2011 Annual Report - Ronald McDonald House of Indiana
Annual Report 2011 Ronald McDonald House of Indiana Keeping families together when they need each other the most. Dear Friends, A Message from our President of the Board and Executive Director Children heal better and faster when surrounded by their family. Parents know that intuitively, and doctors and nurses tell us that too. So when a child is seriously ill and needs to be by their medical team for days, weeks, even months at a time, finding a way to keep Mom, Dad and siblings close by is the most important thing in the world. Last year, the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana provided a home-away-from-home for 1,412 families. For some of these families, this meant suddenly learning of their child’s devastating diagnosis; for others, it was a repeat trip to a place that has unfortunately become all too familiar. Regardless of their circumstances, families found respite and a community of support just moments from the hospital and most importantly, just moments for their child. We are extremely grateful for our generous donors and supporters who help us provide a safe, comfortable home for families to rest, recharge and find strength to help their child get better. When enough of us come together, we can fight for families like no other charity. We can make sure that while a child gets the necessary care, the family does too, with a warm bed, warm meals, and little to worry about beyond keeping their child strong. For all you do to support our House, we thank you! Chris Lake, President of the Board Beth Johnson, Executive Director The House That Love Built Serving families since 1982, the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana provides a safe haven and home-away-from-home for parents and siblings of seriously ill or injured children. Since we opened our doors, more than 35,000 families from every Indiana county, as well as many other states and countries have stayed at the House. With our two locations on the IUPUI campus and inside Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health, we help support the entire family and ensure that they have access to the best medical care.
