Pored toga, "For You 4U" }e imati manji broj strana, odnosno ne}e vi{e imati 52 strane, nego 32, po izdanju. Smanjenje strana automatski podrazumeva novi odabir rubrika. Umesto toga, pozivam vas da pa`ljivo pregledate stranice "For You 4U" magazina. Do slede}eg izdanja, ostajte mi dobro, dragi prijatelji! Srda~an pozdrav, "For You" je slu`bena publikacija KFOR-a, proizvedena i finansirana od strane KFOR-a. The summer holidays are over and I hope that during this time you have had lots of fun and now you are ready to seriously take up your school obligations. As usual, the "For You 4U" magazine will continue to be your most loyal companion and will continue to offer you lots of fun and entertainment and inform you about the recent news. However, I have to inform you that as KFOR is changing its structure so is the "For You 4U" magazine. The printed version will be reduced but at the same time we will update our online edition, at www.magazineforyou.com, more often in the future. This means that as of September, the "For You 4U" magazine will have only six printed editions per year, which practically means that the magazine will be published every two months. In addition, the "For You 4U" magazine will also have a smaller amount of pages, i.e. the number of pages will be reduced from 52 to 32 per edition. The reduction of pages automatically implies new range of columns, as some of the columns have already been left out, whereas the columns that will continue to be published in our magazine have been chosen in accordance with the letters that we have received in our editorial office, in which you have informed us regularly about your favorite topics and your favorite fields of interest. Let me just tell you that according to your letters, your favorite columns are the following ones: "School of the Month", "Music Box", "Moviemania", "Sports Corner", "Questionnaire", "Puzzle", "Did you know …?", "Readers' Letters" as well as current activities or events from everyday life in Kosovo. Our editorial office has also gone through significant changes, as some of our colleagues will not be part of our team anymore. On this occasion, I would like to thank all of them for their significant contribution and I believe that I am saying this on your behalf, too as we will always remember their high professionalism, strong work ethic and profound commitment and all we can say is that we wish them good health and lots of success in their future endeavors. Well, I dedicated this editorial mainly to the latest changes related to our and your magazine and this time, I will not make a detailed description of the latest edition. Instead, I invite you to browse carefully through the pages of the "For You 4U" magazine and I also invite you to write to us about your favorite topics and to send us your opinions, suggestions or comments because in this way, the new format of the "For You 4U" magazine will continue to be as close to you as possible. In the end, there is nothing left for me to say but to wish you good health and great results at school. Until our next edition, stay well my dear friends! Best regards 'For You' is an official publication of KFOR, produced and financed by KFOR, printed in Kosovo and distributed freely. The contents do not necessarily reflect the official point of view of the coalition or that of any of its member states. KFOR accepts and welcomes your opinions, it will publish some of these, eventually in a condensed form. If requested the name of the writer will be withheld but no anonymous, defamatory or malicious letters will be printed. Ovom prilikom joj por~ujemo Marina ne odustaj od svojih snova! ear readers, every month we try to present the more interesting stories and students. So this time we found a lovely girl Marina Jovanovic from Koretiste (Gnjilane). She is a student of fourth grade Gymnasium, Natural-Mathematical course in Silovo. The first impression we have gained about her is that she is very shy, but later we managed to turn that shyness into cheerful and friendly mood. At the beginning of our meeting she was nervous, and even there was some tremor in her voice, but just a few minutes after she was laughing and has opened her heart to us. She talked to us about her plans for the future and some unfulfilled desire, such as practicing music. "I've always loved to go to music school, but here I did not have the conditions for it. However, I hope to one day learn to play piano." When we met she told me that maybe in the future she will be a journalist. "It's a work in motion, you always have to do some research, and you are never bored, and most importantly never in one place." Of course we agree with Marina's opinion when it comes to journalism, and judging by her manner of expression, I would say that this beautiful girl could one day be a great journalist, and much more than just that. Chatting with her we noticed