Transition in Catechists-In Turn Help Wanted!
Due to job transitions and other exciting opportunities,
three of our catechists have decided to discontinue as a
catechist in the new year. In turn, we will have catechist
vacancies in three grade levels: Grade 3, 4 & middle
school. If you or anyone you know would be a great asset
to our catechist team, PLEASE contact John in the Parish

All parents of children in grades K-3 are invited to attend

that result in stronger families and happy, healthy and holy
children. Come learn and discuss effective approaches
that result in disciplined, motivated and respectful
children.

Annual Appeal will be presented by Alice Heinzen, codirector of the Office of Marriage and Family Life. Any
further questions can be addressed to John Schmitt in the
Parish Office.
Bulletin Copying Volunteer Needed:
The inside pages of the bulletin are
copied in-house by a volunteer. We
are in need of another volunteer
who would be willing to run the Risograph copy machine
for a couple hours every other week. Copying is done on
Wednesdays and the hours are flexible. Experience not
necessary. If you feel you are interested and have more
questions or want to give it a try, contact Jen Switlick
at the Parish Office 715-849-3930 or email jennifers@
stanneswausau.org.
Help Wanted: Bulletin Editor
I have loved doing the weekly bulletin for
St. Anne Parish for three years now. It has
been a marvelous way to become involved
in nearly every aspect of Parish life, with a
time commitment of only 6-8 hours a week (on Mondays
and Tuesdays).
I started a full-time job this week, and I think it is a
good time to hand over the reins to someone else with
experience in document design. If you would like to learn
more about this stipended position, please email me at
cherylm@stanneswausau.org at your earliest convenience.
Thank you, Cheryl Mathis
Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers Needed. Do you have a
special devotion to Jesus in the Eucharist? We would like to
train more Eucharistic Ministers. You will not be scheduled
to serve. After you are trained, just sign in by the sacristy
when you arrive for Mass! If you are interested in training
for this role, please contact Kristine Koppela in the parish
office or email kristinek@stanneswausau.org.
Do You Have a Ready Smile? We need more greeters!
To make sure that each of our entrances has a smiling
representative of the parish family, we’d like to add more
greeters to our liturgical volunteer rolls. If you’d like to
learn more about this valuable ministry, please contact
Kristine Koppela in the parish office or email kristinek@
stanneswausau.org.

This extremely thoughtful donation to families in need

As we celebrate the feast of Epiphany, I would invite the
question: What would prompt us to stop everything in
our life and set off on a search? The amazing piece of
Epiphany is to think about some people who were willing
to put everything in their lives on hold to follow a star. They
didn’t know how long it would take to discover its truth.
They had no idea what they would encounter along the way,
whether it would be filled with safety or treachery. They
would have to rely on others to help them if their supplies
ran low, the star became difficult to see or follow, or they
simply needed to take a rest from the length of their
journey. Have we attempted anything close to this type of
journey?
The life of faith is the ability to search for God. Sometimes
that means we have to put aside everything else in our
lives in order to accomplish that search. In a simple way,
the church invites us to put aside enough time to attend
church every week in order to keep our search lively. Some
people choose to extend that time with God to a retreat in
which puts aside a week to pray, read and search for the
meaning of God within life. Some people feel called to a
vocation in which they volunteer time to work for the church
or a non-profit organization by which they find the God
who is present in the midst of the needs of the world. The
search is an opportunity to know God and how he is active
within our world. The search doesn’t happen unless we
choose to make it happen. As we celebrate Epiphany, take
a moment to consider the caliber of our personal search
for God. Are we as intent as the Magi? If we need to make
an adjustment, how might we improve our search?
Thank you to all who attended and helped as ministers for
our Christmas celebrations! Christmas is special within our
community because of those who attend and give of their
time to assist the needs of the parish. Consider joining
their efforts – are you willing to serve, read, distribute
communion, greet, or fill one of our ministry needs? Let
the coordinators know of your desire – your help is much
needed!
Thank you to the Hospitality Committee for the Donut Hole
Sunday this weekend! Enjoy this opportunity to talk with
fellow parish members and a morsel before moving on to
the rest of the day.
For anyone who is looking for an opportunity to attend
Mass during a midday time slot, Aspirus Wausau Hospital
offers a twelve noon Mass on Wednesdays. Priests from
our Wausau Deanery are scheduled. The Mass occurs
in the chapel on the first floor. During this month of
January, I am scheduled for one Mass. I will have Mass on
Wednesday, January 22 at noon.
The Diocesan Annual Appeal is a challenge this year. We
are approximately halfway to our goal. Please consider
giving to this important cause. We have received benefits
from this Appeal during this past year; without reaching our
goal, these opportunities would not have been possible.
As a reminder, the date for receiving a larger rebate is April
1. Would you help us achieve success by then? Please
consider a donation – Thank you!
Fr. Hennes will be taking a short vacation within the next
week. We have invited Fr. Schaefer to assist us with the
weekend of January 11-12. We are grateful for his help
as we begin a new journey due to the departure of the
Capuchins from St. Anthony Retreat Center.
May the blessings of God be showered upon you this week!

still available for our children ages 2-5. Children
are able to take a bag at the beginning of Mass,
look at the books and activities, drawing and
returning the bag at the end of Mass. We have
received some good feedback and some beautiful
drawings. For questions please contact Melanie
