Last fall, the RCA
Board approved the
process of doing a
community wide
surveying of RCA
Common Property. Last winter we had
Section 1 Common Property surveyed
by Stephen Sehnert, Applied Earth
Technologies, located in Baldwinsville.
Below is a Notice to all residents
residing in Section 1 (the areas
located between Willett Parkway,
North Entry Road, Glacier Ridge
Road and Drakes Landing Road).
This letter was also emailed to residents who have provided us their email
address through our website Log-In
system.
Property line issues is something
that staff deals with regularly, and
one of the reasons that the Board
approved having Common Property
surveyed. Property line locations can
affect things, such as: who owns a
tree that is dead and needs to be
taken down; the set-back for a house
addition, pool or deck; and Common
Property regulations. The only way
to ensure an actual property line
is to have a professional surveyor
stake it. Too often, residents use only
visual aids to indicate their property
lines, such as: mowing lines; mailbox
From The Executive Director
placement; tree/wood lines, etc. These
are not true property lines. If you have
a situation in which you need to know
the exact location of your property
boundary, you can hire Applied Earth
Technologies, or any other professional
surveyor, to have your property staked.
This is also an opportune time
to discuss Scenic Easements. Only a
small percentage of residential properties are affected by Scenic Easements.
They are mainly in the older and
original sections of the community.
Below is a Notice to all residents
whose property is located within
a Scenic Easement. If you are not
sure if your property falls within one
of the community’s Scenic Easements,
it will be noted in your Abstract of
Title to your property. We will also be
sending notices (in the near future) to
all properties that are located within a
Scenic Easement, to ensure that all the
property owners are aware of this and
the potential property restrictions.
The Board of Directors held their
Annual Organizational Meeting in
July, which brings together the incoming and outgoing board members to
discuss and transition any ongoing
issues facing the community. Also at
that meeting, the officers for this year’s
board are elected. The officers of this
Scenic Easement Notice
year RCA Board are: John Vinquist,
President; Doug Beachel, VicePresident; Jay Caporiccio, Treasurer;
Stan Solow, Secretary. Thank you to
them, and the other board members,
for their service to the community!
In recent issues of the Reflections
there have been informational
articles and a survey regarding a
project called The Radisson Towne
Centre. The articles have generated
some confusion and questions amongst
residents, and I’d like to clarify some of
the information for you. The concept
for a Radisson Towne Centre was part
of the original Radisson Master Plan,
and the concept was for it to be built
in the area where Highland Green and
Park Center Condos are now located.
Steve Buechner, Landscape Architect,
recently assembled a committee to
inquire as to what level of interest
there might still be within the community, for this type of project. The land
that he is considering for this project
is the 78 acre site, currently owned by
Empire State Development (ESD),
located west of Willett Parkway (directly across from Deep Glade Drive).
This parcel was recently re-zoned from
Industrial to Commercial/Retail at the
Town of Lysander’s request.
His committee, The Planning
Committee for the Radisson Towne
Centre, has compiled responses from
surveys submitted to provide to developers potentially interested in this
project. They are also reaching out to
Radisson Corporate Park businesses
to see what interest they, and their
employees, may have in shops located in a Radisson Towne Centre. Mr.
Buechner’s committee is not to be
confused with the RCA’s Planning &
Amenities Committee. They are two
separate committees and the Radisson
Town Centre Planning Committee is
not an RCA sponsored committee. Mr.
Buechner or I will continue to update
you as things progress.
The organizers of the Greater
Baldwinsville Community Farmers’
Market are actively seeking artisan,
crafter and some vintage/flea vendors for the Lysander Fall Market
Festravaganza that will take place on
the lawn outside the Lysander Town
Offices building September 15th. If
you are interested, please check out the
website www.gbcfarmersmarket.com
for further information.
I’d like to take a moment to thank
Matt Miles, Summer Rec Program
Director, and all our Summer Rec
Counselors for another year of great
fun for the kids in the community!!
Section 1 Common Property Notice
Dear Homeowner,
Dear Homeowner,
This letter is to inform you that a portion of your property is located within
a Scenic Easement. This information should be noted in the Abstract of Title
to your property. The Radisson Community Association (RCA), as delegated
by Empire State Development (ESD), has the responsibility to uphold the
standards of the Scenic Easement, for all its residents. One of the regulations
of the Scenic Easement is that no buildings or structures can be installed on
it by owners of the property within the easement area.
It came to my attention that many residents whose property was located
within a Scenic Easement were unaware of this fact, or what exactly that
entailed. There is no action required on your part at this time. This letter is for
informational purposes only , to ensure that you are fully aware of the potential
property restrictions.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation with this matter. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at
Ltanner@radissoncommunity.org.
As previously notified, the RCA Common Property in the area known
as Section 1 (which encompasses the streets between North Entry Road
and Drakes Landing Road) was scheduled to be surveyed by Applied Earth
Technologies. The surveying of Section 1 Common Property has now been
completed. Land survey pins have been installed, and may not be removed or
altered in any way. The pin is owned by the RCA and placement of each pin
has been recorded. The temporary marker flags which were installed as a visual
aid of the property boundary line have been removed by RCA personnel.
There were very few encroachment issues found by staff, upon a follow-up
inspection. Residents who are encroaching onto Common Property with landscaping and/or permanent structures will be contacted directly with specific
concerns or requests from the Board of Directors.
Otherwise, all residents are advised that the Common Property as indicated by
the surveyors pins, is owned by the Radisson Community Association. You are asked
to not do any maintenance, such as landscaping, plantings, etc. on Common
Property.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation. If you have any
questions, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Lynn M. Tanner

