LMCH Management is prohibiting all outdoor burning, including campfires in fire pits and the use of charcoal briquettes. Self contained propane grills, propane fire pits, and pettet grills are not banned but must be monitored by a responsible person 18 years of age and older. The enforcement of this rule will be taken very seriously for the safety of everyone. The Hideaway Headlines are complete and will be printed and mailed this week. Headlines will contain details of the 4 candidates for the 3 open positions on the Board of Directors. The elections will be held at the Annual Membership meeting on Saturday, September 24th. We will be introducing the candidates at the next board meeting on August 20 and the candidates will available from 11am until 1pm on Sunday, September 4 at the Craft Fair. Stop by to get to know your candidates for Board of Directors. LMCH Management is aware of our parking issues in camp and are working on updating our policies. Please take a look at the “Know Before You Go” section for the current policies found in the Members and B&G Handbook. Rob Clift Camp Manager Lake Merwin Campers Hideaway campmanager@lmch.com Vehicles are allowed on designated roads and designated parking spots only. Motorcycles/bikes and ATV’s are not to be ridden in camp or driven to a member’s site. They may be parked at the Headquarters parking lot. Vehicles illegally parking in certain areas will be towed from camp at member’s expense. NO guest owned watercraft may be stored on LMCH common grounds without LMCH Management’s written permission. NO OVERNIGHT parking in the Waterfront parking lots unless specifically stated. All members renting watercraft slips may park their trailers at the member’s site or a designated LMCH parking area, while the watercraft is in the water. Any watercraft, trailer and/or vehicle restricting the flow of traffic, parking or enjoyment of other members will be cited, fined and/or towed at member’s expense. Members are allowed to park motor vehicles such as a car or pickup on their site for an extended period of time provided the following guidelines are adhered to: Vehicle must be properly registered and have a current license plate. Vehicle is parked entirely within the member’s site. Vehicle cannot be parked on the road, open space, or common parking areas. Vehicle must be kept presentable. The appearance of the vehicle should indicate that the vehicle is in use and not abandoned. Construction equipment (dump trucks, caterpillars, etc.) will not be stored or parked on LMCH property unless that equipment is currently in use for site improvement at the site it is parked. Once the site improvement is completed, the equipment must leave LMCH. Under no circumstances will the equipment be stored on LMCH property. Disabled vehicles must be removed from LMCH within 7 days of disablement. If the vehicle has not been removed after 7 days, it will be towed at the owner’s expense. Any Bylaw, policy, and regulation violation may be subject to a fine up to $500 Greetings, There is a Board of Directors meeting on Saturday with the regular session starting at 9:30am. I encourage you to attend if time permits. One of the benefits of attending is that you will hear updates about camp and the room is air conditioned. There will be time on the agenda for members to speak and offer suggestions or concerns. I want to thank Tim Gonzales and the Waterfront Committee for organizing the annual Poker Run last weekend. Tarrie and I were a checkpoint on the lake and by all accounts the event was well attended. We had fun meeting members and entertaining those that stopped by for a punch on their card. There is no doubt this is a signature event at LMCH. Kathy Evey, Activities Chair and the Committee did a great job with concessions for the street dance. As always, Mark Hinkle did a great job entertaining the crowd with music that got the crowd moving. I have received many positive comments about the entertainment that Mark provides the Hideaway. Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions. Steve Owen LMCH Board President Steve_owen@frontier.com 503 997-6139 Maintenance has been busy getting the camp ready for the Labor Day weekend. The holes for the anchor chain have been bored in the log booms which are scheduled to be put in the water and moored early next week. Installation will take place when boat traffic reduces. Water conservation is a must. The water table drops drastically this time of year and our water is dependent on the health of our wells. So please do your part by not wasting water. Take short showers, don’t wash your cars and boats, and please don’t water your landscaping as it will turn green again once the rain returns. Thank you for your cooperation. Sincerely, Darren J Tveidt Facilities Manager Lake Merwin Campers Hideaway Many members have had questions concerning the monthly statements, so I would like to take this opportunity to explain the current process. Each member currently has two accounts, one for annual dues and another for the open monthly charges. A statement is sent dated the first day of each month if there is a balance, credit or any activity the prior month. If you have a balance, credit or activity on both accounts you will receive two statements. The statements typically will be processed around the 5 th of the month so that we can get all the payments posted that are sent in the mail prior to the 1st. Member charges reflected on the statements, must be paid by the end of the month to avoid interest on the charges. For example, July charges shown on August 1 statement will need to be paid no later than August 31 to avoid interest. The dues statement is processed differently. April 1st every member gets a statement. If you pay in full, dues must be paid by May 31 st. If you establish a payment plan, the first payment should be made by May 1st and then by the first of each following month. A statement is sent out dated the first day or each month reflecting the activity during the prior month. Interest is charged on the first day of each month for the outstanding dues. We are currently working on combining these two accounts so that the processing is simplified and members will only receive one statement. