June Ceremonial in Ellsworth is just
weeks away, Director General Roger
Grindle and his crew have a great weekend
planned, check out the activity schedule in
this issue.
By the time you read this the prescreening clinics, the Hospital Night and
the Doctors clinic at EMMC will have
come and gone, I’ll fill you in next issue.
June is upon us and the busy summer
schedule begins, wishing everyone a great
June and remember, “We never have so

Greetings Nobles, I’m writing this
report on May 12, 2015, the day after
the May 11, 2015 Special Meeting to
move forwardwith the purchase of a new
building located at 1404 Broadway in
Bangor. It was truly heart warming to see
close to 400 Nobles in attendance to help
Anah Shrine into the future. The vote was
a huge majority in favor with only one
against and two abstentions, you could
feel the energy in the air. Now the work
begins for all Nobles of Anah with major
fund raising events coming to help pay
for this beautiful building. I know Anah’s
Nobles are proud Shriners and now it’s
time to get more involved and be active
and proud to call 1404 Broadway your
new home.
The 2015 Anah Shrine Circus is now
history and I think overall it was a huge
success. The final numbers aren’t in, but
I’m sure the outcome will be better than
expected. I need to give a Big Tip of the
Fez to Noble Denny Hill and his Circus
Committee for a job well especially
Noble George Watson our Presque Isle
Chairman. Noble George is stepping into
the background after twenty-one years
as the County Chairman, He’s done a
fantastic job for Anah, many many thank
yous to George.

asked where the unsold calendars were,
they are now half price and if you’re not
selling them please return them to the

2002 was born December 13, 1944 in
Bangor, ME, son of the late Blanche
Thomas Simpson and Dr. Geddes W.
Simpson of Orono, ME. He attended
school in Orono and graduated from Orono
High School in 1963. Attended Bucknell
University and graduated with a Bachelor
of Arts Degree in Psychology in 1967. He
was employed at Jackson Laboratory in
Bar Harbor as a research assistant from

Geddes has been married to Carole
Simpson for 28 years and they live in

They have two grandchildren Zac in the
US Navy and Ronan.

Anah Shriners voted overwhelmingly to purchase the former Abundant Life Church on Broadway. More
than 350 Shriners showed up for the vote, with only one opposed and two abstentions.The former
church offers approximately 400 parking spaces compared to about 40 at the current site. It also comes
with more than 22 acres compared to less than an acre on Main Street. The tentative plan is to be in
the new building in the Fall. The flags for our new home were donated by WORLD OF FLAGS.
A Table Lodge was held in honor of Bro Herb Frost on March 28th. Brother Herb has dedicated much of his life in Freemasonry, was raised in 1981 and became a Keystone Kop in 1982 and became an emeritus Kop in 1993. During his years as
a Keystone Kop, he enjoyed traveling the state of Maine for parades and other special events and even got to visit Newfoundland for a Northeast Shrine Convention. Bro. Herb was a unit treasurer for five years and had the pleasure of working
with approximately twenty other Kops that were active within the unit. Bro. Herb has been extremely active within Mystic
Lodge #65 over the years and only recently decided to relinquish his chair as treasurer due to family and other concerns;
however Bro. Herb is still a strong presence within the Mystic Lodge and is instrumental in providing guidance to the younger brethren. Bro. Herb still cherishes his many memories as a Keystone Kop and still fondly remembers and misses the
fellowship.