that she likes to match colours together, and to wear beautiful and modest jewellery, and I guess that from there comes her passion for fashion. "I would also like to one day be apart of the world of fashion, and to be known designer. I am sorry that so far I have not had the opportunity to show my talent in the design, and I think that if you want to be a good fashion designer, you need to know to draw well. I can draw well, but I think that this is not enough. We journalists don't have an easy job, and I must say that we always cheer up when we meet someone who is versatile, as is Marina, because it means that we have much to say about her. The only wish that she did not full fill for us is to show us her poems, which she keeps secret from all, and are not for the "general public". "I used to regularly write love poems, but it was only for my soul. I just do not like to show them to anyone. I always like to record my feelings on a piece of paper." She much prefers to read and the last book she reed, and which we strongly recommend is called "Pope Joan". "I got this book from one of my professors and for now it is one of my favourite books because it speaks of a brave woman who disguised as a D man and became a pope. I can always read this book and it never gets boring to read, and I wish I could be as brave as was the Joan." Marina regularly goes to competitions and often wins first place. Of all school subjects she like math the most, and even told us that it is the easiest subject, we were surprised since we regularly hear stories about the hard math. "I'm good at Math since primary school, and I like the geometry, because it has pictures, and based on the pictures I easily solve problems." Our Student of the month was praised by her class professor and professor of biology Verica Stankovic. "Marina Jovanovic is an example of a good Gymnasium student, besides being a good student, diligent and disciplined girl she is also a good friend. Actually I have only words of praise to say about her." And we agree with Marina's class professor, because from our conversation with her we could conclude that the she is a good girl and excellent students. We say to her Marina do not give up your dreams! aktivnost organizovana u porti manastira Gra~anica, deca nisu morala da slikaju samo manastirsku crkvu: odabir teme i slikarska tehnika bili su po slobodnom izboru. "Kralj Milutin" (Gra~anica), O.[. "Sveti Sava" (Sušica) i O.[. "Miladin Miti}" (Laplje Selo), a O.Š. After having peered into the work of young artists, we are sure that they really have a lot of love for painting - at least judging by the beautiful paintings... Some have taken the monastery, a house, a well, a village in Kursumlija, a bunny as subjects of their work... but let's save that for later... Art activities were organized for primary school pupils under the name "Let's Paint a Day in Gracanica". This was organized by the Cultural and Education Center (CEC), based in Pristina/Prishtinë and Gracanica/Gracanicë. The colony lasted for 3 days (June 9 to 11), during which twenty participants gathered in the courtyard of the monastery of Gracanica/Gracanicë, and worked on their paintings from 09.30 to early afternoon every day. The CEC was assisted in organizing the activity by the following primary schools, "Kralj Milutin" (Gracanica/Gracanicë), "Sveti Sava" (Susica/Shushicë), and "Miladin Mitic" (Laplje Selo/Llapnasellë). "Kralj Milutin" has also provided easels to participants of the colony. One easel was even provided by the monastery! Mrs. Snezana Jovanovic, director of CEC Pristina/Prishtinë, is an economist by profession, and, by her own admission, an artist by vocation. She told us that although this activity is organized in the courtyard of the monastery of Gracanica, the children did not have to paint a monastery. Children were free in their selection of themes and artistic techniques. The activity was organized according to, but not as part of, Vidovdan ceremonies. Our participants are students from primary schools and were recommended by their teachers as children with a pronounced talent for painting. The monastery yard was chosen simply because it is the most beautiful place in Gracanica/Gracanicë" said the director of CEC. The Children's Art Colony was formed on the initiative of Mrs. Jovanovic and it is the first of its kind in the area of Gracanica/Gracanicë. There are many art colonies for adults held in Kosovo, but there are no such activities for children. The local children have not had the opportuni- W ty to participate in an art colony and so one of our priorities was to give young people the opportunity to get close to art outside of art education classes at school. Another goal we had was to better introduce students to each other. By doing this, children from different schools have opportunities to socialize, exchange drawings, chat... In a way, we