OUR MISSION
We of St. Peter’s Parish are a faith community who have as our
model our Lord Jesus Christ and the fulfillment of his mission. We
profess who we are by our shared belief and understanding of the
Gospel. As people called to conversion, we come together to
celebrate and bear witness to God’s redemptive activity in our
Lives. We live out this mission of Christ through prayer and
worship and through our baptismal call, which challenges us to
minister to and with others.

T
he more popular name for today’s Solemnity of the Most
Holy Body and Blood of Christ is Corpus Christi, which of
course in Latin means the “Body of Christ.” The Church has
celebrated this feast at this time since it was proclaimed by Pope
Urban IV in 1264.
We are asked on this day to concentrate on two expressions of the
Body of Christ — the Holy Eucharist and the Church itself.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church (#1327) states the
importance of the Eucharist quite succinctly and directly: “In
brief, the Eucharist is the sum and summary of our faith.” At the
center of every Mass is our celebration of the Eucharist. The word
“Eucharist” comes from the Greek word eucharistia which means
“thanksgiving.” It is through the Eucharist which we receive the
Lord’s greatest gift to us, and it should be in thanksgiving and
delight which we receive it.
This holy day should also remind us of all those things for which
we should be thankful. Gratitude is at the basis of a life of
stewardship. It is through thanksgiving for all we have received,
especially the Holy Body and Blood of Christ through the
Eucharist, that we find the motivation and the commitment to be
good stewards.
The Pontiff Emeritus Benedict XVI in one of his writings spoke of
the Eucharist in this way: “In the Eucharist a communion takes
place that corresponds to the union of man and woman in
marriage. Just as they become ‘one flesh,’ so in the Eucharist we
all become ‘one spirit,’ one person with Christ.” Today we thank
God for the incredible gift to us of the Eucharist.

n Antiphonary, Antiphonal, " Antiphony" or Antiphoner
(Latin antiphonarium, antiphonarius, antiphonarius liber,
antiphonale; Greek ’antíphonon, antiphon, antiphone, anthem) is
one of the liturgical books intended for use in choro (i. e. in
the liturgical choir), and originally characterized, as its name
implies, by the assignment to it principally of the antiphons used in
various parts of the Roman liturgy.

Endowments Ensure Our Future
Did you know that St. Peter’s has two
endowment funds, created to help support
parish and school needs for generations to
come? Endowments are like a “retirement
account” for the parish: funds are invested
and only the income may be used.
The St. Peter’s Parish Endowment was created in 2013. It is an
unrestricted fund whose income may be used for either parish or
school needs. The St. Peter’s Endowment Trust Fund for Catholic
Education was established in 1990. It is a restricted fund whose
income supports Catholic education at St. Peter’s. If you would
like more information about our parish endowment funds, contact
Karen Conley in the parish office.

Our plans for the “Safe to School” project have been approved! We’re happy to report that
construction will begin on our parking lot facing Meyer Blvd. right after Memorial Day
weekend. Kissick Construction is our contractor, and they are working with us and the
diocese to finalize the contract that’s within our budget. Thanks to all the Campus Master
Planning committee and the individuals who assisted in getting the plans, permits, and
communications in place. Let the work begin!

Sacred Heart Enthronement: What is it and why do it?
To "enthrone" simply means to display. Enthronement of
the image of the Sacred Heart is a way for us to invite Our
Lord to be present in our homes as our constant
companion. By displaying the Sacred Heart image in a
prominent place, and by dedicating our families to the
Sacred Heart of Jesus, we profess that Christ is King of our
hearts and that we desire Him to be present with us always.

The image itself, a blessed picture or statue, should recall the image that St. Margaret Mary
Alacoque described seeing when Our Lord appeared to her:
·
·
Around His Heart is a crown of thorns
·
·
The flames coming from His Heart show the intensity of His Love
There is a wound, from the soldier's spear, showing that our sins hurt
Him in the Heart
Above the flames is a cross showing that His Love for us was so great
that He died for us
If your family would like your home enthroned to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, please contact
