May All Who Enter Share the Love of Our Community
14th Sunday in Ordinary Time
July 5, 2015
My Dear St. Walter Family,
Happy Independence Weekend!
I became a US citizen in the summer of 2000, when
I was just ordained. After being a legal immigrant
for 8 years, I happily had chosen to be an
American.
This great land of freedom has given me a fresh
start in life and an opportunity to be the best of who
I am and what I do. I was just 19 years old when
we arrived here in Chicago in 1992 and in the span
of 8 years, America had given me an education (a
Bachelor’s degree and Master’s), a job on my 2nd
day of arrival (as a clerk in the Chicago loop on
Michigan avenue and Washington), and great
opportunities to create communities and serve.
I chose that picture above of having Hot Chocolate
with extra, extra whipped cream because for me,
this is what I’ve experienced of America. She
continues to fulfill my dreams and create in me a
heart full of gratitude. America makes me smile
with such delight! (Praise God for Hot Chocolate
with lots of Whipped Cream!!!)
So today, I want to thank you St. Walter Family for
the Top 12 Things I’m Grateful about you. Starting
next weekend, I want to write about one of them
and I hope by the end of the series, we will all know
how deeply blessed we are by our Father God and
also unpack for us what that age old saying we
have means: May all who Enter, Share the Love of
Our Community.
I love you!
May your dreams come true!
Father Mario Quejadas, Pastor

On Care for Our
Common Home
(Laudato Si') is the new
appeal from Pope Francis
addressed to "every person
living on this planet" for an
inclusive dialogue about how
we are shaping the future of
our planet. Pope Francis calls the Church and
the world to acknowledge the urgency of our
environmental challenges and to join him in
embarking on a new path. This encyclical is
written with both hope and resolve, looking to
our common future with candor and humility.

Year for Consecrated Life
Did You Know?
St. Procopius Abbey had it’s beginnings in the city of
Chicago. The monks first settled in what was then
the largest Czech parish in the nation, St. Procopius
in the Pilsen neighborhood. In 1896, land was
purchased in rural Lisle so that the monks could
grow their schools, which made the move in 1901.
The abbey officially transferred its address to Lisle
in 1914.
The next Baptismal Class will be Tuesday, July 7 at 7PM.

Stewardship &
News
THANK YOU NANCY KAVADAS!
As of June 30, Nancy Kavadas retired after 27
years of faithful service to Saint Walter Parish and
School. There was never a task too big for Nancy
to complete as she always did it with a smile. This
is not a goodbye though, as we will continue to
see Nancy around at Mass on Sunday. Enjoy
retirement, Nancy!
NEW PARISH BOOKKEEPER
Maria Pusateri who has served as the part-time
Assistant to the Bookkeeper and as Bulletin Editor
will now become the part-time Parish Bookkeeper
and remain as our Bulletin Editor. Maria has
proven herself to be very competent over the past
several months assisting Nancy. The transition
will be very smooth! Thank you, Maria for
accepting this new challenge!
In short, we say thank you and congratulations!
May God continue to bless you in all that you do,
Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary
Time
(July 4/5, 2015)
Today’s Scripture passages from the
prophet Ezekiel and St. Mark’s Gospel
portray Ezekiel and Jesus as prophets
rejected by their own people. St. Paul
tells the Corinthians, and us, that when
he is powerless, he is strong through
his trust in the Lord. Today, the
Catholic Church has many prophetic
voices proclaiming Her teachings on
the sanctity of life, the sanctity and
dignity of marriage, and other
important moral issues. Through
Revelation and Tradition, Jesus
Himself inspires these Church
teachings. As Christ’s faithful disciples,
let us strive to listen to modern-day
prophets to follow the Church’s moral
teachings and counteract society’s
secular belief in moral relativism.

Father of goodness and love, hear our prayers for the sick
members of our community and for all who are in need. Amid
mental and physical suffering may they find consolation in your
healing presence. Show your mercy as you close wounds, cure
illness, make broken bodies whole and free downcast spirits. May
these special people find lasting health and deliverance, and so
join us in thanking you for all your gifts. We ask this through the
Lord Jesus who healed those who believed. Amen.

Almighty God
We stand before you in supplication,
Asking Your Divine mercy
and protection on our loved ones
in all branches of the service.
Give them courage and strength
Both spiritual and physical,
And hasten their safe journey,
Back to their homes and families.

Let their journey to Your everlasting arms
Be swift and painless,
Where they may stand in honor
and glory, Praising You for all eternity.
Amen.
