DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY
APRIL 3, 2016
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
Pg. 3
From the Pastor’s Desk
It was like a dream! The Easter came and is gone! But the most important thing of all are the days preceding it, days
of spiritual preparation offered to us by the church by reminding us of the need for the reception of the Sacraments, fonts of
Divine Grace and Mercy.
The participation at the Holy Week liturgies were a little low. However, Easter Sunday Masses were standing room
only! We were able to install the TV screens in the church (used strictly for liturgical purposes only) just in time before the
Holy Week . They were very helpful to all of us to follow the readings with appropriate pictures, and upon returning home,
to reflect on the messages presented to us.
Yes, I wish to say a Big Thank You to all those who chipped in to do the necessary work in and around church, in
preparation for all the Lenten Programs: “The Living Stations”, “Through the Eyes of Mary”, etc. The participation of the
choirs and the manual help in setting up for the liturgies are much appreciated. My special thanks to the two Deacons, the
rectory office staff and Fr. Sylvester for their generosity in carrying out their duties and doing all that was to be done seeing
to all the minute details. Also I would like to say a word of special thanks to Dana Montana of Grape Vine Garden & Floral
Company for the discounted price of flowers, delivery and arranging them beautifully. I also wish to express my heartfelt
thanks for your Holy Week and Easter donations to the Church. Your generosity is greatly appreciated and much needed.
I would like to invite all hard working volunteers for an appreciation reception on Saturday, April 23rd after
the 4:30 Mass. Please save the date. If you came only once or come many times, please remember your service meant a
lot to me. Please call the rectory, 718-317-9772 and let us know of your attendance so we can prepare adequately. On another note, we are calling for proposals from Landscapers, as well as Lawn Sprinkler Maintenance system companies.
Please send your proposals in a sealed envelope, attention Pastor, OLHC. We are also looking for a retired maintenance
person to work an hour or two daily in the Church and Rectory.
As we celebrate the risen Lord, let us continue to think of the sacrifice that He made for us. Your sacrifice to help
others across the Archdiocese will not go unnoticed. Lastly, during this Jubilee Year of Mercy, let us all be merciful to one
another as Jesus is for all of us. In doing so, let us continue to support The Cardinal’s Annual Stewardship Appeal in any
way we can.
May God Bless you. Fr. Frank