Spring has finally arrived, our successful
circus is behind us, and here we are in June
already. Thank you to all those who helped
make this year’s Circus the success that it
was. Thank you especially to chairmen’s
Denny Hill, Steve Mosley, Dale Reynolds
and George Watson, who made sure
everything ran on all cylinders. Thanks
Guys. What a great event!
This month we have the Hancock County
Divan Visitation on June 16, which is
Howard Heath’s famous lobster feed. It is
always a great time. Please come out and
support your Shrine Clubs.
Of course our most important event
of June and the entire year will be our
Potentate’s Summer Ceremonial June
18 to June 21 in Ellsworth. Hope you
all plan to attend this year’s events, as
Potentate Jesse and his General Director
Roger Grindle have planned a very
exciting and rewarding weekend. We
need candidates and new members, so
make sure you turn their applications into
the Recorder’s office in plenty of time to
enable the Membership Committee to get
the appropriate information mailed back to
the candidates and their ladies, as they will
need to know times, locations of events, and
where they need to be.
Your Potentate and the Imperial
Representatives will in Houston Texas
for the Imperial Session the first week
of July. There will be several important
articles to be voted on at that time, one
being an increase in the Per Capita tax
for all members. If you have questions or
concerns about this proposal, please talk to
one of the Representatives before we leave.
Remember starting July 1 the Shrine
Office will be open Monday thru Thursday.
The office will be closed Fridays for
the months of July and August. Have a
wonderful time with your families this
summer, and enjoy all that you do.

The May meeting was held at Runtz’s
Shipyard in Jonesport America. Members
present Captain Carroll Chandler, Lt.
Waylon Merchant, Secretary Scott

Farnsworth, Noble Forrest DeMeyer,
Noble Troy Huffman, and Scott Edgerly.
Old and new business was discussed.
Shirts, caps, and jackets were updated
once again. Parades were discussed and
voted upon. The first outing will be June
5th at the Special Olympics in Orono.
From there we will be setting sail to the
June Ceremonial in Ellsworth.
Once again, a southerner is headed east
to Jonesport. Once we found Milbridge,
we realized the fog was in and I was getting
close to Runtz’s shipyard. Your reporter,
along with sternman Forrest DeMeyer and
new member Scott Edgerly, realized we
were in trouble because I left my charts
at home. Noble Runtz laid out the brown
carpet treatment, and I told him next
time royalty comes, I expect red carpet.
Noble Scott Edgerly was given a tour
of the boatyard and boats were removed
from storage. Noble Scott picked up one
of the used boats to be reconditioned. I
grabbed one myself. We hope to have
them refurbished and spruced up for our
first outing. As were leaving, the sun was
starting to shine, or at least Runtz thought
so. He told me everytime I stopped, I
should turn toward Forrest’s and I would
find my way home. That didn’t work out
very well when we reached the blue buoys
in Addison. Which way should I turn,
starboard or port?
Hope all the ladies out there had a
happy Mother’s Day.

Pellon.
Those celebrating birthdays are Susan
Chandler, Gene Carter, Nancy Madore,
and Cheryl Monson.
Only one couple is honeymooning
in June –Noble Scott Edgerly & Lady
Naomi.
Oops! Time to go. Gotta talk to the
Mayor of Trenton to get the town spruced
up for Noble Admiral Runtz and Lady
Ora, who are coming for a week at the
end of May. PS. I hope there’s plenty of
sunshine.

Hello Fellow Academicians and Ladies !
We have not had the May meeting as of
this writing, so more on that next time.
Ritualists in the cast for the June 20th
ceremonial will meet as usual on the
Sunday before the ceremonial, which is
June 14th, at 4pm at the Shrine Center for
our practice session.
As always, anyone who wants to work
the ceremonial in Ellsworth but who
doesn’t yet have a job should contact his
section master or any of the governing
officers and we’ll get you a job and all the
information you need. Remember, our
governing officers this year are Director
Jon Swallow, President Micah Swallow,
Vice President Clint Richardson, and
Secretary-Treasurer yours truly. Section
Masters are Donnie Copeland for MakeUp, Ron Cook for Technicians, Bud
Young for Properties, and yours truly for
Ritual.