wished to create a circle of young artists of Kosovo, which I think is a good thing," said Mrs. Jovanovic. Conditions provided to the young artists during the art colony have been modest, and perhaps not quite ideal. The good will of everyone around, however, has proved that while almost no money was invested (there were no awards) - the impact of the colony was more than satisfactory, as we were told by Tamara and Milena... Tamara Filipovic (13 years old) is a primary school student from "Kralj Milutin" School from Gracanica/Gracanicë. She decided to paint a Kursumlija village where she once lived. She used- tempera paint. "I am here to show everyone how much I am willing to do my best to paint something really good and also to show others that art is not only about putting colour or scribbling on the canvas. You need to know how and love to paint. Nobody can paint something nice if they don't do it with love! I have been drawing since I was a little. I particularly like to draw icons and churches. A monk even gave me a blessing to draw icons. To me, this Children's Art Colony is interesting. I hope that someone will see my work and that my work will be among the best." Milena Antic (13 years old) is also a student in the "Kralj Milutin" Primary School. She decided to paint a bunny with tempera paint. Why did she choose that style? Well, so that it would be pronounced! "I love this little animal... As a young child I liked to play with rabbits. This bunny here has patterns on the ears - to make it look more beautiful! It's winking, and the heart above his head means that he is in love! I simply love to draw. In my spare time this is my favorite activity." Milena would like to be an artist one day. She also had an interesting idea. This time, only children of Serbian community attended the colony. It would be good if all children in Kosovo who love to paint gathered together at this colony. "I think that art connects people. Nationality and religion do not matter when it comes to painting... It would be nice if we could all come together and exchange drawings, experience and knowledge of art." Okay, that's all from the young artist. As for the children's works of art, they have been exposed at the mentioned primary schools, and are also stored in electronic form and posted on the fan site of the Cultural Education Center group on Facebook. Paintings in electronic form are also given to the schools that participated in this activity. This time, the Children's Art Colony was only a pilot project and the CEC plan for this event to become a more regular activity. Mi smo demo autorski bend, i kada god negde gostujemo isklju~ivo sviramo autorske pesme. Poru~uju vam da slu{ate samo dobru muziku, i da izbegavate popularni "turbo" folk! ver and over we are convinced that Mitrovica is a "Treasure Chest" of rockers, and since the "Rock School" has opened more undiscovered talents appears. This time we present to you the band "Dark Sky", the guys who, by what we saw and heard, can expect a bright future and successful career. Listing of our contacts and searching for some interesting band in this region, we recalled the festival "Rock to Break the Silence" that was recently organized by the OSCE. At this point, the images in my head were playing a sequence of the enthusiastic audience in Mitrovica, after presenting a Dark Sky. That was the reason why we have decided to meet these young guys who make really good quality music. With pride they told us that they write the text and music, and that if they find a donor, they will publish their first album. Of course, they are playing song of other bands, but they avoid that because they value their own work. "I play anything and everything, and we all listen to different kind of music, and that is something we can be proud of. We are the author demo band, and whenever we are visiting someplace we only play our own songs. Mainly I write the text that we jointly process at rehearsals," told us was Milan, guitarist and a singer of the band. In addition to their music, long hair and a real rock style, what makes this even more interesting is the multi-ethnic composition of the band: Milan and Milos Kabasic, Emir Hasanaj and Nermin Memovic. We talked with these guys about anything and everything, so of course we also go to talk O about their musical instruments, which they did not get easily. Nermin is a bass player and he had to work for two years in order to gather money to buy his favorite instrument. "I worked as a waiter just to earn for my instrument, I struggled, but I bought it anyway. I think that our band is one of the few author bands in Mitrovica who are working on it, and the aim is to record the first demo, and maybe even more than that. To Emir it was not that difficult to obtain his first guitar, given that his father once was a guitarist in a famous band in Kosovo, "TNT". But, since the