Stewardship
A Way of Life
This Week’s Readings
Am I waiting for the “right” time to become a good
steward? Do I plan to share my time and talents “later?”
Today’s Gospel warns those who are procrastinating
about stewardship to be prepared— “at an hour you do
not expect, the Son of Man will come.”
Living Stewardship
We are grateful this week for all stewards in our parish
who recognize that giving and sharing are not a burden,
but rather an opportunity to experience—every day—
the deep satisfaction that can only be found by serving
in the name of Jesus.

Communion for the
Gluten Intolerant
Because of the vacation schedules of Extraordinary
Ministers of Holy Communion, Communion under both
species is suspended during the summer months. For
those who have gluten intolerance, a chalice with the
Precious Blood will be ministered at the 5:00 p.m. Mass
on Saturday evening. This will go through the summer.
Please also know that low gluten hosts are also available
at all Masses. One should stop in the sacristy before
Mass to arrange for this type of host to be consecrated.

Attention Students
Attending Brother Fox
Latin School
Do you have a child who attends the Brother Fox
Latin School? If so, you need to register with the
Religious Education Office in order that we have all
the information for your child in our system. If your
child already attended St. Agnes Religious Education
in the past you simply need to call or e-mail to let us
know he or she is attending Brother Fox. If your child
transferred to Brother Fox from St. Agnes School, you
need to come in and fill out a form and bring a copy of
your child’s baptism certificate. There is no charge for
Brother Fox students since they are not attending
religious education classes. We need all this
information in our files, especially when the child
enters 7th and 8th grade and is preparing for
Confirmation.

If…
1. You are at least 70 1/2 years old on the date
you make your gift
2. Your IRA is a traditional or Roth
3. You don’t exceed your personal maximum of
$100,000 per year in qualified charitable
distributions
You will not have to report your
distribution as income. It will be free of
federal and New York State income tax,
and it will count toward your required
minimum distribution (RMD).
The best way for you to start is with your IRA
custodian. Tell them you want to make a
“qualified charitable distribution”.
In most
cases you will only have to fill out a simple
form.
VERY IMPORTANT!! Your gift must go
directly from your IRA to the Parish. If
you receive the money first then you’ll be
taxed on it like any other distribution.
Example: Mrs. Connors, age 76, has
$125,000 in a traditional IRA and would like to
contribute $5,000 to her Parish in 2016.
Upon hearing of the Charitable IRA Rollover
opportunity, she directs the custodian of her
IRA to transfer this amount not later than
December 31, 2016 directly to the Parish as a
2016 gift. She will not be subject to income
tax on her $5,000 qualified charitable
distribution.

Prayer for our Troops
Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families

And give us peace.

Our Lord and Savior. Amen