Steve and Brenda Bowden report that
they enjoyed working at the Shrine circus
in Bangor. Steve sold 50/50 tickets and
made a good amount of money on them.
They really enjoyed the show. Now they
are getting out their summer outdoor
things and preparing to find the light for
the lighthouse Christmas tree for the
Feztival of Trees. Brenda has found that
the Christmas Tree Shop in Bangor has a
lot of nice things at reasonable prices
around our nautical/beach theme for our
tree this year and suggests that as a good
place to go if you are looking for something
to donate to this year’s tree.
Speaking of yours truly, Sally, Lauren,
and I had a wonderful time over the April
school break in Fort Myers Beach, Florida.
Soooooooo nice to have some fun in the
sun after that very llllllllllllllong Maine
winter. Lately I’ve been busy teaching
and coaching track. Sally is selling real
estate to beat the band. And Lauren is
enjoying school, chorus, theater lessons,
and her afterschool program. Busy busy
busy. J
I hear tell that Donnie Copeland has
been knee deep in Freemasonry as usual
both here and abroad at the lodge he often
visits in New Brunswick. Keep up the
great fellowship Donnie. That’s what it’s
all about.

The May 5th meeting was held at Pat’s
Pizza. The meeting was called to order at
6:30 by President Roger Grindle. About
36 members were present. Old and new
business was discussed. The Club took in
a new member, Noble Richard Hardison
from Waltham. Thanks to Noble Steve
Mosley, the Calling Post, for doing okay
notifying everyone. If for some reason
you’re not getting a call, give one of the
club Directors a call and they’ll make sure
you get on the list. Tab winner contest,
which was sponsored by Nobles Jason
Snowdeal and Bill Geel was won by the
Facts & Figures Unit, and their winnings
were donated back to the club. The next tab
collection will be at the October meeting.
Dates to remember: Annual Lobster Feed
at Alvin Heath’s is June 10th. It will be put
on by Howard Heath and Don McHenan

back from their honeymoon. No news on
Past Potentate Geddes Simpson and Lady
Carole (with an e). Past Potentate Tyler
Dunning has been in the hospital. Young
Lady Alice Fernald is moving to her first
apartment. I think she’s the last one to
leave the nest. Rumor has it Noble Tom
Fernald sold his boat and it is going to
Alaska for the crab season. Just how big
is that boat, Tom? A belated Mother’s Day
wish to all those special Ladies out there.
Don’t forget June 18th Outdoor Degree in
Waltham. If you haven’t gotten your ticket
by now, you probably won’t get one.

Greetings everyone. Finally, some nice
weather to enjoy, just maybe we will have
a summer. Time is going by so fast, we
just finished the circus in Bangor. A special
thanks to Martha, Josh, Dylan, and Ethan,
again this year. Our faithful, hard working
crew that loads and unloads the trailer.
Thank you to all of you that helped with the
circus novelties. After such a long winter it
was nice to see everyone again. It is almost

meeting Tuesday, June 2, at 7 o’clock at

Olympics and the summer ceremonial

I’m thinking, that as we approach the end
of the second week of May, that spring has
finally arrived. I’ve picked my first bunch
of violets and our hummingbird friends are
back. A sure sign that we are headed in the
right direction!
A big THANKYOU to each and everyone
who came out and supported the annual
Super Supper put on by our unit. And it
was super with a great time had by all. The
clowns, who again did the meal and clean
up for us, did their usual over the top job.
We couldn’t do it without their superb help
and we thank all of you for that. What a
fun way to raise money for the kids! That’s
what makes it all worthwhile.
The Summer Ceremonial is being held
in Ellsworth on June 19, 20 & 21. We are
already counting heads for drivers for the
parade. Looks like we will have a good
turnout. The last time the Ceremonial was
held in Ellsworth it was lots of busy fun, so
be sure to mark the date on your calendar,
if you haven’t already, and plan to be there.
The month of June has two of our members
celebrating their birthdays. Noble Alden
Tracy and Noble John Shea. That’s a
whole lot if candles there. Hope you both
have strong sunglasses close by when
you approach your cake so as not to be
blinded by the light. Noble Alden has
experience as a firefighter, so Prospect
Harbor should be safe. Not so sure about
the Shea’s in Ellsworth though. Noble Bud
and Lady Theresa Morrison, Noble Alden
and Lady Pam Tracy celebrate another
year of wedded bliss in June as well. We
congratulate those couples and the birthday
boys on their special days.

