SAINT THOMAS AQUINAS CATHEDRAL 310 WEST 2ND STREET, RENO, NV 89503 September 13, 2015 Most Rev Randolph R. Calvo JCD DD, Bishop of Reno FROM BISHOP CALVO Fr Jacob Carazo, OFM Conv Rector Fr Paul Fazio, O F M C o n v Parochial Vicar Fr Tom Hamilton, O F M C o n v Franciscan community Robert Dangel, Joseph Bell, Deacons Parish Office Hours Monday: 1:30-4:00 PM Tuesday, Wednesday & Thurs: 8:30-Noon & 1:30-4:00 PM Friday: 8:30-Noon S Rocío Grady Parish Secretary Deacon Richard Ramm Administrator for Temporalities Jack Hallsted Bookstore Manager Mary Ann-108 Bookkeeping The Holy Father has recently announced a Year of Mercy for the church. Along with the announcement, Pope Francis has granted priests throughout the world the faculty, or ability, to forgive the sin of abor on. The lack of explana on of this special ability granted by the Holy Father and an o en misinformed media has been a source of confusion. Some women have expressed their concern, wondering if their parish priest had the ability to forgive them in the past. By this brief statement, I hope to bring some clarity and peace. Firstly, please rest assured if you have confessed the sin of abor on and the priest granted you forgiveness that he had the ability to do so granted to him by his bishop. Secondly, here in the Diocese of Reno, the bishop has always granted this same ability to his priests. While this is true for most of the bishops of the United States, it is not true throughout the world. So, basically, the Holy Father is doing for the whole world what the bishop of Reno has always done for the Diocese of Reno. He has made it easier than ever for those who wish to confess the sin of abor on to receive the forgiveness they seek without delay. This incense has the advantage of being nearly hypoallergenic; no perfumes or dyes or anything other than pure incense resin. It also has the advantage of being cheap! Usually, pilgrims can find pure frankincense for less than $6/lb. while incense bought in specialty stores or online can run over $40/lb. It is our hope that you had the opportunity to sign up to be an active volunteer in your parish, it is without a doubt that every parish needs a good volunteer base for liturgy and catechetical programs to be successful in spreading the Good News. Joke A boy asks his father, “Dad, are bugs good to eat?” “That’s disgusting, don’t talk about things like that over dinner,” the dad replies. After dinner the father asks, “Now, son, what did you want to ask me?” “Oh, nothing,” the boy says. “There was a bug in your soup, but now it’s gone.” CSA Chart Title DID YOU FIGURE OUT WHO THIS PRIEST IS? $90,000.00 $80,000.00 $70,000.00 $60,000.00 $50,000.00 $40,000.00 $30,000.00 $20,000.00 $10,000.00 $0.00 BISHOP PATRICK MANOGUE El Grupo de Oración de la Catedral, La Sagrada Familia, les invita todos los Miércoles a las 6:30 PM. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ENTRADA ¿A quién iremos, Señor, a quien iremos? Tienes palabras de vida. ¿A quién iremos, Señor, a quien iremos? Tienes palabras de amor. ¿A quién iremos, Señor, a quien iremos?