A Few Mid-Summer
Garden Tips
Written by Pat Rickard
Rain or shine, the
garden needs some
loving care and is feeling the weather
changes as we do.
The plant clearance sales have
begun. For smaller plants in containers
check the roots by slipping the plant
part way out of the container. If the
roots look white and healthy, so is the
plant. Find some great bargains at
quality nurseries.
Wait until fall to plant shrubs and
trees. Rain and snow of fall and winter
help the plants to establish. Hot, dry
weather or even too much rain will not
be conducive to a healthy start.
Prune and trim perennials that
begin to look shaggy and tired.
1. If you have re-blooming Daylilies
(Hemerocallis), give the whole plant
a hard pruning. The plant may look
severe for a while, but will grow new
foliage and re-bloom.
2. Yarrow (Achillea
millefolium),
when
flowers and leaves turn
brown prune back to a
smaller mound and by
fall it will come back
again.
3.
Blanketflower
(Gaillardia grandiflora)
starts looking tired and
flowers turn to seedheads, dead head the
spent flowers and clean
up the brown leaves. The plant will look
refreshed and continue to bloom.
4. Lamb’s ear, Hosta and Heuchera
all put up spikes with flowers. Once
the flowers are past, remove the dying
flower stalks. The foliage will continue
to grow and look much improved.
Wait for another season to make
any major changes to your garden or to
start seeds.
Take care of pests that are most
prevalent now. Look at White Flower
Farm’s website for a list of products
to deter insects, moles and voles, deer
and slugs. Also address fungal diseases.
There are many sprays and powders
conveniently available to help keep
your garden healthy as we begin to look
at fall.
Happy Gardening! Pat Rickard
One must maintain a little bittle of summer, even in
the middle of winter!