Well here
we are,
couple
of months ago we was whining about the
cold and snow. Last months circus went
good. All said that it was a better circus than last
year. The shows that I worked at were on
Sunday. The first show that morning was
packed and the second show had a good
attendance. This month we will be doing
Special Olympics on June 5th. The next day
June 6th, we will be in Guilford for our Golf
Tournament at the Piscataquis golf course.
Then we hope to see you all at Ellsworth
for our Ceremonial. Next months parades
will be Dennysville , on the 3rd, Eastport,
Machias, Jonesport, and Bar Harbor on the
4th. The 18th we will be in Lincoln and
Pittsfield.
Birthday wishes this month go to Paula
Hanson, Paul Scott, Alton Shedd, Charles
Libby, and Mike Day. How did a nice young
girl like Paula get mixed up with a bunch
of old goat’s like this. Anniversary’s this
month are Neil and Paula Hanson, Charles

Here we in the Month of June. I didn’t
think it was ever going to come. I still had
snow at the end of my driveway on the
1st day of May. Who’d a thunk it. Now
were into blackfly season, fishing season
and most of all mow your lawn season
and I only look forward to one of them.
June is also the month for graduations
and marriages. This year I only have one
grandchild graduating which is certainly a
change from last year when we had 3. The
PINK party was a huge success and very
well attended. The circus is also behind
us. I only worked the Friday show but
I thought the afternoon show was down
some. The evening show looked to be at
least average. I personally thought the
mid-way idea of the rides and pictures was
“Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.”-Winston S. Churchill

a success and very different. In the old
auditorium I could judge pretty well what
the numbers were for attendance but the
Cross Center is so different I haven’t got it
figured out yet.
Next up were the screening clinics that
were held on May 16th. That took place
after I have sent in this article I just hope
they went well. I have been involved with
these clinics for about 10 years and believe
me when I say I really enjoy that job.
Helping children is what it’s all about.
The Ceremonial will be held in Ellsworth
on June 19 & 20. Shake the bushes and
help make Jesse’s ceremonial a huge
success. I’ll write about all of that next
month. Stay cool, mow your lawn, swat the
blackflies and spend a lot of time fishing.

April began with 150 kids attending
the monthly Home Depot Children’s
Workshop. Four of Anah’s steadfast,
faithful, and enthusiastic clowns regaled
the crowd with feats of balloon twisting and
general madness. The buffoon participating
were Div-It (Duane Young), Patches
(Shawn Mott), Pop-Fizz (Troy Devoe) and
the ever popular Jappo (Mike Samiya).
The first Bikes for Books event of
the season at the Guilford, Milo and
Brownville schools was supported (or was
it disrupted?) by Gizmo (Lorne Noiles)
and Diggah (Scott Knight). In a misguided
effort to assure the safety and quality of
the bikes Diggah attempted to road test
one the bikes/ It is unknown whether or
not he resorted to using training wheels.
Out of concner for Diggah’s safety, Gizmo
took after him on foot. Having failed to
consider how slippery the floor might be,
Gizmo slipped and landed on his bottom.
The obvious fact that that portion of his
anatomy is well padded saved him from
serious injury.

Tri County Shrine Club held their
monthly meeting on the 15th of April at
the Dexter Club. This meeting was moved
from the Fairgrounds in Dover because of
building problems. 22 Nobles enjoyed an
excellent meal catered by Nobles Blake,
Hartley, Green,Costain and Mrs. Stoffer.
After the Libation Hour, the meeting was
called to order by President Costain.
Invocation was given by Noble Donald
“BoBo” Young. BoBo put a lot into the
Invocation, because later he won the 50/50
and he donated his share back to the Club.
Flag Salute was led by the President.
Introduced at the head table were VP
Arthur Watson, Secretary David Mosley,
Treasurer Marty Taylor and PP “86” and
Recorder Larry Hersom and Chief Rabban
Robert Turner. Also introduced was the
Director of Anah Shrine Dan Costain.
Unit Heads in attendance were Scott
Folsom of the 4X4’s. Aide Emeritous
introduced was Ron Green. We had no
speaker for the evening. Noble Young
gave an interesting talk on the PALS
Program, which stands for Patient Air Lift
Service. This service provides air lift
service to patients in rural areas for the
Hospitals. Recorder Larry Hersom gave
an update on the upcoming circus. There
will be a new Circus in town this year.
Back from a long absence will be
Elephants and the Big Cats. There is a new
parking situation for RV’s this year, with
the new configuration of the parking lots.
Noble Rich Johnson said that Ticket and
Ad sales look good for this year. There
will be a meeting on the 11th of May to
Hancock County Shrine Club

