Kim Reynolds
WPDA Member, Interviewed by Kristin Hermann
WPDA member Kim Reynolds was a featured
rider for The Clinic by Susanne von Dietze in the
June 2015 Dressage Today magazine.
Apparently Suzanne had a small horse of her
own at one time that she mentions. Kim was
asked a few questions about her riding and the
history of her horse Bella Luna, a Morgan Halflinger cross.
Kim works at Nickers and Neighs
Therapeutic Riding Program located at 260
Mountain Trails Lane in Acme, Pa. She is the
Operations Manager. She and Luna have been
training dressage for four and half years and are
successfully riding First Level at Recognized
shows. Bella Luna’s mom was one of the first
horses at Nickers and Neighs program, and she
came two weeks pregnant with Bella Luna (Little
did they know). Kim met Bella Luna when she
started working there in 2010, Bella Luna or Luna
was three years old. At that time, Kim owned a
gelding, and he and Luna were pasture mates. Luna
was a bratty youngster and she had horrible ground
manners that required very clear
ground rules from her handler. She left for
training in the fall of 2011, and while she was
gone Kim lost her gelding to colic. Kim had been
taking lessons with Lauren Schneider (former
WPDA Board member), and losing him left her
without a horse to ride.
When Luna returned from training, Kim began
riding her in her lessons. That was in
October, and she officially bought her in
December from Nickers and Neighs for one
dollar! Luna is Kim’s first dressage horse.
She competed on the AQHA circuit years
ago, but only began taking dressage lessons
in 2011. When Kim was asked about her write
up in Dressage Today she said, "I love
reading Suzanne von Dietz's column every
month, and I thought it would be educational
to have her feedback on my riding. I think her
evaluation of Luna and I was very accurate,
and I would give it a 10."
