Third Sunday of Advent
LIFE AT ST. FINBARR
-- Father Tom
Welcome to all who have arrived in Southwest Florida
this week… just in time for the celebration of Christmas!
And, welcome back to the St. Finbarr Catholic Community!! We share a great blessing with one another whenever we gather to celebrate the Eucharist! Let’s enjoy
this time!
WELCOME to Father Edward Beck who joins us this
weekend and who calls us more deeply into this time of
renewal!! Remember, Fr. Edward will be gathering with
us this Sunday afternoon (Dec. 16) at 4:00 PM. Please
join with us for a time of prayer and reflection as we
move closer and closer to Christmas.
I thank all who participated in the Festive Christmas
Dinner this past Friday evening and also the many, many
folks who supported the Christmas Cash Giveaway! The
winners of the Cash Giveaway are posted on the bulletin
board in the lobby. Again, thank you for the TREMENDOUS involvement – both of those already in Florida
for the season and those still in the North! TOGETHER
we continue to make a difference in the life and growth
of this Catholic Community at St. Finbarr!!
We continue to receive registration record updates and
that is a necessary help in our attempt to bring all of the
parish records up to date. THANK YOU for your assistance and patience as we make the corrections in addresses and phone numbers.

A mountain shames a molehill —
until they both are humbled by the stars
— old adage
The ladies of the CCW are holding a Holiday
Bake Sale after all Masses this weekend.
Please support them and take home something
yummy! Cash donations are also always welcome.

German Feast will be on Tuesday evening, January 8, 2008!
Tickets for this Feast of German Food are on sale now! Cost is
$15 and tickets will be limited to 300. Invite neighbors and
friends for a great time and enjoy some good eating!!

Have You Seen These People??? On the bulletin
board in the lobby we have listed the names of persons we have
not been able to contact. Please look it over. If you know the
whereabouts of any of those listed, please contact the Office.
Celtic Ball—You are invited to the Celtic Ball and 7th Annual Silent Auction of Saturday, February 23, 2008 at the
Naples Grande. All proceeds benefit our area Catholic High
School, St. John Neumann. Great food, music and dancing
await you… reserve the date and your table. Contact Lorrie
Griffin (239-263-1891) for more information.
If you have not yet done so, please pick
up your 2008 parish support envelopes.
If you cannot find your name on one of
the boxes of envelopes, it may indicate
that we were not able to contact you by
mail or phone and incorrectly concluded
that you are no longer living in the
Naples area. It may be that in the transfer process from
San Marco to St. Finbarr, we unintentionally overlooked
your name and information. Or, we may not have you
registered at St. Finbarr. Whatever the situation, a call to
the Parish Office this week can get all things in order.
Educational Opportunity Are you striving to grow
closer to the Lord? Are you searching to know more about our
Catholic Church? Consider participating in classes offered by
the Blessed Edmund Rice School. Classes are offered, both
morning and evening, not only at the school but also in various
parishes throughout the Diocese of Venice. Visit the Rice
School web site at www.riceschool.org if you wish more information. This is a great opportunity for us all!!
Please remember to participate in our Communal Penance Service this Monday evening at 7:00 PM. Check
this bulletin for the additional times for the Celebration
of Reconciliation.

far surpassed our assessment, an offering to the Catholic Faith
Appeal at this time will be applied toward our debt and will NOT
BE ASSESSED for the 2008 CFA goal. THANK YOU! Remember, checks intended for CFA must be made payable to: Catholic

Help, Help, Help! Only about HALF of the registration updates have been returned… PLEASE return your Parish Registration Updates as soon as possible. We hope to
have the parish records updated before the beginning of
2008! If you did not receive a Registration Update in the
mail, please contact the Parish Office. We may have the
wrong address. Attempts are made to contact those whose
letter is returned to the Parish Office because of no forwarding address. If no contact can be made, we will conclude
that the persons have moved out of the St. Finbarr area and
are no longer members of our faith community. We truly
need your update information for the parish records
Advent Retreat Weekend Continues with Father
Edward Beck this Sunday afternoon (December 16) with
a special talk at 4:00 PM. You are encouraged to invite
friends and neighbors to attend.
If you have not yet ordered your name tag, please
do soon! It is our hope that everyone at St. Finbarr will obtain a parish name tag so that we
might not only recognize faces but also call one
another by name! It takes about two weeks before we receive the completed name tags. When they arrive,
you may claim your name tag on the lobby table.