guitar is over thirty years old, and is now "démodé" Emir still had to buy new electric guitar from which he rarely separates. "The fact that my father used to be a musician, that helps me a lot, because I myself had the professional who taught me the first chords and tones. My father's old guitar I kept it and I will always keep it, because to me it has great importance." Nermin told us that they used to borrow instruments from other bands, and now they only borrow stage equipment. "At first it was really difficult, because there were few people who wanted to lend us guitars, amplifiers and a space for rehearsals, but now we do not have that problem because we have the "Rock School". We have two terms a week for rehearsals, but this is not enough, but because once we didn't have even this much we are satisfied. In addition to the school, we have regular rehearsals in our homes. Milan told us that "Dark Sky" exists for five years, and that the band composition has changed since. He told us that the situation now has changed for the better, because then no one had the understanding of their music. "At first it all came down to punk music and to something that we did not like. We didn't even have the instruments and we were just kids in comparison to the other Mitrovica bands, and the only one who supported us from the start are the members of the band "Hosenfefer" who are much older than us. They are real role models for us, because they only work on themselves, and accept only their own ideas. I love the fact that they do not care if others will listen to what they create, or not. If they like a story, they will record it no matter what." "Hosenfefer" has been supporting "Dark Sky" from the very beginning, and thanks to them, these young guys first gig was in their café. They support them and help them as much as they can, as well as other musicians from the "Rock School", but sometimes that is not enough. "We are not rich, and to demand form our parents' money for what we need in order to release an author album. Unfortunately, in Kosovo we can not live of the music because we do not have big incomes. We are not "stand band" and we do not ask for huge sums to play. Even when visiting somewhere, we ask for a minimum, just to cover our expenses, food and accommodation, just enough so we don't have to spend our own money", said Emir. Often more work and rehearsals was imposed by a change in the bands lineup, this always included a longer stay in the basement in order to get all the pieces to fall in to place. "It's like when you remove a pillar and you notice that the building is not steady, and now we finally made all these pieces work together and we hope that you will soon have the opportunity to hear our first album. We are working a lot in order to one day be known as a professional band that creates a unique rock music," said Milan. Bassist and drummer are selftaught, but of course in time they acquired the right skills, and they are true professionals, while the Emir and Milan went to music school, which certainly made it easier to set up the band. They have played several times as a subgroup of some our well-known bands, some of which are "Riblja Corba" and "Galija". "In Mitrovica, people look at us as neighbors, and as someone who they have seen somewhere when having coffee, that's why we are not particularly interesting to them, given that we have a lot of rock bands. But to those who do not know us, when we go somewhere outside of town, we are like a "boom", and these people listen to our music without prejudice," said Nermin. When we asked them how much "Dark Sky" means to them, Milan told us: "It's our way out from everyday problems. Our gigs make our life fuller and prettier. Whenever someone invites us to play, we wholeheartedly accept it because our music is in the heart. It is simply an integral part of our lives." At the end the members of the band "Dark Sky" sent a message to all young people to take advantage of the opportunity offered by the "Rock School" because it is their chance for musical training. They say that you should only listen to good music, and to avoid popular "turbo" folk! Njeno simboli~no i magijsko zna~enje - simbol `ivota i zdravlja u kombinaciji sa ostalim bojama i srebrnom i zlatnom srmom, doprinosi `ivopisnom koloristi~kom skladu ovih nošnji. Developed over the years, these costumes contain elements of the different cultural influences present in this territory during the course of history. Serbian traditional clothing from Kosovo is distinguished by its unique beauty and diversity. The wealth of imagination and skill needed to create basic shapes and decorative motifs is noticeable on all items of traditional clothing such as the jelek, dolame, zubun, vest, shirt, apron, belts, scarves, handkerchiefs, hats, etc. These were handmade by women, girls and terzije (professional craftsmen). Ornaments