Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 235 East State Street Doylestown, PA 18901 215-348-4190 www.ourladymtcarmel.org Tithing is “Stewardship in Action” February 15,2015 Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time FEBRUARY 18, 2015 Dear Lord, As we enter this Solemn and Holy Season, we pray that you would send your Holy Spirit upon us that we might prepare ourselves for these coming 40 days of Lent. Even though we may no longer wear sackcloth and ashes, we do seek to humble ourselves so that we can understand the magnificence of Your Love for us as You humbled Yourself and gave Your Life on the Cross that we might receive the gift of Eternal Glory with You. AMEN. MASS SCHEDULE AS FOLLOWS: 6:30 AM 8:00 AM 12 NOON MSGR. MORTIMER MSGR. HAGAN FR. ONUNWA 4:00 PM (ASHES ONLY) FR. TERRY 7:30 PM FR. ONUNWA Stations of the Cross are every Friday during Lent At 7:30PM Please note the time change From the Pastor’s Desk Christian Stewardship A recent study of 18-35 year olds by the United States Catholic Conference discovered that approximately 350,000 men and 250,000 women have considered a religious vocation. One of the most recent obstacles to a religious vocation is educational debt. A more pervasive obstacle is the culture in which a vocation can be silenced by the culture which exhorts the young to “get a good job and become financially secure”. We can be countercultural when we encourage a young person to think about a religious vocation and when we pray for vocations. Msgr. Charles H. Hagan COMMUNION UNDER BOTH FORMS 1. February 15, 2015, - 12 Noon 2. February 22, 2015 - 9 AM The Home and School Association does an incredible job supporting and enriching our school. How can you teach children the importance and the joy of giving? It is impossible to be grateful and unhappy at the same time. As we count our blessings we naturally find a sense of peace and contentment. Children learn that they are called to give back something to God. They also learn that they must let go of some of their own wants. Stewardship teaches children the difference between needs and wants. Children learn to concentrate on their blessings rather than on what they want. The idea of the children’s envelopes is not to raise more money but to teach children the joys of giving and helping. Thus, it is more important that children give a quarter from their own bank than $5 from a parent’s wallet. Children’s envelopes also encourage kids to share talent - a good deed or a prayer they have written - or to write down ways they have been good stewards.
