President’s Report
Janice and I would like to wish a Happy
New Year to all the Concordia Club members. May your year be filled with health,
happiness and good fortune. I know that
everyone is following the resolutions that
they have made for the new year as we have
a group of strong willed and determined
people. Janice and I would like to thank all
the groups that invited us to their holiday
season gatherings. We had a great time at all
these events and it is so nice to be able to
spend time with all the members of the club
and get to meet or know you better in a more
intimate and casual setting.
This festive season has been very busy and I
hope that everyone had time to spend with
their families to carry on traditions as well
as create some everlasting memories. This is
the time of year that we must put aside all
the noise in our life and focus on what is
truly important to us, our families.
We have finally received all the invoices for
Oktoberfest 2015 and will have the final
results in time for the start of this month so
that we can conduct an evaluation of this
past year’s events and start the planning for
this year’s festival.
This years festivities starts with our 2nd
annual wedding show here at the club. This
event will take place in the main hall on
January 10th from 1-3 p.m. We will showcase the hall and all aspects of planning a
wedding on this day. This event is open to
all members as well as the general public.
In keeping with the family theme and tradition, Kameradschaftabend will be held at
the Schwaben Club this year on Saturday,
January 16, 2016. I hope that I will see many
members at this event as we celebrate fun
and friendship with our fellow German
clubs and their members.
The Mardi Gras society had a great start to
their season with unbelievable attendance
at their opening. The closing of the season is
highlighted by another event on Saturday,
February 6th in the main hall.
The Annual general meeting will be on
Sunday, February 21, 2016. At this years
meeting we will discuss the finding of the
long range planning committee and will
suggest to the membership the recommendations of the board. This is also a time for
the membership to bring up any questions
or concerns that they might have.
If you are looking to run for a position on
the board of directors the final day to have
your nomination form into the committee is
noon on Saturday, January 16, 2016.
Hoping to see you all soon,
Rob Kerr

Concordia Bridal Open House
On Sunday, January 10th from 1:003:00p.m. we will be hosting our Bridal Open

response to our show in 2015 that we are
hoping to attract even more couples this

beautiful hall to prospective brides and
grooms looking for the perfect location for
their wedding. The hall will be decorated

Long Range Planning Committee
The Long Range Planning Committee’s
recommendation on the future of the
Farm was accepted by the Board of
Directors on December 10, 2015. At the
Annual General Meeting on February 21,
2016, all members will be asked to
approve the Board’s motion that the
sewage system at the Farm Pavillion be
replaced/updated as required by the
Ministry of Environment. The current
estimated cost is $300,000.
The current campground operation
would continue mostly unchanged. The
campsites would not have any water supply or sewage disposal services.
The Finance Committee will be meeting
before the Annual General Meeting to
review and discuss the results of the
membership survey, the recommendations of the Long Range Planning
Roundtable Discussion Group and the
Long Range Planning Committee on
where the money should come from. The
Finance Committee will make a recommendation to the Board of Directors in
advance of the Annual General Meeting.
Treffpunkt
As 2015 comes to an end and a new year
begins we reflect on all the wonderful memories made with so many of our friends and
family. Our club and its members comprise
a large part of that.
Again we enjoyed performing at the Seniorenhaus. Spending time together tasting
yummy treats and singing carols is always
something we look forward to each year!
Our annual Christmas party and dinner took
place in the Jaegerstube with delicious food
and terrific service by the club staff. Thank
you to all of you for making our evening
special as always!
We have a winter getaway weekend
planned for February. Some of the fun
events include skiing, skating and warming
up by a fire. I hope to share some stories
and photos in the next bulletin.
Our annual Fruelingsfest takes place May
14th, 2016. Save the date and hope to see
you there!
As always we continue to donate blood. If
you would like to donate our partners in life

Happy New Year 2016!!!
Our ladies group bazaar went very well with
lots of cakes & cookies, crafts & cards.
Thank you ladies for all your hard work.
Our Children Christmas party was a wonderful success with the lovely crafts they got
to make with Maria Grupp and her helpers.
Thank you to Santa who came out to visit us
even though we know he has such a busy
schedule at this time of the year.
Cake table
At our Christmas party we had a very delicious meal. Thank you to the kitchen staff
and Victoria, who served us. Later we
played our Christmas game of who gets
what present. In order to pick out your gift
you had to wear an Elf hat that jingled and
lit up. We had lots of fun laughing and
singing.
See you all at our next meeting on
Wednesday, 13 January, 2016 at 2:00 pm.
Until next time.