are mainly geometrical or geometrical floral designs, and sometimes animal shapes, but the latter is rare. The most common colour is red. It's symbolic and magical meaning, related to life and health, combined with the rest of the colours and including grey, gold and silver coloured threads constitute the lively colours of these costumes. The city costume was more subject to Oriental influences and it was used almost until the Second World War. In its general style, it had the same characteristics all over Kosovo, with only minor variations in certain areas. It was worn in Prizren/Prizren, Pejë/Pec, Gjakovë/Djakovica, Prishtinë/Pristina, Mitrovicë/Mitrovica, Gjilan/Gnjilan and other smaller towns. The city costumes were mainly done by professional craftsmen. The male costume was mainly based on Eastern clothing traditions, with some Greek influences. The men wore fez as headgear, usually darker in colour and always with a black tassel. Their clothing was made of dark blue or black veiling. Shirts were made of cotton cloth, and for ceremonial occasions, of semi silk and silk cloth. Caksire (a style of traditional trousers) were decorated with silk braid. Over caksire two or three long and wide belts were wrapped. On ordinary days a solid wool belt would be used. On more solemn occasions, the belt would be made of cotton or silk. Over the belt came the Tarabulus (woven of multi-coloured silk and decorated with tassels at each end). For the upper clothing was a garment called the mintan (a type of shirt) with narrow long sleeves and a long waist, which was decorated with silk braid. Over the mintan went a sleeveless bodice of veiling. The city women wore a flat fez of veiling on their heads, and over it they wore a silver Tepeluk. Shirts were with long straight sleeves, and were made of cotton fabrics. More luxurious women's shirts were made of silk fabric with woven vertical stripes. Kosovo Serbian women were known for making this cloth, known as the Prizren cloth (also known as the Serbian cloth). Over the shirts they wore either a short bodice, or one which would come below the chest, made of veiling and velvet, and richly embroidered with silver braid, K buttons and grains of coral. Over the bodice came the Dzuba - a piece of sleeveless clothing made of veiling or velvet, which reached to the knees and was completely open at its front with its entire length decorated with braid and ribbons. The most beautiful garment Serb women wore to formal occasions is simply breathtaking It is a vest with "cepken" (false) sleeves, made of velvet and reaching to their knees, decorated with dense arrays of gold braid and ribbons, with open sleeves going down the back. The beauty, skill and effort put into making all these costumes is what makes them such an important part of our cultural heritage which must be preserved. That is why, when we look back into the past or take a peek into the cupboard where our grandmothers still keep their costumes, we simply get a sense of responsibility to preserve our tradition for the future generations, as it was saved for us by the previous ones. misle da je verovatnije da re~ poti~e od hebrejskog "goral", (mali kamen koji se koristi za `rebanje), {to zna~i koralne grane koje su kori{tene u Oracles u Palestini, Maloj Aziji i oko Mediterana. White, transparent Corallium polyps, each bearing eight tentacles, form tall, branching, tree-like colonies. These can attain heights from 50 centimetres to over one meter, and range in colour from pure white to shades of pink, salmon, blood-red and orange. Corallium corals have separate male and female colonies (not all corals do), and from the few reports of reproduction, it is believed that fertilization is internal, and therefore depends on free-swimming sperm from male colonies reaching the polyps of female colonies. The fertilised egg then develops into larvae within the female polyp's body cavity. Development takes about 30 days, and the larvae are subsequently released into the water column between late July and August. The larvae quickly settle on the substrate close to the parent colony, where they attach themselves and form a new colony. Corallium colonies grow at a slow rate of less than one centimetre a year, do not reach maturity until between 7 and 12 years old, and can live for up to 100 years. oral is among the most ancient of organic gem materials, used for adornment since prehistoric times. Coral inlays and ornaments have been found in Celtic tombs from the Iron Age. It's also the height of fashion today; its bold tones, so flattering against the skin, add a modern shot of strong colour that adds drama to everything you wear. Always effective complementing black, white, brown, and khaki shades, coral is unforgettable when worn with other strong colours. Coral is an organic gem, calcium carbonate with a trace of carotene, deposited by tiny sea creatures