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email us at Finance@lmch.com or contact the office. Lisa Joerin, 58 on 7 LMCH Finance Manager The ANNUAL MEETING is Sat, Sept 24, 2016 @ Noon @ Amboy Middle School We have 4 camp members that have filed for 3 available board positions. Those filing are Steve Owen, Rhonda McDowall, Debbie Hill, and Ken Malone. In this case, the 2 candidates receiving the most votes will fill the 3 year terms up for election, the candidate receiving the third most votes will fill the remaining two years of a former board member. Remember, if you can't attend the annual meeting on September 24th at noon, you can soon obtain an absentee ballot through the office. You also can give your Proxy to another member to cast a vote for you. This years’ September ballot will only contain the election of board members. There are no ballot issues this year to vote on. For the benefit of our MANY new members, the money issues if any, will come to the membership in March 2017. I would urge all members to mark your calendars for attendance in September if possible. The boards next regularly scheduled meeting is August 20th in the headquarters conference room, with an executive session starting at 8:30am and the regular meeting beginning at 9:30am. We'd love to see you there. LMCH is in need of volunteers on our Very Active committees! Finance committee could use some volunteers with finance experience. These are the members that watch over our finances so PLEASE, if you have experience please consider volunteering some time to your camp. Shuttle Bus this weekend Another hot weather weekend is in the forecast. Water levels continue roughly where they were last weekend. There are no issues using our boat ramp. Access in and out of the moorage and slips is clear. The annual Waterfront Poker Run last weekend was a great success. I received many comments on how much fun everyone had. Noteworthy were the checkpoint boat crews. These volunteer’s pictures come up in the dictionary when you look up the word FUN! And based on records I’ve been keeping through the years, we had the highest number of hands played ever! Here are this year’s results: 1st Place: Mia, Granddaughter of member Linda Burgess (33/10) Winning: $523 Poker hand: 55553 Saturday 11:00am -7:00pm Sunday 11:00am -6:00pm The bus Departs LMCH Property at the posted ending times. This year the Waterfront acquired three (3) new radios (and repaired three (3) others), lifesaving throw rings, fire extinguishers, and utility carts used by members to move items to and from parking areas to the beach or boats at the docks. I personally want to thank everyone who participated and joined in the fun this year. And of course my appreciation goes out to all of this year’s volunteers. Everyone’s support is greatly appreciated! Reminder: No dogs are allowed in the water at or on the swim beach (on the grassy area). There are several slips on the rental dock which have close proximity to the east end of the lease docks. Watercraft in slips 78 through 81 on the rental dock shall be limited to no longer than 20 feet, to provide as much clearance as possible between boats on both docks. Please keep this in mind when reserving a slip on the rental dock. We have 2 utility carts available on weekends to move your beach or boat items to and from the parking area. Word has gotten out that they are available and they are used nearly non-stop on weekends. After using them be sure to return them to a spot next the 2 benches at the ramp. Do you want to enjoy a free rental slip for next season? Raffle tickets for a free slip are available for $1 per ticket. One lucky winner’s ticket will be drawn on New Year’s Eve. Get yours at the office or from a waterfront committee member/volunteer. Be safe! Have fun out there! See you at the waterfront! Mother Nature cooperated and gave us unbelievable weather that packed-out the Waterfront and the dance. The dances are so well attended that having them at the beach is not feasible. With the help of LMCH Management and the Maintenance Staff, both the Activities concessions and the band were able to run full-blast. Concession’s takes some serious power with all those machines. Thank you Rob, Darren, Gene, Brain and Kim! You did it! Now let’s get down to brass tacks. Saturday was a day for the Waterfront to shine. And boy did they! The Poker Run had an all-time high participation. The Activities members held down two of the checkpoints – with Fireball Bay and Margaretville doing their part. Now if we could get a Hot Dog Island we’d have the food groups covered. The feedback from the members and their guests were outstanding. Way to go Waterfront Committee that’s what we’re talking about. We tried to sell Garrett’s KK5 pizza at the dance. It was a little bit of a challenge, but we’ll do better next time. Garrett has a different plan of attack on how to cook, transport and serve the next time. In conjunction with KK5 and the Office, Activities will be pre-selling tickets for the “Whole Hog Barbeque” which is a great BBQ Sandwich for Labor Day weekend (Sunday) to help support activities for the kids in camp.
