BABY AND ME
TOBACCO
FREE
Public
Health
offers a free program to help
pregnant women stop smoking cigarettes. It is called
Baby and Me Tobacco Free
(BMTF). Eligible participants are pregnant women
who currently smoke or who
were a daily smoker at least
three months prior to
becoming pregnant. There
is no age or income eligibility requirements for enrolling
in the program. Pregnant
women are enrolled in the
BMTF program with Kim
Bemis at the Public health
office
(970-641-7911).
During the prenatal period,
each enrolled participant
receives four cessation counseling sessions, quit support
education
and
carbon
monoxide testing to verify
their (non)-smoking status.
After the birth of the baby,
the mother returns every
month for 12 months to continue CO monitoring and, if
smoke-free, she receives a
$25 voucher for diapers to
use at Wal-Mart.
Smoking
during
pregnancy is a well-documented cause of premature
and underweight births.
Non-smoking mothers also
reduce the damaging effect
of exposure to secondhand
smoke on their children.
Please call Kim if you are
interested in the program.

Finally, a better internet option for Gunnison
In the coming weeks, you’ll be hearing a lot about a new company called IC Connex, and while the
name is new, IC Connex is part of Internet Colorado, a Gunnison company that you’ve known for
more than 20 years. We have invested more than $1 million to build a new gigabit fiber-andwireless network with fully independent, redundant upstream connections to Denver and full
protection against power outages that can interrupt services.
We've designed our network to deliver an entirely new set of Internet and communications
services in Gunnison. For the first time, you’ll have a real choice among service providers,
improved access to the Internet, and an affordable mix of rate plans and services that are
designed to meet your needs, all delivered by a responsive, local company, who also happens to
be your friend and neighbor.
We can provide high-speed Internet service at guaranteed bandwidth speeds as high as 1 Gbps
per home or office on a fiber connection and 100 Mbps on the dedicated wireless connection. We
can also deliver 20+ Mbps to the mobile device of your choice throughout Gunnison. CityWide
Connex offers ultimate mobility through an always-available personal connection to the Internet
for your preferred mobile device with NO DATA CAPS and NO CONTRACTS. Our CityWide Connex
service delivers affordable, secure, encrypted wireless connections, meaning that you won’t wait
for pages to load, and you can send and receive files instantly and safely.
Our fiber optic connection and dedicated wireless connections are built right to your home or
business. Choose your guaranteed upload and download speeds across a highly reliable, private
connection, enabling you to conduct business, stream videos, watch television, enjoy enhanced
telephone services, or just stay connected to friends and family. There is no limit to the number of
devices you can connect to the network, and you won’t suffer service slow-downs, even during
peak usage periods. You can also enjoy the 24/7 instant access of our wireless CityWide Connex
service as part of your package.
Looking for a cost-effective alternative to your current landline telephone service? Consider our
Voice over IP (VoIP) phone service that offers a wide range of advanced telecommunications
options that simply aren’t available from the local telephone provider. Enjoy crisp, clear calls, a flat
rate for local and long-distance telephone services and the calling features you want without the
extra fees, while keeping your current telephone number. Or, if you want to keep your landline
number but don’t want a big bill for maintaining it, we can help you with that, too!
No matter how you want to connect, you can finally get more and pay less for your Internet
bandwidth needs. IC Connex delivers the services that other providers don’t even offer. Better
still, with IC Connex, you won’t get locked into any long-term contract loaded with data limits and
restrictions, hidden fees, penalties and charges.
Over the next six weeks, we’ll introduce you to our services in a series of short articles that explain
the benefits of each, and show you how you can combine our services to meet your unique
needs. Next week, we’ll introduce the CityWide Connex wireless service, and show you how you
can maintain a safe, affordable, mobile and secure connection to the Internet 24 hours a day! In
the mean time, if you would like more information about IC Connex and our services for
individuals, homes and business, please give us a call at 970-642-1100 or visit us on the Web at
http://www.icconnex.com/.

MANOS— ¿Cómo se trasmite la
gripe?