*Parent & Infant Swim is a quiet time set aside for parents (or

swimmers need time to learn without having more advanced and
independent swimmers creating a distractive environment.
As another school year approaches, it’s not too early to begin thinking
about Girl Scouts! Girl Scouts is a 100+ year old organization open to
girls in Grades K-12, which helps build girls of Courage, Confidence and
Character who make the world a better place. Troops for the 2013 – 2014
school year are forming now!
Why Girl Scouts?
• The Girl Scout Leadership Experience is an exciting way that allows
girls to reach their leadership potential.
• Girl Scouts develop a creative, girl-only, supportive environment and
grow up to be successful women.
• Your daughter can join a troop and meet regularly with other girls and
moms to participate in exciting activities, make a difference in your
community, and have lots of fun!
• Watch as she builds self-esteem and begins to realize her full and amazing potential while establishing lasting friendships.
• Share memorable experiences with your daughter.
• Girls explore new adventures in a safe environment.
• Adults partner with girls year-round to learn skills such as team-building, problem solving, and critical thinking in a safe environment.
Caring, responsible adult volunteers are also needed in a variety of roles
to help lead girls on their Girl Scout journey. No experience is necessary
and training is provided.
For information on how you or your daughter can get involved, please
contact Judi Knowlton at: jknowlton@gsnypenn.org or by calling 6989400, ext. 2023.

Summer REC Program
Wow! What a
great summer we
have had at REC!
Even though we
have had some
constant downpours of rain some weeks and heat
waves during the others, the program continued on stronger than ever.
Despite the extreme weather, the program was only forced to completely
cancel one day, with another day ending early. This allowed the program to
have all of our special visitors attend
this summer.
From Carnival Day to Craft Day,
every day at REC has been a blast.
The more athletic campers were grateful to celebrate our first Handball Day
while our more artsy campers found
the visitors for Boondoggle Day to be
amazingly helpful. Also new for the
program was our highly anticipated
Dance Party Day where campers were
allowed to let loose and break it down.
One of my personal favorite days
every year is the annual Soak Fest put
on by our local Belgium Cold Springs
Fire Department. Even though the
weather was too cold for the hose to
spray the kids, the department still
came out to the REC program to teach
the campers all about fire safety and to
let them get on the Fire Truck.
Our year would not have been
complete without our community
Dodgeball Tournament. With more
than 30 teams participating, the lifeguards and REC counselors both did
an incredible job of officiating and
organizing the teams. I also want to
give a special REC shout out to the
“Flow Bros” for claiming their second
title in the Peeps bracket.
This being my fifth year with the
REC Program and
first year directing it, I want to
thank all the REC
families, the REC
counselors, and
the REC campers for a memorable year. It has
certainly
been
rewarding for me
to implement changes to the program
that helped make it better than ever!! I
plan on returning next year as Program
Director to solidify these changes so
that the safety of the program continues to remain strong. See you next
year!
Sincerely,
Matt Miles

Radisson’s Dodgeball Tournament Results
The Dodgeball
Tournament held
on Friday, August
2nd at Kerri
Hornaday Park
was a huge success
with a record number of 32 teams participating!! There were many families
and friends that gathered around the
tennis courts to watch their favorite teams play. Thanks to “Nathan

Mulkey’s Dj-ing Service” for bringing
the beats to keep the players pumped
up for their games. The teams showed
their team spirit through their creative
team names and jerseys. The PEEPS (7
to 11) had a total of 16 teams entered;
congratulations to the “Flow Bros”
team for winning 1st place. The GYM
CLASS HEROES (12 to 18) had a
total of 12 teams entered with “Team
America” making a big comeback by
winning 1st place in their division. Last
but not least the MASTERS (19 &
older) had 4 teams.The“Dodgefathers,”
“Misfits,” “Van Wie Nies,” and “That’s
What She Said,” played round robin
games which ended up having the
“Dodgefathers” and “Misfits” in the
championship round. With many close
Reflections, August 9, 2013
calls, the “Dodgefathers” once again
kept their name as the Champions for
another year. The winning teams won
customized t-shirts designed by Sarah
Cerroni and the MASTERS also won
tickets for a round of golf thanks to the
Radisson Golf Course. The “Mighty
Minions” and the “Incrediballs” won
prizes for having the most creative
uniforms.
Thank you to Matt Miles, REC
Playground Director; the Oberon Pool
Lifeguards and the REC Counselors
for setting up, cleaning up and
refereeing. Thank you to the
players who created their own
Dodgeball teams and all the fans
who came out to support this
event. We are looking forward to
seeing everyone again next year!!!