living in the depths of warm seas in huge colonies. It grows in branches that look like underwater trees. Most coral used in jewellery is found in the Mediterranean Sea or in the Pacific off Japan and Taiwan. Coral was long thought to be a powerful talisman that could stop bleeding, protect from evil spirits, and ward off hurricanes. The ancient belief in the protective and invigorating powers of coral lives on in the traditional present of red coral necklaces for small children. Coral is one of the seven treasures in Buddhist scriptures and Tibetan Lamas use coral rosaries. As to the origin of the name, the etymologists are not, however, of one opinion. Some say that it comes from the Greek 'korallion', which denotes the hard, calcareous skeleton of the coral animals, or from 'kura-halos', for 'mermaid', as the fine branches of the coral sometimes look like small figures. Others think it more likely that the word is derived from the Hebrew 'goral', (a small stone used in the drawing of lots), for coral branches used to be used in oracles in Palestine, Asia Minor and around the Mediterranean. C Description Corals are the product of tiny living beings which settled in enormous colonies in the depths of warm seas long before our time. The beauty of Corallium corals may be their downfall, as they are harvested at unsustainable levels to be made into expensive jewellery or desirable art objects. Each coral colony is formed from thousands of individual, but genetically identical, coral polyps; basically anemone-like ani- Colours The most valuable colours of coral are red, black, and pale pink, which is known as angel skin coral. Good quality Coral has an even colour and has no fissures, spots, bands or cavities. Since genuine untreated Coral is rare, it is valuable. Coral is commonly enhanced to improve its colour and durability. White coral is bleached. Pink coral is permeated with a colourless wax and orange coral is stabilized with plastic. Black coral is sometimes bleached to create gold coral. Occasionally, red coral is dyed to deepen or uniform its colour. All commonly used forms of coral enhancement are stable. Black and Red Corals used in jewellery are Calcareous Corals that are much softer than other gems. Facts The two biogenic precious gemstones, coral and pearl, although drastically different in appearance, are chemically very similar. Both are mostly calcium carbonate deposited by marine invertebrates. Another unrelated species, the Hawaiian black coral is sometimes used as an ornamental material. Its skeleton is not mineralized, consisting mostly of conchiolin. In Vedic astrology red coral is associated with the planet Mars. S vih ovih godina u magazinu "For You" pisali smo o mnogim sportovima, kao i pojedina~no o poznatim sportistima i znamo da ste u`ivali u tim ~lancima. [kola ko{arke u Gra~anici otvorena je i uspe{no radi ve} godinu dana. "Osvojila sam zlatnu medalju u ekipnom takmi~enju u tom kampu. Korak, dvokorak, poentiranje - pravac u [kolu ko{arke… ll these years in the magazine "For You" we wrote about many different sports, as well as individual well-known sportspersons, we know that you enjoyed these articles. We hope that you will find this story interesting, because we will present one, to Gracanica and its surrounding areas, completely new and unique sports school. A Basketball School opened in Gracanica and it is successfully working over a year now. The idea to start this school is not new as three to four years of work were invested on this project. But everything came in to place in December 2009. Trainings are held in the "Kralj Milutin" Primary school gymnasium in Gracanica after regular school hours on working days (after 19.00) and Saturdays (13.00 to 16.00). About the work of the school we spoke with Mr. Dejan Zivic, professor of Physical education in Primary school "Kralj Milutin" in Gracanica. "Sports are in my blood and I simply love any sports activity! While my love for football will be eternal, now I coach basketball," said Mr. Zivic. One curiosity that is tied to the school is that there are more female students than males. In the beginning many showed an interest, because the basketball school was new to this area. Now the number has been reduced to between 70 to 80 regular attendees. Each lesson includes a preparatory part, warm-up (3-5 minutes), the second part is dedicated to muscle stretching and shaping exercises, warming hands and feet, in the end, in the main part of training we teach the elements of the game: dribbling, basketball two steps... Following training, it appeared to us that some exercises were too hard. We posed the question - is basketball a hard and demanding sport? "Of course there are some things that are harder then others in basketball, but if you are persistent, and if you love this sport nothing is too difficult. I'm glad to say that we have regular students who