Concordia Chöre
Happy New Year everyone. Hope you all
had a wonderful holiday, that you didn’t
indulge in too many of Oma’s cookies and
that you don’t have to move the belt buckle
too many notches.
The choir had a very busy December, beginning on December 5th we took part at the
annual Chriskindlmarkt. We were joined by
the children’s choir. It’s always fun when
the young ones are involved. They did a
super job.
To all of our Concordia family and friends
who joined us to celebrate the season with
our Christmas concert we thank you for
your continued support. We followed this
up with our Christmas Party on December
14th, where we enjoyed a delicious meal,
sang some carols and oh yes, had a visit
from the man himself, SANTA. It seems he
has a fine voice and really enjoys singing.
Who knew???? Our thanks to Ziggy and
Marilyn for all your work in putting together such a nice evening. At that time we also
honoured our fifty year singers, Erika
Koeckritz and Elisabeth Rowsell. The 2015
Singers of the Year also received their certificates. This years recipients were Ursula
Dressler and Nickolaus Zeis. In order to be
selected as the Singer of the Year one must,
through his or her behaviour and choir spirit distinguish themselves and endeavour to
further friendship and fellowship amongst
all brothers and sisters in song. By good
example adhere to choir discipline, and
contribute and assist where required.
17
Nick Osbelt and Jorge Schikora were inducted as honorary members to the Concordia
Choir. One becomes an Honorary Member
by working for the choir not just in singing
but by being there when needed to do physical work, such as setting up for concerts,
special events etc. Congratulations, and our
thanks to Erika, Elisabeth, Ursula, Nick,
Jorge ad Nick O. For your years of dedication and devotion to the Concordia Choir.
We are grateful for all you have done, and
I’m sure will continue to do for your choir.
Well the New Year always brings resolutions. Eat healthy, get fit etc. How about
joining our choir, is that something you
have thought about but haven’t done yet?
NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT!!!!!!!!!!!
Come and join us, we practice every
Monday evening at the Concordia Club
7:15. We will be happy to give you all the
help you need, to get you started.
Almost forgot to say thanks to the men’s
choir who took time out of their busy
Christmas schedule to entertain the residents of Seniorenhaus with some great carolling. We really appreciate your annual
visit. It is something all the residents look
forward to.
I think that’s all the news for now.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE,
may this new year find you healthy, happy,
and of course singing.
Keep a song in your heart,
Beverley

geben.
Was das Thema Weihnachten betrifft, hatte
unsere Gruppe am 28. November eine wunderschöne Weihnachtsfeier in der Weinstube. Alle Mitglieder waren anwesend. Rob
Abend so gut versorgte.
Unsere
Jahreshauptversammlung
mit
Wahlen fand am 11. November in der
Weinstube statt. Wir haben diese mit
unserem
geselligen
Mittwochabend
Zusammensein verbunden. Zuerst hatten
wir unser Abendessen mit etwas Zeit zur
Unterhaltung dann fing die Versammlung
an.

Manche unserer Mitglieder verlassen uns
Januar 2016 erinnern. Sie findet wie immer um 17:30 Uhr in
der Schenke statt.

