We have been able to clear our storage wait list and we currently are sitting at 100% occupancy. Clean-up Sunday March 14th 8:30 am Bring your mowers, weed whackers and shovels (for the ramp). Please make sure your boat is on a trailer or cat trax for clean up days, empty your hulls of water, also make sure your tie-downs are removed for the clean-up so we don’t spend extra time freeing your boat. RTB Racing Saturday March 27th 11:00 am Officer Corner We are off and running in 2010. This is going to be the best year yet for our Kokokahi Sailing Club. Our primary goal is to continue to provide a safe and cost effective location that you can call your home and continue to enjoy Oahu’s “Best Kept Secret” the Kokokahi Sailing Club. vents e g n i Upco m Jon Ross Duggan, Lisa White, Michael Bacon, and back again Mike Strada. The February RTB event was a fantastic event. The weather was warm and sunny with light to moderate winds. Absolutely perfect for the five skippers that participated in the three race series. A special Mahalo goes to our Race committee, Dan Williams and Marc Bachman. They took some cool movies and they are posted on my photo page. See the GALLERY link in the signature of the Commodore's emails. We would like to welcome in some new members to our Ohana. Please extend your hospitality as you meet these folks. It is always a bit awkward for the new folks to get to know us. How can that be?? We are the nicest bunch of drinkers, liars, cheaters, and all the usual stuff attributed to sailors. The racing was tight with lead positions changing through out the races. I kind of think the RC had a few too many beverages as they could not quite remember the race results. Best I can remember is: Please welcome to our membership: Adam Jenkins, Gregory Suares, John-Tina Jordan, See you next RTB. 1 Chris-Adam, 2-Trevor-Janet 3-Charlie, 4-Sam-Kate, 5-Ole RTB stands for Round the Buoys. It’s our acronym for our bimonthly sailing events where we compete against one another in friendly races around the bay. These will be led our Race Director Bobby, (239-7071). We encourage all our members to get involved with this opportunity to learn how to participate in a regatta and how to make your boat go just a little faster. These are casual races and we do not even allow protest flags. The RTB series as all about learning and not about who wins or who loses. Family Sails Cruising Saturday Feb 27th 11:00 am Lots of members just want to get out on the bay and have fun with other sailors and not have to deal with the racing stuff. If that is you, we have just what you are looking for. The Family Sails will be led by our newest officer Trevor (543.3169). We know he loves to get out on the bay with his lovely wife Janet so they are the perfect couple to head up the FS events. Scu ttlebu t t s m e t I e For Sal Big wind or no wind, this is the life. Send us your information and we will include it in the next newsletter. How about that Americas Cup? Some fantastic starships for sure. The two things that amazed me were they went 4x the wind speed and gong downwind, the apparent wind was still on the nose. Did you see the wing mast was over 20 stories tall. That was an E ticket ride :-) Commodore's Corner Director Positions 2010 chrislaletin@mac.com We have two unsung heroes in our club. They are Capt. Howie, Cruise Director, who organizes the Long Distance events. And we have Bobby Wythes who organizes the race committees for our RTBs and annual Regattas. A very big Mahalo goes to these two guys that help to make KSC the best it can be. jonesta79@gmail.com List your stuff for sale Name Items Name Items Trevor Jones accepts Secretary position at KSC I’d like to think that this year, we will offer so many different activities, that even the “hard to find” members will join us occasionally. I continue to get calls from people interested in our club. Some join, some fade away. The word is out on the streets. KSC is one cool place. Tell me what new events you would like to see. How do you want to get involved? Drop me a note with your suggestions. Photo of the Month Clean Up Roster Thank you to the members that attended the Feb Clean up day. Lets welcome aboard our newest officer. Trevor is so passionate about Hawaii and KSC that he quit his job in order to remain on island. Luckily he already has a new job which will cut into his R&R while he tries to keep his two catamarans (H17 & H20) sailing. What an awesome job by these folks. We made a significant dent carving into the trees behind the bridge. If we missed your name please email me so we can apply the proper attendance credits. • Chuck Bayne • Graceson Ghen • Erik Tinhan • Chris Laletin • Robert Davos • Sam-Kate • Dan Jenkins Molokai 2009, we made it. This is a fantastic event that only the most capable boats and sailors should participate in.
