STATEMENT OF
ARCHBISHOP CHARLES J.
CHAPUT, O.F.M. CAP.
REGARDING SHOOTINGS
IN ORLANDO
The recent violent acts committed in Orlando are horrific
and they fill all of us with an unspeakable sadness.
Innocent and precious lives were lost in a senseless and evil
way. The family and friends of those who perished now
shoulder a heavy burden of grief and suffering.
As Christians, our duty is to pray for those whose lives
were ended by the inexcusable cruelty of others and to ask
God to pour his comforting grace upon all those who are in
mourning.
Father’s day greetings
Throughout our nation, this Sunday, June 19th, is
observed as Father’s Day, on which we honor all
those men who fulfill the responsibilities of
fatherhood. Their love and strength, generosity and
encouragement flow from attributes whose source is
God the Father. In word and deed, virtuous fathers
are viewed as a true reflection of the One whom
Jesus called “Abba” (Loving Father). To them we
extend our appreciation, respect and reflection.
Happy Father’s Day to our Dads!
+Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap.
Archbishop of Philadelphia
Thank you for a wonderful, friendly
evening!!
For a few pleasant hours last Sunday, June 12th, in the
Parish Hall, parishioners had the opportunity of welcoming
Father Eder Estrada, a Franciscan of Mary, who will be
their new Pastor, and offering best wishes to Father Peter
Welsh and Father John Oulds who will undertaking
different tasks in their priestly ministry. Father Eder, Peter
and John wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to the
thoughtful and kind committee members who so
successfully put the event together and carried it through.
Their sincerest appreciation, likewise, is extended to all
who made the special effort to attending “the hail and
farewell” that night. Thank you. Let us keep one another in
our prayers.

Visitation of the Relics of St. Thomas
More & St. John Fisher – June 25
All are invited to venerate the relics of two saints who
exemplified courage and conviction in the face of
persecution, St. Thomas More and St. John Fisher. They
were prominent 16th century Englishmen who stood
against King Henry VIII’s attempted supremacy over the
Catholic Church, accepting martyrdom instead of
abandoning their faith. It isn’t easy to stand up for your
faith in the public square. Draw strength from those who
already have! The sacred relics will be present at the
Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Philadelphia
on Sat, June 25, 2016. The event begins at 4pm with a
presentation on the relics, followed by Mass and veneration
of the relics. For more information, visit:

“In the heart of Jesus, which was pierced, the
kingdom of heaven and the land of earth are
bound together. Here is for us the source of life.
This heart is the heart of the Triune Divinity, and
the center of all human hearts... It draws us to
itself with secret power, it conceals us in itself in
the Father's bosom and floods us with the Holy
Spirit. This heart, it beats for us in a small
tabernacle where it remains mysteriously hidden
in that still, white host.” -- St. Edith Stein

Padre Eder, Padre Peter y Padre John quieren
