THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST MAY 29, 2016 1st Reading: Genesis 14:18-20 2nd Reading: 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 2016 CHARITABLE GRANTS Gospel: Luke 9:11b-17 Holy Apostles Healing Mass with When I came to Holy Apostles Parish, I was very impressed and heartened to hear that the parish had a Charitable Grant Committee that works on behalf of our parish to award grants to local not-forprofit agencies. It is important for our parish to have a generous spirit that extends beyond our boundaries. Therefore, I am pleased to inform you that we recently awarded the following grants: Operation Stand Down Rhode Island, Johnston, RI - $3,000. Whitmarsh House, Providence, RI - $1,500. Little Sisters of the Poor, Pawtucket, RI $2,500. Little Flower Home, Providence, RI $2,000. Breadlines, Inc., Riverside - $2,000. Rhode Island Center Assisting those in Need, Carolina, RI - $1,500. Saint Edwards Food & Wellness Center, Providence, RI - $2,500. I wish to thank Dr. Joe Pezza who once again chaired the committee whose members include: Joanne Colozzi, Lynne Craddock, Bud Craddock, Jeff Hardiman, Angelo Pezzullo and Mike St. Pierre. I also thank you for your generosity that allows our parish family to respond to these needs in the greater community. On a similar note, I think all would agree that Sister Anne Dundin gave a wonderful presentation last weekend on the missionary work of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary. You responded generously by contributing $2,763.10 to the special collection. Our contributions to the missions help to bring the message and comfort of Christ to distant parts of the world where there is great need. Let us continue to pray for Sr. Dundin and all the Church’s missionaries. Msgr. Theroux Saturday, June 18 at 11AM All are welcome, especially the frail, aged, those in poor health or preparing for major surgery and all seeking the Lord’s healing and protection. Refreshments will follow the Mass in the Community Life Center. As a parish community, let us always be mindful of the sick and the suffering in our midst and keep them in our prayers. Please call the parish office if you would like to receive the Anointing of the Sick at this Mass. Save the date: Holy Apostles Church Celebrating our 25th Anniversary on Sunday, July 24th 11:00AM Mass The parish office will be closed on Monday, May 30th in observance of the holiday and there will be no morning Mass.
