Tennessee Department of Agriculture forwarded $250,000 from its Agricultural Development Fund on August 24 as a result of the approval by the General Assembly of Governor Bredesen’s budget for fiscal year 2009-2010. This makes a total of $1,750,000 in grant-in-aid funds directly to the TN FFA Foundation over the past four years as recommended by the Governor and subsequently approved by the General Assembly. The same amounts have been given to the TN 4-H Foundation. Special thanks to our Sponsoring Committee, Foundation Board of Directors, TN Farm Bureau, UT Extension Service, Commissioner of Agriculture Ken Givens and the entire Legislature for making this happen. Mark McBride, Farm Bureau Insurance, served on the board from 7/6/84 – 7/22/09 and as chair, vice-chair and treasurer. The Finance Committee of the Board of Directors has agreed to invest these funds just as we have done in the past by transferring $50M on a monthly basis into the investment account with Raymond James until the $250M is fully invested.
