Welcome to the Kings Point eatre! We are proud to announce this summer’s incredible shows which include comedy, singing and more. We invite all of you to our 2014 summer/fall shows at the Kings Point eatre! APRIL SHOWS OPUS 5 - Sounds Of The Season Friday, April 4th 8:00pm $12 Residents • $17 Non-Residents “Opus 5” is the Frankie Valli and Four Seasons tribute act that will bring you back to those “Sounds of the Seasons” you’ve been waiting to hear since “Sherry” topped the charts over 50 years ago. William Cintron, lead vocalist of Opus 5, has recaptured the Valli mystique with his effortless falsetto range that he brings to the big stage. Four accomplished musicians accompany William both instrumentally and with masterful harmonious sounds that were featured in the early days. Opus 5 does not claim they are number one or the best. “Opus 5 stands alone for being authentic, accurate and captivating….Jersey’s best.” The 2ND Avenue - Klezmarin Band Friday, April 11th 8:00pm $11 Residents • $14 Non-Residents Klezmer, literally meaning “instruments of music,” is a tradition among the Jews of Eastern Europe. The repertoire is upbeat Jewish, Hebrew and Yiddish music sometimes called Froehlich or “Happy Music,” which is why it is so popular at weddings. This band has played in the Catskill Mountains, New York City and throughout South Florida. Each musician creates beautiful music with multiple instruments. As a group, they are truly entertaining. Lets not forget our very own resident “Sunshine” who is part of the Kleziner Band. This is a must see show! The Sensational Sounds of Andre Michaels Friday, April 25th 8:00pm $10 Residents • $13 Non-Residents Andre Michaels is one of the most nostalgic and entertaining evenings to hit South Florida in years. You will delight in this unique multi-media musical presentation of the great American Songbook. Andre masterfully performs the works of Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Sammy Davis Jr., Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles and Lou Rawls. Watch these masters perform with Andre on the silver screen. He spellbinds his audience with performances of scenes from “The Phantom of the Opera” and the Broadway musical “Showboat.” This is definitely a “don’t miss show!” MAY SHOWS Jimmy Cavallo Friday, May 9th 8:00pm $11 Residents • $14 Non-Residents Jimmy Cavallo is an American musician best known for performing with his band in the 1956 movie, “Rock, Rock, Rock” by pioneering music DJ Alan Freed. Jimmy and the Houserockers was the first allwhite band to play at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem. Before Elvis Presley’s sunrise and before Bill Haley soared like a Comet, Jimmy Cavallo rocked the house nightly along the East Coast. Treading territory unexplored by white musicians of his era, the young tenor saxman plunged headfirst into R&B. Jimmy is still Rockin’! This is a show you do not want to miss! MAY SHOWS Broadway & Beyond Friday, May 23rd 8:00pm $10 Residents • $13 Non-Residents Broadway & Beyond is a musical variety show based in Miami, Florida. It is made up of three seasoned performers; Georgene Barger, Louise Yates and Mary Kaye. Costumes, choreography and interaction with the audience are all part of the show. Their talents are used to their fullest and an ambiance of excitement is created that draws the audience in and makes them want more. You will hear and see everyone’s favorite Broadway tunes from great shows like “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Evita”, “Chicago,” “Gypsy” and many more. Come and enjoy this wonderful musical evening! JUNE SHOWS Avery Sommers Friday, June 6th 8:00pm $10 Residents • $13 Non-Residents Avery Sommers is an actress and producer; known for “Hiding Victoria”, “Immigration Tango” and “Letters to God”. She co-starred in “Lost Everything” which was shot in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. She also filmed “Mysterious” which starred James Brolin and Antonio Sabato Jr. Sommers has performed her cabaret act at The Colony Hotel’s Royal Room in Palm Beach. Her repertoire includes everything from Broadway show tunes to selections from the Great American Songbook. You must see this show. She does a wonderful mix of Broadway show tunes and standards with a terrific blues and jazz feel. JUNE SHOWS Back Home Again - A Tribute to John Denver Friday, June 20th 8:00pm $11 Residents • $14 Non-Residents This intimate, concert-style performance is a musical journey into the many facets of John Denver’s songwriting from the foot-stomping fun of “Thank God, I’m a Country Boy,” to the tenderness of “Annie’s Song,” to the sweeping grandeur of “Rocky Mountain High,” the song that defined his life and his passion for preserving the environment. The show also includes a few Denver-inspired original songs including “Sailor,” which was selected as the official song for the Navy Memorial Dedication in Washington, D.C. Mel Williams and Jessie Campo Sunday, June 29th 8:00pm $10 Residents • $13 Non-Residents Mel Williams, an International Entertainer, has performed all over the world. From a tour in the most popular destination in Spain to the Canary Islands and to shows in Nashville, and of course including all of the elegant and happening spots in South Florida. Jessie Campo is an extraordinary bilingual Singer/Songwriter who sings and plays guitar. Her beautiful voice, fabulous attire, high-energy performance and radiant personality make her an incredible entertainer who captures all audiences. JULY SHOWS Andy and Susan Davis Friday, July 11th 8:00pm $9 Residents • $12 Non-Residents Susan Davis began her career as lead singer and choreographer of the award winning group, Sunshine Express. She traveled Europe, visited our troops as a member of the USO and performed along with such greats as Minnie Pearl, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Ben Vereen and David Foster. As a solo artist, Susan has created her own unique style of cabaret performance by embracing each character and telling a story with emotion and impeccable vocal acuity. Andy Davis began his career on the boards of the Broadway