Ronald McDonald House of Indiana
Keeping families
together when
they need each
other the most.
Dear Friends,
A Message from our President of the Board and Executive Director
Children heal better and faster when surrounded by their family. Parents know that intuitively, and doctors and nurses tell us that too.
So when a child is seriously ill and needs to be by their medical team for days, weeks, even months at a time, finding a way to keep
Mom, Dad and siblings close by is the most important thing in the world.
Last year, the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana provided a home-away-from-home for 1,412 families. For some of these families,
this meant suddenly learning of their child’s devastating diagnosis; for others, it was a repeat trip to a place that has unfortunately
become all too familiar. Regardless of their circumstances, families found respite and a community of support just moments from the
hospital and most importantly, just moments for their child.
We are extremely grateful for our generous donors and supporters
who help us provide a safe, comfortable home for families to rest,
recharge and find strength to help their child get better. When
enough of us come together, we can fight for families like no other
charity. We can make sure that while a child gets the necessary
care, the family does too, with a warm bed, warm meals, and little
to worry about beyond keeping their child strong.
For all you do to support our House, we thank you!
Chris Lake, President of the Board
Beth Johnson, Executive Director
The House That Love Built
Serving families since 1982, the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana provides
a safe haven and home-away-from-home for parents and siblings of
seriously ill or injured children. Since we opened our doors, more than
35,000 families from every Indiana county, as well as many other states and
countries have stayed at the House.
With our two locations on the IUPUI campus and inside Riley Hospital for
Children at IU Health, we help support the entire family and ensure that they
have access to the best medical care.

Volunteers are the Heart of Our House
Every night, 58 tired and weary families call the Ronald
McDonald House of Indiana home while their critically ill or
injured children receive lifesaving treatment at local hospitals.
The warm hearts and helping hands of our volunteers make
the Ronald McDonald House a loving and comforting homeaway-from-home that helps strengthen families during a time
when they need each other the most.

Employees from Borshoff spend a day at our House at
Riley preparing meals for guests, cleaning rooms and
sharing time with families.
2011 Volunteer Highlights
While deployed, Chris and his Air Force buddies collected pop tabs
at their recreation center. At the same time, his mom was collecting
pop tabs in Denver. Back home, Chris and his daughter, Carly,
stopped by our House at Riley to drop off the thousands of tabs
they collected.

Ways You Can Help
The Ronald McDonald House of Indiana is financially
supported primarily through tax-deductible contributions
from individuals, corporations and foundations. We offer
flexible giving options that allow you to make a gift now or
in the future. Your gifts help maintain the House and provide
a safe, caring place for our families.
Here are 10 ways you can help Ronald McDonald House
continue to support families with critically ill or injured children:
Friends Christiana and Faith were glad to be spending time together
during an ice cream social at the House.
The Young Professional
Board members participate
in a number of fundraising
and social activities that
benefit RMHI. The group had
a great time at the first
annual Happy Hour Trivia
Bowl event. (Above)

Community fundraisers are a
great way to help raise funds
for the Ronald McDonald House
and engage the community in
helping our families. The first
annual Kicks for Kids soccer
tournament was a huge success,
raising $20,000 for the House. More than 600 spectators came
to watch 41 teams compete in the day-long event the day after
Thanksgiving at Off the Wall Sports in Carmel, IN.
Every night 58 families call

CORNERSTONE SOCIETY
The Cornerstone Society was formed to recognize individuals who have included the
Ronald McDonald House of Indiana, Inc. in their estate plans or a planned gift (such as a
gift of life insurance, charitable gift annuity, etc.). Through generous arrangements that
name the Ronald McDonald House a beneficiary of a planned gift or estate plan,
Cornerstone Society members create ways to achieve their own financial goals while
providing the Ronald McDonald House with much-needed support for the future.
