Stewardship
A Way of Life
This Week’s Readings
In the Gospel today, Jesus warns us not to give in hopes
of repayment, but to give open-handedly to the poor and
needy. That sort of giving mirrors the bountiful giving
of God, and Jesus assures us it is blessed indeed!
First Friday
September 2, 2016
There will be Exposition of the Blessed
Sacrament following the 9:00 a.m. Mass,
until 3:00 p.m., in the Chapel of the Holy
Cross located in the Parish Ministry Building.
Nocturnal Adoration
Friday, September 2, 2016
Living Stewardship
St. Agnes Nocturnal Adoration Society will meet in the
Holy Cross Chapel from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Come
and pray before the Blessed Sacrament.
We are grateful this week for all stewards in our parish
who give real thought to how God has blessed them and
then strive to give in proportion to what they have
received.

Annual School
Supply
Collection
This Weekend
Please help members of our community for whom
buying school supplies can be a terrible monetary
burden. On Saturday and Sunday, August 27th

Outreach Center. There will be boxes at the doors
of the Cathedral for your donations. During the
week, items may be dropped off directly to the
Outreach Office 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday
through Friday. Please help by donating as many
items as you can from the list of suggestions below.
As a family, while shopping for your own school
supplies you might also encourage your children to
put together a backpack of supplies to be donated.
Our parish has been so generous during past
collections that we anticipate that once again you
help will make this September much better for
needy families within our community. Please call
Sister Kathleen in Parish Outreach at 678-1854
with any questions.

Religious Education
Registration
Anyone with a child entering 1st grade in
September should have registered for our
Level 1 Religious Education class. If not please do so
as soon as possible in the Religious Education Office
on the first floor of the Ministry Building. Please bring
a copy of your child’s baptism certificate and your
checkbook. Those children who have been enrolled in
religious education in a different parish must obtain a
transfer letter from the previous parish. Those already
in our program received an update form in early July.
The Religious Education office is open on Mondays
from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. and Tuesday through Friday
from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information
please call our office at (516) 678-2306 or e-mail

Catechists Needed
We need your help for the 2016-2017 Religious
Education year. We especially need catechists
in Levels 6, 7 & 8. Level 6 meets weekly on Tuesdays
at 5:45 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and Levels 7 and
8 meet approximately every other week on
Mondays or Tuesdays at 7:00-8:30 p.m. Training is
provided. Catechists must fill out a volunteer
form and participate in a VIRTUS workshop on
protecting children against abuse. Please call
our
office
at
(516) 678-2306
or e-mail
religioused@stagnescathedral.org. Our children need
you to help them learn our faith!
Latin School Students
Parents: do you have a child who attends the Brother
Fox Latin School? If so, you need to register with the
Religious Education Office in order that we have all
the information for your child in our system. If your
child already attended St. Agnes Religious Education
in the past you simply need to call or e-mail to let us
know he or she is attending Brother Fox. If your child
transferred to Brother Fox from St. Agnes School, you
need to come in and fill out a form and bring a copy
of your child’s baptism certificate. There is no charge
for Brother Fox students since they are not attending
religious
education classes.
We
need all
this information in our files, especially when the child
enters 7th and 8th grade and is preparing for
Confirmation.
