The Mass will serve as part of the Columbus Day Weekend Activities. We will invite local Italian-American organizations and our local priests. The Mass will be followed by espresso and pastry. We really would love to see a big crowd. Please come whether you speak Italian or not. There will be booklets available so that you can follow the Mass in English. Please mark the date and plan to be with us!! Page Two From the Pastor’s Desk Priest Visits to the Hospital and to the Homebound I needed clothes, and you gave me something to wear. I was sick, and you took care of me. I was in prison, and you visited me.' (Matthew 25:36). I am truly gratified at the huge number of people who volunteer to work on our Food Pantry by giving their time and their donations to help those who need food. Additionally, I am very proud of our Knights of Columbus who expend great energy and time to help the poor among us. In fact, as you may already know, the Knights will be seeking your donations to help the Wheelchair Global Mission to buy wheelchairs for those who cannot afford them. In the same way, we have many lay chaplain volunteers who visit the sick at Hudson Valley Hospital. A number of Extraordinary Ministers bring them and the homebound Holy Communion. I wholeheartedly support all these wonderful ministries and we, as your priests, must also do our part. Should you or a family member be in the hospital or homebound and would like a visit from your parish priest, please call us at the Rectory Office. Even though we have a wonderful chaplain in the person of Fr. Vernon, sometimes you want to see your parish priest and we are ready to visit. Should you reach our voicemail system, please leave a message and we will return your call quickly. As priests and parishioners we continue to respond with greater compassion and fulfill the call of Jesus to care for our fellow brothers and sisters in need. God Bless all you do. Fr. John DeBellis NEW ALTAR SERVERS Attention boys and girls, 4th grade and up, spread the Light of Christ by becoming an altar server. Training will be held in the church on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 PM commencing Tuesday- Sept. 24th. If you have any questions, please contact Larry @ 914-736-1342 ----otherwise--- see you on the 24th! The sick are comforted just knowing that we pray for them. Please remember these members of our Parish Family, who are ill, in your prayers: Rudy Kropf, Nora Gioia, Christopher Lange, Frank Garzione and Josephine Domanski. Please also remember the deceased members of our Parish Family in your prayers. One way to pray throughout the day St. Paul tells us to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). One way to do this is to repeat the “Jesus Prayer” many times throughout the day. “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.” - Growing in Faith The Knights of Columbus and the Global Wheelchair Mission, October 5th and 6th On the weekend of October 5th and 6th, the Knights of Columbus will be collecting donations to raise money for the Global Wheelchair Mission. The Global Wheelchair Mission purchases wheelchairs in bulk and delivers them by sea containers to people around the world. For every donation of $150 received by the Global Wheelchair Mission, it can deliver a brand new wheelchair to a needy person worldwide. The average cost of a wheelchair would otherwise be $500 in a medical supply store. Please join in supporting the Global Wheelchair Mission by making your contribution to the Knights after all the Masses on that weekend. ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS Couples celebrating their 25th or 50th Wedding Anniversary this year are invited to renew their vows on Saturday, October 26th at the 5pm Mass. Please call the Parish Office to let us know if you will be participating in the celebration. Thank you and congratulations!