info meeting for his trip next year. On
May 16th, the regional clinics for the
Hospitals will be held. No further business,

Greetings nobles and ladies! I missed
yet another deadline last month. I’m sure
the band members are happy w/me. We
are very close to our first summer kick off
gig. Your Highlanders will be escorting
the 2015 Graduates from Husson College
on Mother’s Day. I think the step off time
is scheduled for 2 pm. I made an error in
the last Anahgram report. I erroneously
stated that we would be participating in the
graduation festivities at Northern Maine
Technical College. Something happened
and what looked like a sure thing fell
through.
The last two times that I’ve gone to
practice and played, the next week or two
I’ve gotten rather sick. In March, it went
through the entire family. I went to practice
a couple weeks ago, in April, and got sick
again. I think it a coincidence. If it was
something from the pipes (which can be
fatal) I would be the only one sick. In my
case, everyone else got sick also. This last
bout I think I can trace to someone that
shook my hand BEFORE he told me he was
sick. Had he been spending money with
me, I could excuse the practice, but in this
guy’s case he was just taking in good air
that someone else could have been using.
I really think, that so long as there is a
baby at home that is susceptible to such
things, I’m going to have to get firm on a
no hand shaking policy. When you think
of it, hand shaking is an absolutely barbaric
practice. A large section of the population
doesn’t even wash their hands after they go
to the bathroom. They cough in their hands
and then stick it out for you to be inflicted
with whatever plague they are carrying.
I see virtually no logical reason to shake
hands with all of the ailments (especially
during flu and cold season).
For a historical perspective on hand
shaking, President George Washington
thought it for the common people and
believed bowing was far more dignified.
The Japanese bow. I think it makes sense.
The Boston Globe reported that before a
presentation, Bill Gates doesn’t shake hand.
They quoted Donald Trump as saying
shaking hands was, “one of the curses of
American society.”
As for the Japanese, we could learn
something else from them. I’m told the
Japanese have beer vending machines on
the streets. The people use them and they
don’t have any problems. They apparently
are able to “self police” themselves. What
a fantastic idea. That is what I’m told they
have beer vending machines. I’ve never
been there, but the thought of an ice cold
beer to sooth my scratchy throat or lower
my 101 degree fever, while not smart, is
comforting. I could imagine how long a
beer vending machine would last here. It
would make it till just after dark and then
I’m sure it would end up in the back of a
pickup at a pit party.
Getting back to the band, we have been
asked to confer a Master Mason degree in
Hampton. We were given several dates and
I’m thinking the first part of July is the most
likely. It looks like our next event will be
the Special Olympics in June and then the
Ceremonial in Ellsworth on the 20th.

The circus has come and the circus has
gone! Once again we Wheelers were up
to our necks in cotton candy. Capt. Bill
Holyhoke drove us mercilessly for more
production. Noble Keith DeWitt begged
us to slow down because the blood oozing
from our pours was turning the cotton
candy pink.
We were grateful to be relieved by the
Nascar Unit and hope the Wheelers left
them in good shape.
Our parade season starts on Memorial
Day with a parade in Prospect, followed by
the Special Olympic on June 5th in Orono.
While I pen this Pulitzer Prize winning
article it is Mothers Day. It’s only fitting
that Mothers Day comes nine months
after Fathers Day-----Don’t bother doing
the math. Hope all you ladies had a nice
Mothers Day.