Theater. In Musicals, he has portrayed such characters as Tevye, Phantom of the Opera, and Sweeny Todd. Andy has also performed various Shakespeare and classical theater roles. The two are working together combining forces to bring you on a magical journey of song. Manhattan Harmony Show Band Friday, July 25th 8:00pm $10 Residents • $13 Non-Residents “Manhattan Harmony Show Band” is proof that classic sounds live on and great songs never die. They apply their unique sound and style to many of the classic songs we love and enjoy. Manhattan Harmony has a fabulous reputation and they know how to make a great evening’s entertainment. They come alive the moment they bounce on stage as each member, with their vast experience and talent comes shining through loud and clear! AUGUST SHOWS Cavendish Presents “Broadway Cabaret” Sunday, August 3rd 2:30pm $10 Residents • $13 Non-Residents “Broadway Cabaret” starring Mark Sanders, a soaring tenor voice and dynamic leading man, has appeared in musical theater productions and concerts around the world. His credits include a national tour of Fiddler on the Roof with Theodore Bikel. This dynamic and charismatic leading man will charm and inspire you with music from his new CD “Mark Sanders – This Moment”. He teams with soprano Cheryl Cavendish and wonderful pianist Darlene Jones in this most entertaining and glamorous show featuring the music of Leonard Bernstein, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Les Miserables, Richard Rodgers, Stephen Sondheim, Gershwin and more! Come and enjoy this wonderful musical afternoon! The Doo-Wop Mob Friday, August 8th 8:00pm $12 Residents • $15 Non-Residents From the Concert Stage of New York and New Jersey, welcome the Doo-Wop Mob who are taking over the turf singing Rock N’ Roll Oldies and Doo-Wop hit songs from the Bronx, Brooklyn and Philadelphia. Go back to the best years of your life. Remember the 50’s and 60’s – the songs you grew up with, and the songs on the radio you sang and danced to. Put a smile on your face and enjoy a great night of fabulous singing, fun and memories. We promise you an evening that you will not forget. AUGUST SHOWS Natalie Jackson - Motown Show Friday, August 22nd 8:00pm $10 Residents • $13 Non-Residents Natalie Jackson is originally from northern New Jersey. With a classical background in piano, she began honing her vocal style under the late Dr. Aaron Bell, bassist and arranger, to Duke Ellington and her orchestra as well as many other prominent jazz figures. She includes among her influences Marilyn McCoo and Dionne Warwick. Her interpretations are described as soulful and inspiring. Natalie sings in a style that is both sophisticated and warm and believes that “every song is a story to be told.” SEPTEMBER SHOWS Flamenco Express Friday, September 5th 8:00pm $10 Residents • $13 Non-Residents Jessica Pacheco and Jose Junco have worked together for over 15 years touring all around the world with prestigious classical, modern and traditional flamenco dance companies. Flamenco Express began performing as headliners on luxurious cruise lines. They went on to perform all over the world and their recent adventure was in Quito, Ecuador where they performed at the opening and closing ceremony of “La Feria De Quito”. Throughout their journeys, they found themselves incorporating different concepts, rhythms and moves into their traditional Flamenco art form. Flamenco Express combines its Classical, Modern, Arabic rhythms into one high-energy show. Familiar music, outstanding costume changes and incredibly passionate graceful dance distinguishes Flamenco Express from the rest. “Don’t let them pass you by!” SEPTEMBER SHOWS The Lu White Show Band Friday, September 19th 8:00pm $10 Residents • $13 Non-Residents The Lu White Show Band, South Florida’s premier “feel good” band, features the silky smooth voice of Lu White. She sings lead in the band and is blessed to be working with some of the most talented musicians in South Florida. They feature Tropical Rock/Beach Music with a touch of early Rock’n Roll island and folk. Standing on the shoulders of her former band, the focus is on four part harmonies and superb musicianship. In addition to the band, she does a solo show. Cavendish Presents “That’s Entertainment” Sunday, September 28th 2:30pm $10 Residents • $13 Non-Residents The Gold Coast Singers present a wonderful afternoon of music from Broadway and Hollywood with beautiful voices and dazzling costumes featuring more than 50 years of Academy Award winning Musicals, MGM Movie Classics and Contemporary Hits from 42nd Street…to Chicago…to Sunset Boulevard. The dynamic cast features lovely sopranos Cheryl Cavendish and Terri Oster, handsome tenor Bill Wynn and marvelous baritone Bill Stafford with outstanding pianist Darlene Jones and percussionist Doug Friend. Come and enjoy an afternoon of musical memories. OCTOBER SHOWS The Sensations Motown Show Friday, October 10th 8:00pm $10 Residents • $13 Non-Residents The Sensations are a four-man group, which will have you believing that the Temptations, The Four Tops and other Motown legends are in the house. The performance features fantastic vocals and terrific dance routines. The group also covers groups like The Drifters, The Coasters, The Miracles and The Platters – just to name a few. They did a version of Smokey Robinson’s “Ooo Baby Baby” that was so dead on, that many in the crowd thought that the original recording was being played. This is a must see show! Lou Villano Friday, October 24th 8:00pm $11 Residents • $14 Non-Residents As a review critic wrote, “What a talented showman extraordinaire.” With a powerful voice and magnetic stage presence, Lou Villano has received praise from the great songstress Julie Budd as saying, “You are a fabulous singer – major talent.” Every time you see Lou perform you can expect to hear & see a special type of a show, whether it be his tribute to Sammy Davis, Jr., Tom Jones, Bobby Darin, or musical suite of Michel Legrand hits. Lou charms his way into his audience’s hearts by creating a nightclub atmosphere with his personality, hot arrangements and themed shows.
