We quite often have dogs that are overlooked because they may be considered by some to be less than perfect due to things such as heartworms, being a little older, injuries, or
being blind. We also get dogs from mass breeders/puppy mills that are extremely shy because they had so little human interaction or maybe someone doesn’t want to wait for a
dog that came in with puppies. All of the dogs on this page would fit one or more of these descriptions, but their adopters will tell you that they are very important parts of their
families and are wonderful dogs that would be a great addition to any family.
Hershey (2013) - Heartworm Positive.
Romeo (2014) - Adopted at the age
of 12.
Mac (2010) - High Heartworm Positive.
Jilly (2014) - Came in pregnant.
GiGi (2012) - Puppy mill dog.
Caleb (2014) - Extremely shy breeder
dog. He got returned because he was
so shy, but he’s a well adjusted dog
now.
Amanda (2013) - Adopted at the age of
11 and blind.
Wedge (2014) - Abused dog that had
his muzzle taped shut.
Lily (2010) -Breeder surrender who did
not know what a bone was and hid
behind the end table. She now wins
ribbons for agility.
Sasha (2009) - Had bad allergies. She is
now blind, but recently alerted her family to a situation that could have caused
a house fire.
Gwen (2012) - High heartworm positive,
underweight and injured.
Danielle (2014) - Vision problem in one
eye and a limp from an old untreated
injury.

Please consider donating to Poodle Rescue of Houston via the DONATE buttons on our website at www.PoodleRescueofHouston.org. Revenues
from adoptions do not cover expenses, especially when there are serious medical issues. Your donations make it possible to provide a second
chance for a rescued dog, living up to our motto--
Secondhand poodles make first-class pets!
Poodle Rescue of Houston, incorporated as a 501(c)(3) in 2006, has grown into
one of the largest Poodle rescue organizations in the U.S. PRH rescues distressed
dogs, mostly poodles, from a variety of sources. These include public animal
shelters and humane organizations across a six or seven state region. We get stray
surrenders as well as dogs from individuals or breeders who for various reasons
surrender their dogs to our care. Also, PRH has on occasion rescued large numbers
of dogs from court-ordered “puppy mill” seizures. In every case, Poodle Rescue of
Houston is asked to accept dogs into our care and we usually do accept them. It
is our outstanding reputation that makes other organizations, courts and private
individuals turn to us for our assistance.
PRH provides a safe, clean and attractive facility for dogs, with high quality
food, spaying / neutering, other needed medical care such as x-rays and surgery
for injuries, heartworm or parasite treatments and preventative medicines,
socialization and affection, and grooming. Once the dogs are rehabilitated, we
offer them for adoption to carefully screened families and individuals. Over the last
several years, we have placed about 600 dogs per year. We typically have about 45
dogs in our rescue program on any given day, and sometimes many more, so there
is sure to be one that is right for you. Come for a visit - we are open from 9 AM to
4:30 PM, seven days a week.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to rescue and rehabilitate distressed and homeless poodles
and poodle mixes. Our goal is to place every dog in the right loving home.
Our facility offers expert veterinary care, safe shelter, clean food and water,
plus human affection.