TENNIS GROUP
As I am writing this, it surely does not look
like Christmas. It is quite mild and we are
to expect rain later on. But since it is still a
couple of weeks till Christmas, we might yet
have a white one after all.
On the topic of Christmas, our group had a
wonderful Christmas party on November
28th in the Weinstube. All members were
present. Rob Kerr and his wife Janice were
guests and Gertrud Frim joined us from
Barrie for the festivities. We enjoyed an
excellent meal and a great evening of socializing. Thanks to Chef Andreas and his staff
for a delicious meal and to Iris for looking
after us so well all evening.
18
Our annual meeting with elections took
place on November 11th. We combined it
with our bi-monthly social. The evening
started off on a very relaxed note with supper, time to socialize then we got down to
business. Three positions were open for
election, that of president, secretary and
treasurer. Since there were no takers for
these positions, the committee remains the
same through acclamation.
Our executive committee:

By the time you read this, we will have
started a new year. I hope that everyone had
a wonderful Christmas and is now looking
forward to what the year 2016 might bring.
For our snowbirds that will be leaving the
country this January for a warmer climate,
have a safe trip, enjoy your stay and we look
forward to seeing you when you get back.
Last but not least, a reminder that January
13, 2016 will be our first social evening of
the year.
As always, we will meet at 5:30 in the
Schenke.

Tischtennis Gruppe
Liebe Tischtennis Freunde,
bereits wieder hinter uns. Normalitaet wird
eingekehrt sein und einige unserer Spieler
geniessen nun ihren Urlaub im Sueden.
Allen Mitgliedern, denen es im vergangenen
Jahr gesundheitlich nicht so gut ging, noch
einmal gute Besserung und alles Gute im
neuen Jahr.
schon wuenschenswert. Dies zeigte sich
besonders bei der Wahl und Neubesetzung
der Position des Vize-Praesidenten.
Unser neuer Vorstand sieht wie folgt aus:
Praesident
Scott Sinclair
(fuer ein weiteres Jahr);
Vice-Praesident
Eckhard Michalski
(neu, fuer zwei Jahre)
Hans Malthaner
(fuer ein weiteres Jahr);
Kassierer
Schriftfuehrer
Eckhard Michalski
(fuer ein weiteres Jahr).
Weihnachtsfeier
Am 5. Dezember 2015 fand unsere Weihnachtsfeier in der Jaegerstube statt. Scott
Abends ueberleitete. (Oder schnappten
unsere Maenner nur nach Luft??)
TABLE TENNIS GROUP
Dear Friends,
When you read this report the Christmas
season and the New Year’s Eve celebration
lie behind us and everything is back to normal. Some of our players are enjoying their
vacation in the South. All other friends,
having some health issues lately in the past
year, our best regards and best wishes for
2016.
Otherwise, I don’t have much to report
except a brief recap of our Annual General
Meeting of November 26, 2015. With only
17 members, the meeting was not as well
attended as in the past years. Since the election of our new Vice-President and the plan-
20
ning of our activities in 2016 were on the
agenda, a greater participation and the willingness to take on responsibilities for our
group would have been appriciated.
Election:
The 2-year term of our vice-president had
come to an end. A new officer for this position needed to be elected.
Our Group Executive for the next year will
be comprised as follows:
President
Vice-President
Scott Sinclair
(for one more year)
Eckhard Michalski
(new, for two years)
Treasurer
Hans Malthaner
(for one more year)
Secretary
Eckhard Michalski
(for one more year).
Christmas party
On December 05, 2015 our Christmas party
took place in the Jaegerstube. Scott Sinclair
21
welcomed our Club president Rob Kerr and
his wife Janice as our guests of honour. In a
brief speech Scott gave an interesting and
amusing report of his business trips to
Oman in the past year.
After Nina Furniss had said grace we
enjoyed the Christmas dinner. A heartful
„thank you“ goes to Martina and to our
kitchen and service staff.
After dinner Nina surprised us with another
interesting ‚Questions and Answers-Game‘.
Thank you very much, Nina. We are looking
forward to your quiz next year.
Following the tradition of singing some
Christmas songs, this year with Rolf Malthaner at the piano, our „TT-mens choir“ lead
over to the fun part of the evening. (If you
closely look at the picture below you might
think some of our performers are in need of
fresh air.)
„Tschuess“ and until next time,
Eckhard Michalski