Hello nobles. It is June already and we
are getting ready for parade season. Here
is what I have for parades as of 4/26/15.
June 5th Special Olympics Orono Line

June 13th Milo Line up at 9:00 A.M.
July 4th Bar Harbor line up 9:00 A.M.
July 4th Jonesport Line up toward evening
July 18th Lincoln line up at 10:00 A.M.

On the Jonesport parade will only happen
if we have enough Nobles that want to
cover that parade after Bar Harbor.
I want to take time and thank everyone
for the help at the circus. Without your
efforts we would not get enough cotton
candy completed by the first show , thus
the other shifts would be stating off behind
what is needed for each show. In this
column we repeat ourselves a lot but we
cannot emphasis enough the trouble we
are facing with numbers. We try and try to
recruit but do not have much luck. Floyd
may have two or three but not sure as I write
this in late April. Throughout the summer
months we need to take a hard look at we
want the Flag Unit to be. As you now we
will have new leadership coming in Jan. I
feel it is not going to be fair for the new
Captain to take over with a struggling unit. It has become very hard for us to even hold
a meeting because we cannot even get
quorum together to vote on items.
I am looking forward to the upcoming
parade season and to see all the Nobles that
we have not seen for a while. If you see
a Noble from the Flag Unit let him know
of the upcoming parades and his help is
needed.

At this writing, the circus in Bangor has
come and gone. We Nascars helped on
Saturday to spin cotton candy. Busy but
fun time was had by all. I hear that the
show was well attended as well as a great
performance. Good job by all.
Upcoming parade on June 5th in Orono is
the Special Olympics. Also, on June 20th
in Ellsworth the Ceremonial will be held.
We hope to see a great attendance at both
of these parades.

Anah Band had a really great time
playing with the HJ Crosby Community
Band at the Circus this year. Earl directs
both bands and everybody had lots of fun
practicing and playing together. The
Circus is something we looking forward
to each year.
Parade season will be upon us soon and
we are looking forward our usual parades.
We generally stay very busy and do our
best to raise money for the children that
need care at Shriner’s Hospitals.
We are in hopes that others will take on
learning a new instrument and come and
play with us. The more people we have,
the more we can earn to give directly to
the children at the hospitals. Practice times
are every 1st and 3rd Monday of the
month in Newport.

The Circus Committee would like to
thank all that stepped up and made this
years Circus a great success. This could
not be done with out the help from all of
you. We took some chances and made
some big changes this year that paid off
for us. We were able to get some animal
acts back including Elephants, Tigers and
even a Camel. These were very well
received and enjoyed but everybody. We
had things for kids to do before the shows
and at intermission that went extremely
well. Thanks to the Clubs and Unit’s that
supplied the bikes for the kids. A tip of the
Fez to the crews that prepared and served
the food to us between shows. That is such
a big help and much appreciated. Thanks
to PP Recorder Larry Hersom and his
crew in the office for all the hard work
they do.

Now l ets get down to the real news.
The big event for this month is/was the
Circus and although we have a small crew
we gave coverage of the circus that anyone
would be proud of. Skip ahead a bit - one
of our four mandatory meetings was held
Sat morning just as the show got
underway. A few assignments were
handed out but then those participating
were given their new Unit vests , with
names for a small fee and now you can
pick us out in a crowd!
Lets next recap the work done by the
small crew; Working the Friday 3 o clock
show was Chet Davis and divan Rep Don
Gordon, working the Friday 7 o clock
show was Lloyd Day, Saturday was
covered by Ed Gordella 10 o clockDennis,
Don GOrdon Chet and Ed Gardella and
myself. For the Saturday 7 pm show we
had Ed, Dennis and of course for Sunday
we had Ed Gordella both shows.... Ed, did
you bring a tent and sleeping bag???
If that wasnt enough, Ed did a great job
of coverainng the Queen coronation,
Daughters of the Nile, of Lady Seymor a
week prior to the circus. Boy what new

