Closing Song.
Jesus told St. Faustina that this Feast of Mercy would be a
very special day when “all the divine floodgates through
which graces flow are opened”. (Diary 699) Our Lord made a
great promise to all those souls who would go to Confession
and then receive Him in Holy Communion on the Feast of
Mercy, on the Sunday after Easter, which is now called
Divine Mercy Sunday throughout the Catholic Church. Jesus
promised that “the soul that will go to Confession and
receive Holy Communion shall obtain the complete forgiveness of sins and punishment.” (Diary 699)

A Life in the Spirit Seminar

Jesus said to St. Faustina "I am offering people a vessel with
which they are to keep coming for graces to the fountain of
mercy. That vessel is this image with the signature: “Jesus,
I trust in You". (Diary 327) “The two rays denote Blood and
Water. The pale ray stands for the Water which makes souls
righteous. The red ray stands for the Blood which is the life
of souls. These two rays issued forth from the very depths of
My tender mercy when My agonized Heart was opened by a
lance on the cross. …Happy is the one who will dwell in their
shelter, for the just hand of God shall not lay hold of Him.”

About the feast day "Divine Mercy Sunday", Jesus said "…tell
the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. I desire that
the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and
especially poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My
tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces
upon the souls who approach the Fount of My Mercy. On
that day all the divine floodgates through which graces flow
are opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even
though its sins be as scarlet.... Mankind will not have peace
until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy." (Diary 699)
Our Lord said "When you go to confession, to this fountain
before Me, the person of the priest is… only a screen. Never
analyze what sort of a priest that I am making use of; open
your soul in confession to Me, and I will fill it with My light."