do not give up, because they have the desire, will and perseverance," said Coach Zivic. The most interesting to us was that the students of the school participated in an international basketball camp "AND 1" in July 2008 in Trebinje (BIH). Participation in this camp took about 400 boys and girls from 22 countries, aged from 12 to 16 years. Children from Gracanica (6 boys and 4 girls) went there at the invitation of the famous basketball A player Dejan Bodiroga, who runs the camp "Basketball Camp AND 1" and is for basketball schools operating as part of basketball clubs, but through some private contacts we managed to contact the camp of Dejan Bodiroga - and they invited us to be their guests. At that time, our school was not yet started, but the trip and stay there was what got us to open our school. Accommodation and transport there and back, everything is paid for, personally by Dejan Bodiroga (300€ per student for 10 days). I would use this opportunity once again to thank him for this wonderful gesture. For us it was an unforgettable and rich experience to be in contact with the "White Magic", as he is popularly called, for the children and I it was something extraordinary." The best surprise in the camp came from Mirjana Djekic and she is now the "star" of the Gracanica basketball school. Mirjana Djekic came to us after a call from the Coach, humble and somewhat shy. It seemed like she minds her new gained popularity, but she answered our questions patiently and carefully. Mirjana (16) is an excellent student, attending a Secondary Medical School (second year), and to train at basketball she comes to this school. Because, as she says, she likes basketball and if she is able, she will continue to train after finishing high school. Maybe even become a professional. We asked her to explain to us what her Coach was telling us about her. "I won the gold medal in the team competition at the camp. In fact, at the end of our stay there, the tournament was held (point system). Four mixed teams made up of older students and four teams made up of young students competed. I was the only girl in my team (ha, ha, ha) and the only Serb. My teammates were from Great Britain and Italy... I am very proud of the gold medal, because before that I didn't train at basketball, but I've played basketball in physical education classes. I am aware that it was a great success ..." said Mirjana humbly. We left the young basketball players to train hard, and to you, our dear readers, we can say only this: If you wish to be involved in this beautiful sport, if you are bored with the computer and sitting in front of the TV, and you have no idea where to go you have a solution. One step, two steps, score - the way to go is the basketball school... Kroz CIMIC(civilno-vojnu saradnju) aktivnosti, KFOR je ulo`io hiljadama evra u razli~ite aspekte `ivota: pobolj{anje putne infrastrukture u razli~itim op{tinama, izgradnja {kolskih igrali{ta i sportskih objekata, izgradnja i rekonstrukcija infrastrukture u zdravstvenim ustanovama, donacije neophodne opreme za lokalne bolnice, ambulante, {kole i sl. Ove promene zahtevaju od nas stanovnika Kosova da nastavimo da radimo naporno sa odgovorno{}u kako bismo izgradili bolju budu}nost za nas i budu}e generacije. rom time to time, as human beings, we have to stop for a while and thoroughly analyze our previous efforts and activities in order to understand whether we are on the right path, to gain a clearer image of where we are heading, and to move further. It is not only individuals who have to pass through this comprehensive analysis, but also social organizations such as business activities, governing institutions as well as peacekeeping missions, such as KFOR in Kosovo. When we carry out such an analysis, what we really want to find out is whether a certain person or organization has been successful during a certain period of time or not. If we take a look at the past decade, the time during which KFOR has been active in Kosovo, the most important thing we will notice is that during this time KFOR has managed to provide a safe and secure environment in Kosovo. This has been achieved thanks to the continuous commitment of hundreds and thousands of servicemen F and servicewomen who have left their homes and families to serve and contribute here in Kosovo. During all this time, these servicemen and servicewomen have been carrying out their duties with a high level of professionalism, strong determination and commitment. Thus they have managed to make KFOR a symbol of trust, professionalism, impartiality and support for the people in Kosovo. It follows that KFOR soldiers are made welcome as they continue to carry out their daily tasks and be present throughout Kosovo, from Leposaviq/Leposavic to Dragash/Dragas, from Pejë/Pec to Podujevë/Podujevo and Gjilan/Gnjilane. We should not forget, however, that even though KFOR's