At the time this is being written (April
30) it is STILL COLD outside. But, as you
read this I hope the temp is much higher.
Seems like I wrote this last time and I have
missed a month.
We held our April monthly meeting
Sunday the 12th. Could have used a few
more members but we had a very successful
and interesting meeting. Our leader, Noble
Ken Swett talked again about plans for the
future. On Sept 26 at the Shrine Temple
we are planning on a 30th anniversary
celebration of our Past Masters unit.
More on this as time goes by. Please save
that date, open to all, semi public. Any
suggestions YOU may have will be most
helpful.
As mentioned in the last Anagram I am
always looking for input from you for this
column. Any information you might want
to have inserted should be in my hands by
th 25th of the month. I need to get it to the
editors soon after so they will have time to
get it in.
The Editors of the Anagram do a great job
in getting this magazine out and on time,
especially with all the articles they have to
put in. I hope you all thank them when you
see them.
We have no requests to perform the MM
Degree at the present time but we are
always willing and ready to come to your
Lodge. We can either do the whole degree
or come to assist your officers in filling an
office or two.
DON’T FORGET… our monthly
meetings are held on the SECOND
SUNDAY of the month at 2:00 p.m . We
meet at the Bangor Masonic Center (not the
Shrine Temple) on the 2nd floor. Hope to

Hello everyone from the membership
committee. I wanted to update you all a
little bit on membership. First of all let me
tell you we had a very successful Hospital
Support Night event on Sat. August 2nd.
This is something the membership comm.
put on to raise awareness of what we
really do as Shriners which is support the
hospitals. We had a fantastic meal put on
by the Second Section, who did it free
of charge by the way, a silent auction,3
patients from the hospitals that spoke and
some great entertainment by the Skyliners
band. Because it was our first time doing
this and being in the middle of the summer
I was a little nervous about what kind of
turnout we would get. I am very pleased to
say that we had over 120 in attendance! The
deal was that every penny of profit we made
would be split between the Boston and
Springfield hospitals. We actually will be
sending them $1062.00 each! I have spoken
with Jesse Thomas our Chief Rabban and
it looks like we will do this again next year
hopefully on May 16th.
In addition to that the membership
comm. is meeting once a month and will
be starting phone calls to all those nobles
!

who are behind in dues next month. This
seems to help a lot with our retention. I am
personally reaching out to all the candidates
from 2011,2012,2013 and 2014 each month
through a calling post message. I think this
keeps them in the loop and informed.
Please help us by telling the Shrine
story as often as possible. We need to start
gearing up for next year’s class, so keep
thinking about someone who would make
a good Mason and Shriner.
Springfield MA is now a thing of the past
and was held August 21-23. I am sure a
good time was had by all who attended.
Noble Appreciation Night will be held at
the Anah Temple on September 13th.

know, they are my son and daughter in
law. I can’t believe I missed that and I
want to apologize to them for that and it
won’t happen again. On this same note,
how about the news that I am going to be
a grandpa. That’s right, Julie and Greg are
going to have Lady Monica and my first
grandchild and we are soooo excited to
think about a little on running around and
look forward to the due date.
Congratulations Julie and Greg on this
awesome news. As I write this article the
2015 rendition of the Anah Shrine Circus
in Bangor is in the history books. What a
great job that was done by the Circus staff
in getting a fresh show here in Bangor.
Congratulations to Circus Director Dennis
Hill and his crew on a great weekend. I’m
sure the Presque Isle circus will be great
as well. A great turnout of Second Section
members was evident as the programs
sold very well and those unable to sell
programs participated in the preparing and
serving of many meals to the Circus
workers all weekend. A total of just under
700 meals were served over the weekend
and I think everyone enjoyed the meals
that were prepared. A huge thank you to
the Ladies of the Second Section who
helped all weekend with the cooking and
serving. Without all of the help, we
couldn’t have pulled it off.
When everyone receives this article, the
June Ceremonial is just a few week away
in Ellsworth. As always we should be in
line for a great time. Details of how
everything will flow will be explained at
the June meeting and the Ceremonial. If

