Dear Lord,
As my children leave for school,
I pray that you will keep them in your care.
Send your Spirit to open their minds
to all that is true and beautiful and good.
Help them to see the gifts and talents
you have given them and to use them well.
Help them to grow in knowledge and wisdom.
Help them to be kind to others
and lead others to be kind to them.
Give their teachers patience and understanding
and help them teach what is just and true.
Send your angels to guide and guard my children
and to keep them from all harm.
Open their young hearts to your presence
and enfold them in your peace and protection.
Hold them in the palm of your hand
and bring them home safely at day's end.
Amen.

We will spend four weeks on a wonderful book by Jon Gordon, “The Carpenter: A Story about the
Greatest Success Strategies of All.” This small book sets out principles for building true success in
life based on imagining how Jesus as a carpenter might guide you. Think of it as creating an action
plan or blueprints for yourself on how to improve your life and how you integrate God into your life.
Learn to love deeper, server and care more. It’s not about the finished product, it’s about the process
– the way of discipleship.

“The Covenant Bible Study”
Thursday, September 18th. 10:30am
The Covenant Bible Study is a 24-week study, divided into three eight week parts: Creating, Living,
Trusting. Each part stands on its own so you can sign up for one module at a time. This experience
guides participants in a comprehensive, in-depth study of the Bible. Unlike the learning participants
may have experienced in other groups, this in-depth study of the whole Bible emphasizes the biblical
concept of covenant as a unifying pattern through all the books in the Old and New Testaments. It
underscores the unique relationship that God chooses to have with us as God’s people. This relationship is grounded in the faithfulness of God’s love and on our ongoing commitment to stay in love
with God while we share signs of that love with others.
On Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. beginning September 18th we will meet for eight weeks and
discover how God establishes the covenant to be in relationship with us (Creating). We will discuss
the story of our origins in Genesis, the Exodus narrative, the teachings of Moses, the Gospels of
Matthew and Mark, as well as other books from each Testament that focus on the foundation of
Christian faith.

The Daniel Plan is built with love as the motivation:
Experiencing God's unconditional love for you, learning to
love him back, learning to love whom God made you to be,
and learning to give and receive love from others in a
small group setting.
The Bible says, "Love never gives up, never loses faith, is
always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance"
(1 Corinthians 13:7 NLT).
It is love — not fear, not guilt, and not peer pressure — that
causes us to keep going when we feel like giving up.

Life is a Dance
by Eileen Bennett
One of the most important lessons I've learned is that life is a
dance.
Sometimes you lead and sometimes you follow. When you lead,
you do it gently, firmly and clearly, and when you follow, do so with
trust.
The amazing thing is that each one of us is involved in many dances
at any one time - and we are the leader in some and the follower in
others!
Some dances are slow and majestic and others are crazy and
frenetic and still others are somewhere in between.
Some last a lifetime - others are over almost as soon as they begin.
Most of the time we manage not to fall flat on our faces, which is
even more amazing and requires some pretty fancy footwork.
And sometimes we do trip up or our toes get squashed and we get
hurt - but the important thing is to keep on dancing - no matter what.
Just keep dancing!
Even if you can't hear the music or you just don't feel like it or you
have acquired two left feet, keep on dancing!
Reminds me of the words of a Garth Brooks song: 'our lives are
better left to chance. I could have missed the pain, but I'd have had
to miss the dance.'

Americans are taught that Christopher Columbus discovered the earth was round. However, did someone know that fact thousands of years before Columbus sailed?
It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth...
(Isaiah 40:22)
These verses which relate facts that man in all his wisdom only discovered many years later, lend credence that the scriptures are truly the inspired words of God. That is, the Bible contains facts which mankind only discovered thousands of years after they were written down in the scriptures. Men wrote the scriptures under the inspiration of God. Since men did not even scientifically discover these facts until hundreds or thousands of years later, these facts written down in the scriptures could not have come from the minds of men at the time they were written! Therefore, men had to have been inspired by God to write these facts since they did not know them as facts at the time. One of these is that the earth's shape is round. 11
