This will help us to meet our ordinary expenses. Our capital campaign has enabled us to continue making extraordinary major repairs over and above ordinary expenses. See the later part of the bulletin for more about our continuing capital needs. The parishes of our deanery met last week. The purpose of the meeting was to begin a discussion of how our parishes can cooperate in doing the work of the Lord. I thank those who attended from our parish. I thought a number of valuable ideas surfaced. We will keep you informed of future developments. Meeting with the North side district police commanders. I also attended a meeting with a number of area police commanders and some local religious leaders. Pat Kenny also represented our parish. The meeting was very informative. Thank you! Our parish relies on many people to continue the work of Jesus. I am grateful to the staff for their talent and dedication. I give thanks for the many volunteers who help our parish in so many different ways. There are far fewer priests than when I was ordained yet the work of God continues. The church has had the blessing of the many people who have stepped forward to embrace their baptismal call and serve the church. Our repairs go on and our financial needs continue. The contract for the carport project should be ready soon. It looks like will be approximately $34,000. Please do not park in the carport area. We need your financial support by making (if possible) new pledges to our capital campaign. Please read the bulletin for other announcements. Let us pray! I ask you to pray for our parishioners who face serious health problems and other great challenges. Please pray for all who serve our parish. I also ask you to pray for all the parishes of our archdiocese and for our leaders in this time of challenge. God Bless You. Your pastor, Fr. The Communion of the Saints And what we celebrate during these days Comunión de los Santos Y que celebramos estos días The Communion of the Saints is the spiritual solidarity that binds the faithful on earth, the souls in purgatory, and the saints in Heaven, forming Christ’s mystical body. The term Saints refers to all the believers, whatever their personal sanctity. Saints are called holy because they are consecrated to God. Traditionally, we make the distinction between the Pilgrim Church, the Souls in Purgatory, and the Triumphant Church. We are the Pilgrim Church. It’s the community of believers here in earth. The Souls in Purgatory are those who have not yet fully entered into heaven. We pray especially for them in the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed on the 2nd of November (or All Souls Day). The Church Triumphant is all the people who have entered fully into heaven. We remember them especially on The Solemnity of All Saints on November 1. We are all members of the Church and are united in communion. The saints, more intimately united with Christ, intercede for us. We are all called to be saints, we are all called (and hope) to be in the presence of the Lord. Many saints have their own particular feast day. The Church remembers all the people in heaven, having formally given the title of “saint” or nor, in the Feast of All Saints. We pray for our brothers and sisters that sleep in the peace of Christ (the Church in purgatory), through masses and prayers, with the hope to intercede for them in their journey to heaven. And Halloween? The word Halloween has its origin in “All hallow’s eve”, or “All Saint’s Eve”. The origin of this feast can be connected to the Christianization of the Celtic Harvest festival and other pagan customs. Y Halloween?