The Second Sections sixth annual Noble
of the Year party is set for October 3,
2015at Anah temple. The recipient of the
honor this year is still unannounced but
will be announced soon and details of the
evening will be explained in future
articles. As in years past, this party been a
great time and it should be a great time
again this year. Tickets should be available
by the June Ceremonial so see any Second
Section member to purchase your tickets.

important at this meeting to make sure
everyone knows what to expect at the
Ceremonial. A lot will be discussed and
everyone should try to attend. The June
meeting is our last meeting for the summer
and we will resume meeting in September.

Well by the time you read this the
circuses have been over congratulations
Jesse Thomas in the circus crew on a great
circus I think it was wonderful and I hope
everybody enjoyed it on the Funster side
we had a very great participation at the
circus in Bangor in good participation in
Presque Isle as all of you are aware the
Funster’s I’m trying new ideas to raise
money for the shrine in the front Street
unit we were very successful with our
dinner with the Funster’s that happened on
April 21 at the ground around we thank
everyone for coming and support our unit
we will be at the medical screening clinic
we are going to be in Lincoln in May we
have the Special Olympics in Orono also
prayed commitments in Milo and in
Brownsville in the Fourth of July in
Jonesport June ceremonials coming up I
want to hope everybody goes that can I
have prior commitments but it should be a
great time and I am sad lady buzz and
myself are going to miss it all the other
units in this unit enjoy the parade this year
take your families and spend the time with
the shrine

Wow what a great turn out at the 52nd
Annual Anah Shrine Circus, we
participated in selling the 50/50 tickets at
5 shows and had a blast doing it. It was
great to see the kids enjoying themselves.
We would like to again thank Keith Dewitt
for our carts; we have them all now the
work begins. Again if you have never
been to one of the Waltham’s outside 3rd
degrees save the date, June 18 at 1268
Waltham Road, Waltham. Don’t forget
Anah Facts & Figures will be hosting a
seafood supper and camel milks following
the outside degree at 381 Cave Hill Road
- Elliot Jordan’s Garage.
There will be chop suey and bean &
hotdogs available as well. Tickets will be
available for $25.00 per person. Get your
tickets soon this is one you will never
soon forget!

SCHOODIC
SHRINE CLUB

Greetings from Schoodic Shrine Club:
There was no Shrine Club meeting in
April and as I write this, our May meeting
has not yet occurred.
We were saddened by the death of a
dedicated Shriner, Charlie Casey. Our
condolences go out to the members of his
family.
As we look forward, we have our June
meeting scheduled for Wednesday, June
17th at the Lubec American Legion, Lubec
America, social hour beginning at 5:30
pm. This is a joint meeting with the
Washington County Shrine Club. It is also
a Ladies Night. Steak and chowder are on
the menu.
Our July meeting will be the annual
steak feed, held at Eastern Lodge No. 7,
Eastport, on Wednesday, July 22nd at 5:30
pm. This meeting is for Shriners and Blue
Lodge members. This is not a Ladies
Night.
August will be the Potentate’s visit at
the Meddybemps Community Center on
Saturday, August 22nd, 1:00 pm. More
later.
We would like to welcome our summer
people back from the south. We had a
great winter and we are sorry you missed
it.

I hope everyone had a good time at the
Circus. Now we have to start thinking of
the Ceremonial in Ellsworth. It will be a
great chance to see old friends and talk
about the winter we had. It has been a
hard winter for some of us. In April,
Charlie Jonson, a long time Chanter
member passed away. Jimmy Leighton
has been enduring cancer treatments and
Cecil Wilson has had quite a bout with
kidney stones. Our best wishes and
prayers go with them as well as all others
who are struggling with health problems.
The Chanters need new, younger
members. Anyone who loves to sing is
welcome
and if you are still young enough to bend
over and touch your toes without
help getting back up you are especially
welcome.