primary task is to ensure a safe and secure environment, it does not mean that this has been the only task during their mission in Kosovo. As a matter of fact, KFOR has extended its already widespread activities throughout Kosovo. The success story does not end here. Through CIMIC (Civilian Military Cooperation) activities, KFOR has invested hundreds and thousands of Euros in different aspects of social life, such as the improvement of roads and infrastructure in different municipalities, the construction and reconstruction of many school playgrounds, sports facilities, and health care facilities. CIMIC has donated necessary equipment to local hospitals, clinics, schools, etc. KFOR has also invested in the renovation and reconstruction of many schools and has thereby managed to make one of the most important investments in the education and advancement of future generations. KFOR has also continuously supported and financed lots of projects, which aim to promote human rights, interethnic tolerance and cooperation in order to provide a better future for all the people in Kosovo. After all these years of strong commitment, hard work and cooperation with various local and international institutions as well as with the residents of Kosovo, KFOR can definitely be proud of all of its achievements, in a very literal sense of the word. Thanks to the KFOR troops' and the people of Kosovo's strong commitment to ensure progress and build a stronger cohesive relationship, new adjustments in a positive direction needs to be made in the KFOR approach. The significant and successful increase of the safe and secure environment in Kosovo requires adjustments of the KFOR troop levels in the future while fulfilling its mission. On the contrary, the adaptation of KFOR troops actually means that there will be more flexible military units, which, if necessary, will be able to act efficiently and competently at anytime and anywhere. These changes also require for the citizens of Kosovo to continue to work hard for our responsibility in building a better future for ourselves and future generations. Tijana Vasic (12) I am already thinking which profession I would like to have when I grow up and I think that one day I will definitely decide in favour of education. I simply like working with children and only because of that I would like to become a teacher. I think this is a very interesting profession, simply because you are the one teaching the first letters to the children. Jelena Tasic (12) I personally love art, especially painting. Luckily I am very good at drawing, because I really want to be a professor of painting. For the moment I like the most, drawing nature motifs especially when we have such good weather, while I am really attracted in giving shades to my works. Miodrag Trajkovic (15) This year I got registered at the medical high school, because I think this is the profession of my dreams. I hope that after high school I will continue my education and that one day I will become a doctor that will cure many people. Dusan Zivic (14) We all have somewhere in our mind some profession we dream of and what I dream of is becoming an athlete. Otherwise I am a member of Football Club "Borac" and I regularly attend some competitions. I am an active athlete and I wish it will remain so. Nikola \or|evi} (13) Kada razmi{ljam o budu}nosti, razmi{ljam o sportu jer sebe vidim kao dobrog i slavnog fudbalera. Ina~e, redovno treniram fudbal, jer sam ~lan fudbalskog kluba "Borac". Cut these six pieces and try to put them together and you will get a message from KFOR. Milos Jancetovic (12) What I would like to do when I grow up is become a Professor of English Language. I might change my mind as I have still time to think about it but being a professor to me is the best possible job. As for the English language I would say that this is my favourite subject at school. Nikola Djordjevic (13) When I think about the future I think about sports as I see myself as a successful and famous football player. Now all this depends on the circumstances but I will give my best to make my dream come true. Otherwise I train on regular basis as I am a member of Football Club "Borac". I have one request for you, and that is in an upcoming issue you would publish a poster of Nikola Zigic. Marko Danic Primary school "Milan Rakic" Babin Most Hello! First of all, let me to tell that you are the BEST! The only objection I have is that you write a little more about love, because that is what I'm most interested in at the moment. In my free time I listen to music, mostly Pink and Amadeus band whose posters I would like to see in an upcoming issue. My favourite actress is Sandra Bullock, so I would be very grateful to you if you could dedicate a few pages to her. Whenever an opportunity for recreation arises, I always choose to play volleyball, because I think it's the best sport for women.
